  1. I love Hawk. He's the greatest. Feels like it's been longer than 2 months since we heard a baseball game from him. Only 3 more months until we can put it on the board again.
  2. I'm beginning to get the feeling that there are going to be some sad and whiny people by the end of this offseason.
  3. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Dec 4, 2006 -> 06:23 PM) I've always said that I expect him to be out of baseball in a handful of years with injuries from his mechanics and I've also been very critical of his stuff. A 91 MPH fastball with no movement, an okay curveball and a changeup that he doesn't always has a feel for? Also: I expect him to give up a s***load of homeruns. Straight fastballs at modest heat? Mmhmm. He gave up 3 less HR than Jose in 113 less innings. At least thats what I posted earlier this offseason. That's scary. He had the worst per inning numbers of any of the six starters. I guess we can just hope and pray it was a bullpen thing. I'm not totally convinced.
  4. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 4, 2006 -> 05:54 PM) How many people have wondered what will happen if BMAC totally bombs as a full time starter. All the time. Well, not really, but yes I certainly wonder. He was awful last year.
  5. Well, if he isn't in the starting rotation and a starter isn't traded, I surely don't want him in the bullpen. He was not so good.
  6. Interesting. When I saw this on rotoworld, I couldn't wait to come read this thread.
  7. I hope everybody just plays better next year, especially pitchers. That is the best move we can make.
  8. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 1, 2006 -> 08:33 PM) The point is, you dont know what you have, and in his starts he was a totally different pitcher than coming out of the pen. Carl Crawford is a better player hands down, no doubt about it. But in today's market for an SP, and the upcoming contracts we need to extend to keep key pieces of our org, BMAC's salary and talent are extremely valuable to us. To the D-rays it doesnt mean as much, but to a team like ours who needs a key piece like BMAC and who cant afford to go out and sign Vincente Pedilla just to fill a spot in our rotation, BMAC is EXTREMELY valuable. He may well be our 2nd or 3rd best starter next year, if that happens, would it then make more sense to some of you people why we should keep him? He may very well be our 2nd or 3rd best starter, or he could give up a walk every 2 and a half innings and a HR every 5 innings again this year (he gave up 3 less HR than Jose in 113 fewer innings!!!!!!), which was the worse than all five of our starters, in both categories. Now you can just throw those numbers out and say, eh, not a big deal, it's because he was in the bullpen. I don't buy that argument. The DRays aren't dumb enough to do BMac for Crawford straight up, and I probably wouldn't do more than that if I were Kenny. But I still agree we should hold onto Bmac and see what he has. I am just not expecting what everybody else seems to be expecting.
  9. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 1, 2006 -> 04:59 PM) He started 2 games last year and had a sub 4 era. Thats all we have to go off of his performance last year. BMAC is more valuable because he is a pitcher, its harder to find good pitchers for his price. Why do you think TB would be willing to give up "a potential hall of famer" for BMAC? Because BMAC is worth that price. What was his ERA in his other performances? You can't just totally ignore that. Do I think he will be as bad as he was in the bullpen last year as a starter? No, I don't, but that doesn't mean you can ignore that performance in his evaluation. If he goes out and has a sub 3.50 ERA this year you can say the bullpen results were a fluke and not the month or two at the end of '05. Of course we really won't have a good idea of that until a couple years down the road.
  10. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 1, 2006 -> 04:02 PM) There is more of a chance of us finding young Of'ers and FA of'ers than finding a cheap, young, good starting pitcher. When you factor in the team's financial flexibility and the barren landscape of available FA pitchers, you dont trade BMAC. If we hold off trading for a guy like Crawford, I surely hope BMAC is better than he was last year. I think that will be the case, but I don't buy the coming out of the bullpen argument. Hopefully he gets a little movement on that straight as an arrow fastball, or locates 100x better than last year or he is gonna be much like last year, and then his stock is gone. I think BMAC can get to where everybody thinks he can, but he surely isn't a lock. We don't know what he is going to do next year. You have a pretty good idea what Crawford is going to do next year, and the years after that, and it is pretty awesome. In other words, I hope we are not looking back next year at this time saying, "Man, I wish we would have traded BMAC for Crawford." All that said, I think BMAC can get there. Here's to hoping he does.
  11. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 30, 2006 -> 03:27 PM) The White Sox exercise the options on Dye, Buehrle, Iguchi ≠ Dye, Buehrle, Iguchi will be back. 2 of the 3 are close to 100% on coming back (not real percentages, just saying it's pretty much definite), and the third is close to that.
  12. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 4, 2006 -> 01:32 PM) Has Frank been up yet this series with anyone on base? I dont think so. And he's got no protection either. If Bradley and Chavez don't get going they could have a real tough time if they get by the Twins. Chavez has been brutal
  13. That hurts. Twinks pretty much had to win this one I thought.
  14. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Oct 1, 2006 -> 03:46 PM) Twins Division Champions 2006. And I'm sure several more times beyond that. We're sure not defeating them with this rotation of ours. We did last year. I believe you mean that we won't defeat them with this rotation pitching way below career norms like this year.
  15. LOL. What a choke job by the Tigers. They are gonna get crushed in the playoffs
  16. I'm okay with anybody but the Twins. I'd rather the Tigers not win, but wouldn't really affect me one way or the other. I hate having to root for the Yanks, but I hate the Twins much much more. The A's are gonna get crushed or I'd root for them. I would LOVE for an NL team to win, but that ain't happening. It will be another sweep.
  17. WHat a terrible night for my sports so far. Been too many of these lately. Cmon college bball.
  18. He was asked about BA and his hitting. Not about Uribe. Not about Pods. Maybe the media doesn't like BA and likes Uribe and Pods. It's not like he is going around telling people that he didn't like BAs Abs this year. He was asked if he liked his at bats and he said no. I'm sure BA would say the same thing. As TLAK posted above, even when he started hitting better he wasn't driving in any runs. BAs D is great, but we need him to hit much better next year. Hopefully it'll be a sophomore breakout.
  19. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 18, 2006 -> 07:48 PM) So....anyone else think this team quit on Ozzie? No. They just suck unfortunately. Picked a really good time to suck. Tho I do think injuries (unknown to us and the media) have taken a SMALL toll on the team. Like you've said before. It'll be interesting to see what comes out. BUt thats just a small part. OVerall they just suck and have sucked for the last month. I don't think they've quit though.
  20. Ugh. What a mess. Oakland and the Yanks better wreck shop in the playoffs.
  21. Is there any worry that a collective bargaining agreement won't get done this winter? I know there is always a chance of it not getting done with the clowns running both sides, but I haven't heard anything about it, and it seems like you hear more about it leading up to the offseason when it's supposed to expire. Was just wondering if anybody had heard anything.
  22. I'm not at all suprised that we got swept out there. Hopefully next year we play them out there early on. Get our losses over with. For the past two months it seems like we never could get the big hit or the big pitch, especially with two outs. Execution just seemed awful in every way. And when we did get a big hit or big pitch in a situation like that, it seemed like we couldn't go out there and do it again. Anyway, very dissapointing. We will end up getting exactly what we deserved. It'll be interesting to see what happens in teh offseason. I wish you could go out and buy 'execution'.
  23. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 06:57 PM) Congrats to the big man. I know who I'm rooting for once the Sox are eliminated. They're the only likeable team in the AL. Can't root for Detroit, as I dislike most Detroit-anything fans. Minny? Hate 'em, they're players, some of their fans. New York? Hah -- the worst of 'em all. Yep. And unfortunately I don't think thye have much of a chance in the playoffs. I'll be rooting for them though.
