  1. Burke grounds out, Ozuna scores from 3rd. 4-2 now.
  2. Another base hit for Ozuna. I know it's just Spring Training but Ozuna looks like he could start in the majors. It seems like Ozuna can go from 1st to 3rd on a single every damn time! Definately the perfect player for Ozzie. 4-1 now.
  3. Indeed. It looks like his weak ground-outs from last season are back in full-force. He hasn't even earned a roster spot in my opinion. Ozuna deserves Willie's spot and Willie should be traded. I'd rather carry a 12th pitcher than Willie.
  4. Hawk just reported that Buehrle's MRI showed no break but results were inconclusive. He will have a CT Scan next. What is a "CT Scan"? "Computed Tomography (CT) Scan" http://my.webmd.com/hw/health_guide_atoz/h...C-9531713CA348}
  5. Paulie ejected for arguing strike call. Burke in at 1B to replace Paulie.
  6. Ozuna is killing the ball. I'm loving him as our utility guy.
  7. Just heard the news. I want to kill myself. The only thing that's keeping me from the ledge is B-Mac. If this was any other season, I would think we were dead ducks. Finally, it appears that we have someone to fill in for him. It looks like B-Mac gets his wish and will be in the rotation to start the season.
  8. I think Kenny was saying that BS about Willie to hype up his trade value. Iguchi is definately going to be the starter because of his salary.
  9. Agreed. Timo is a lock to make the roster just because of his $1 million salary. I could see Borchard getting dealt with his decent spring (mostly because of the power he has shown).
  10. Superstition. I hope Podsednik doesn't suck because we moved him from CF to LF. Just because Piazza sits behind the plate for 100 to 120 games doesn't mean that he even belongs there or that he's catching a good game. Piazza is a glorified DH sitting behind the plate -- no arm, no speed, no defense. He's only behind the dish because he can't even play 1B and he's in the N.L. If Piazza was playing in the A.L. he would be a DH.
  11. Well, let's see... 1.) 36 year old knees. 2.) Horrible throwing arm. There's a reason they wanted to convert him to a first baseman last season. The problem is that he was even worse at first base than he was at catcher. Hence, putting him back at catcher this season. The guy is just begging to be a DH in the A.L.
  12. Haha, the begginning of Frank's video is funny. It's like he can't even hear what the speaker is saying.
  13. Here's the box score. Guys like Calvin Murray, Cody Ransom, Ronny Cedeno, Angel Echevarria, and David Kelton were beating up on Garland today. I hope it was just a bad outing. I'm not as worried about El Duque because he has even said himself that he doesn't take Spring Training too seriously and is just out there to practice his pitches.
  14. I wasn't trying to convince you of anything. I was just giving you the facts -- Garland got rocked by minor leaguers today.
  15. Because he was looking horrible against minor leaguers that won't even be on the Cubs opening day roster. Garland gave up 3 runs in the 6th inning and then gave up another run in the 9th before getting out of a jam that he himself created. It was a very poor outing considering he wasn't even facing major league talent. So you, in turn, think Garland is going to have a "huge year" based on that kind of outing?
  16. No, but if there are rumors about us keeping Burke and dealing Davis is there anything wrong with discussing it? I like Burke because he can play some 3rd base. He's a bit more versatile than Davis. He's also been hitting really well in camp. That's good to see. Do you love Davis or something?
  17. Yeah, they do have Ramon Castro in camp but he's pretty bad. With Piazza being unable to catch many games in his old age and Castro being horrible, I wonder if the Mets would be interested in Davis.
  18. It's weird. The Mets already traded their other backup catcher Vance Wilson to the Tigers a month or so ago so they are only left with Mike Piazza and Mike Jacobs at catcher. I doubt Mike Jacobs is ready for the majors already but who knows... Maybe Ben Davis could be headed to the Mets now?
  19. Yep. Good deal for us. He can start at guard and back up Kreutz at center. An OL of Olin Kreutz, Jon Tait, Fred Miller, Ruben Brown, and Roberto Garza isn't bad at all.
  20. Yep. The Dodgers need a catcher badly and the Mets need another starting pitcher after losing Steve Trachsel to back surgery. I wonder if any other team out there needs a catcher now?
  21. Well, it looks like I was right about the Dodgers being desperate for a catcher. They are going to send Kaz Ishii to the Mets for Jason Phillips... "Dodgers close to sending Ishii to Mets" http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/3474474 I would have taken Kaz Ishii for Ben Davis in a second. Phillips isn't much better than Davis. Ishii isn't great but he is a decent lefty 5th starter.
  22. "Dodgers close to sending Ishii to Mets" http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/3474474 All Ishii is worth is Jason Phillips? Ishii isn't great but I would think he has more value than a scrub catcher like Phillips. I guess the Dodgers really were desperate for a catcher. No Ben Davis to Dodgers trade now.
  23. I can tell you didn't see the game. Garland pitched horribly today, even though he got out the mess he created in the 9th.
  24. Honestly, I think if we trade Davis it's because Ozzie wants to keep Burke on the roster. Ozzie seems to love Burke and the fact that he can play some 3rd base. Widger would be a solid third string catcher at Charlotte incase of injuries. I don't see us getting much more than a mid-level prospect for Ben Davis though. But who knows? A team like the Dodgers could be desperate for a catcher. David Ross and Paul Bako? :puke
