That is a good question.

Dan Hayes is in Birmingham btw

Well Adolfo too who has turned it around some. We definitely need one of these guys to hit. Was really hoping for a better year out of Nunez, really could use some MI prospects

Would like some big offense today, it's been pretty quiet.

So because it's usually first to drop I've been following DSL. I've noticed almost all of the bigger names from our 2016 draft (Guerrero excluded) are performing pretty well. I thought I'd put this here since it's interesting. Does it mean we have a bunch of stars? No. Just thought I'd do the work so it's easier and because I often mix up who these players are. Assume all are 17 unless listed. OFFENSE THE ONES YOU KNOW Let's get the big dogs out of the way. BTW like most of this class is OF so they haven't played too many games. (OF) Luis Robert 20 yo- .285 / .500 / .463 - good job good effort we all know of him. (OF)Josue Guerrero - .201 / .263 / .363 - 35% k rate, and 3 home runs. He has power, the .150 is h iso isn't bad. Not making contact yet however, and the scouting report aside from sox according to badler was long/loopy swing. THE NEXT TIER (OF)Luis Mieses - 428k - .265 / .307 / .318 no HRs, 3 3bs. Nice 17% k rate but only 9 walks. (OF)Anderson Comas - 425k - .295 / .320 / .338 5 2bs. 18% k rate, again only 7 walks. here was some comas quotes: -BADLER (SS/2b) Lenyn Sosa *IN AZL!!* - .265 / .325 /. 327 - Only a 13% k rate, and an 8% walk rate. 1 home run already. Really impressive for someone his age. Here was a sample: The Surprises © Kleydar Sanchez - 50k - .350 / .392 / .394 15% k rate, 4 walks total. Smaller guy at 5'10 that showcased as OF, but sox took a look at C and put him there. Badler said he had a good arm and was fluid behind plate. (OF) Anthony Coronado - $150k - .282 / .379 /.472 4 HR and 19 2bs. Best power of the 17 year olds. Here was Badler at time The bad? 27% K rate (though he has power) and a 9% walk rate. But again, a better .iso than Robert. THE PITCHERS Caraballo - 350k - The good? 2.33 ERA The fun DSL stuff? 34k and 24 BB in 54 IP. Herrerra - 50k - The good? 2.24 ERA with a more respectable 44k and 16 bb in 64 IP. 1.04 WHIP. Pineda - 50k and is 19, not 17. The good? 3.83 ERA and only 13 walks in 56 IP. The not so good, only 37Ks at an older age. All quotes courtesy of http://www.baseballamerica.com/internation...EZ4YhwVgfrRD.99

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Aug 16, 2017 -> 11:34 AM) Yeah give me the big crowds for the playoffs, but for a regular season game 20-25k is perfect. Yep. It is a bit annoying when only half the vendors are open.

Yeah, US open has had a pretty nice run of storylines recently though, due for a clunker.

Every MLB team will get an extra $50 million from Disney purchase

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 16, 2017 -> 09:50 AM) It is a 1250% ROI. I'd be cool with that. Oh most definitely. But Disney is about to get into streaming. That is just the tip of the iceberg. And all of the new entrants are going to go to MLBAM for technology and expertise, or would have. Disney is about to drop a billion in content, I'm just surprised they didn't get more. -
QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Aug 15, 2017 -> 11:13 PM) Thanks, man. I live NW of ATL so BHam is only an hour and a half..two hours from the house. Been wanting to go check out the Barons on a Kopech night but the rest of the roster was never anyone warranting the drive. With Jiminez and Collins up, Kopech night would be great to catch. Nice, let us know if you go.

Rick Hahn & Kenny Williams Sign Long Term Extensions

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 16, 2017 -> 09:35 AM) I'd argue GarPax were quicker to embrace trades and rebuilding than Kenny. Dude. This hurts me to read. One - different sport and levels of contention Two - Kenny did much more to extend the competitive window of a championship team than they did Three - the vision the sox have shown in their rebuild and, to date, acute timing of the market to maximize returns and show fans what they are intending to do was 1000x fold better than garpax But that the drama in the bulls org is so much worse than KW drama says soemthing. The lying, backstabbing, trashing reputations, and then failing in EVERY attempt to replace the player you said was trash was the most embarrassing episode in Chicago sports in my lifetime IMO. They have pretty much destroyed the NBA for me. -
It's funny because EL is the low man on Cease but seeing him in top ten made me realize how little I think about him. Cease is a really good prospect that would have been our like #2 guy last year.

If I had guessed prior to this I would have imagined them getting a crap ton more. That thing has been a straight up cash cow in a time when people are paying a ton of money for content and are waiting for the returns. But, hope the sox put that $50 million into getting these prospects as good as possible. -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 16, 2017 -> 09:17 AM) There's not a single, unassailable source of news information that this board could agree upon...if there is/was, would love to hear it. By definition, for roughly 35% of the country, only Trump, Fox News and the Wall Street Journal are reliable. Hardly anyone ever reads the likes of Time, Newsweek and US News & World Report anymore. Maybe, I think overall though people would agree that Youtube and Yahoo comment sections aren't worth much.

If I was 81 and didn't want to rebuild and had made tens of millions through sweet heart public financing and connections to MLB, I'd say "I'm going to spend a lot of my own money to build the best player development, talent scouting, and mlb roster" and see what happens but I guess that's why i'm not rich. And the thread devolves into a thousand spirals. Kudos to Hahn and Kenny. WHen compared to Jerry's other dynamic duo they did much more to show vision and leadership. -
I'm not sure "The president is an unreliable source, so I can use other unreliable sources to inform myself" is logical. I called out using comments on Yahoo news as unreliable, I don't need to ground that with naming other unreliable sources e.g. the president. Also unreliable, chain emails from my uncle.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 16, 2017 -> 08:20 AM) It was a unite the right gathering, not a peaceful protest of the removal of a statue President doesn't want to comment until he has all the facts claims. Not sure why you are responding to that with your comment, things like the drive by seem like we would have heard about that. I've heard a mix of some of those things from reports but comment sections have tendency to play telephone with real events. And when they fabricate I think it undercuts the many powerful true stories of Saturday.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 16, 2017 -> 06:26 AM) From Robyn, Charlottesville resident "There seems to be a perception from people outside of charlottesville that what is going on here is two opposing groups coming to town and fighting some ideological battle that has gotten messy. That is not what is happening here. What is happening here is that several hate groups from the extreme right have come together under the "unite the right " banner here in our town and basically started acting as terrorists. This may seem like an exaggeration but it's not. A church service was held over because they had surrounded the building and police had to disperse them. People had to be escorted to their cars. My friend was there with her daughter. Everywhere they meet, businesses close. We had drive by shootings yesterday from a van marked k k k. A car plowed into a huge group of people. I'm sure you saw that on the newsfeeds. What you probably didn't see is that some of those people were on there way back from helping to repel a white supremacist march to predominately black housing development a few blocks away where they were attempting home invasions. I guess they were unfamiliar with the neighborhood. The residents repelled that one before antifa got there but there is some video of the altright folks getting run off on the daily progress twitter feed, if you're interested. So, basically, what I'd like you to understand is, this IS NOT two side egging each other on to unavoidable violence for more attention. This is one side of terrorists declaring that they can and will hold a town hostage (they've been saying it for over a month now, actually) and the town responding to that threat. The car that killed and injured people yesterday? Ohio tags. The medic tents, water bottles, snacks, shade tents (all volunteer, donations, none shut down by police... all manned by that radical left you keep hearing about) yeah, we all live here. I saw a lot of people I knew yesterday, none of them were speaking for unite the right. None of them were escalating violence, most of them were offering some kind of aid and defending. I'm glad you're following the situation, but your generalizations are inaccurate in this case. Be blessed." https://www.yahoo.com/news/lawmakers-weigh-...-082540773.html Top reader comment following this story Rainbow flag flying North Carolina woman confronts man flying Nazi flag at his home https://www.yahoo.com/news/north-carolina-w...-180615457.html https://www.yahoo.com/news/tearful-van-jone...-035620606.html Van Jones broke down as he said he was thinking of his godmother, who is Jewish and whose family had suffered during World War II, and how she cannot count on the President of the United States to defend and sympathize with her. “It’s not just the people you’re emboldening,” Jones said of Trump’s comments. “It’s the people you’re abandoning, who now don’t know if they have a government that gives a damn about them ...
