  1. Well, fine. Sure. Would rather be 2-14 than 4-12. I say browns shock the world and we may fight it out.
  2. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 21, 2016 -> 03:50 PM) I don't think the answer is "Jerry being cheap". The answer more en-lies that given where we stand within the city of Chicago and where the fan base is as a whole, we have certain payroll constraints. Some years you can push past them, but there are real constraints that limit how you can go about building your team. We can't play financially with the biggest boys, but outside of those 5 or 7 teams, we can play with the rest payroll wise (some years on the higher side, some years slightly lower, but we can play). That said, there is a big drop off between the top tier spenders and the lower tiers and as a result, the options to build your team are more limited and if you do what the Sox did, it is almost impossible not to "half ass" it (i.e., give yourself a chance, but a, only if things work out as planned to better then planned across the board). Not saying a total miracle but most of your players are at expectations with a few performing over expectations (minimal injuries, etc). When I read that though, I can't help but think about Jerry being an "all-in" owner without the all-in budget. If he wanted to run like a midmarket team, I think we'd see something different, one that would have taken more seriously the cost-controlled benefits of a strong farm system. But he likes getting names, and he likes putting a winning effort, but within means. Is he cheap? No, we aren't the A's. But is he cheap considering the type of franchise he wants to run? Yes.
  3. Might as well, yeah.
  4. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 21, 2016 -> 11:17 AM) Loggains has no idea how to call a consistent offensive game. He just abandons the run game in the second half every f***ing time. Howard gets like 70 to 100 yards in the first half of just about every game he starts and then disappears in the second half. Although dude needs to work with the jugs machine Yeah. Bears offense isn't good but being the only team that hasn't had 24 points in a game is not a way to keep your job. Run offense has been a joy, could easily have transitioned to a power running team.
  5. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 21, 2016 -> 10:44 AM) Rondo was absolutely brutal on Saturday and Sunday. That said, both of those games were extremely fun to watch. I don't know why we didn't have Butler have the rock more yesterday. He looked like he could score on every single possession. Lakers had no one who could guard him. Valentine is going to be a player. Has a smoothness to his game. Not saying all pro or something, but he's going to be a good pro. Rondo needs to assert himself offensively because right now he's passing up too many good looks and then by doing so, putting our offense in a worse spot (I realize he can't shoot, but these are shots that should be high percentage even for him). Rondo will be gone at the end of the year anyway when we try to lure Chris Paul. Did you see the play on Saturday where Rondo blew right by his man and had a clear lane to the hoop, and then passed it out to Portis at 3 point range, who was immediately guarded? It was infuriating, Bulls needed a bucket then too.
  6. I feel like we've been saying this for 3 years now. Football is not fun to watch when you are just following the 4th-5th depth chart guys go against each other. I know Bears aren't along and that's kind of my point. Maybe football isn't being watched because it's hard to get up to watch two teams limping against each other.
  7. Two things I was very wrong about was how decent Canaan has been (wanted Dinwiddie more, but to be fair to myself that was before MCW came aboard) and how good Robin Lopez looks away from NYK.
  8. That's kind of an odd takeaway, that it's the insurance companies colluding to avoid paying doctors. They are colluding to help keep YOUR out of pocket costs down too. The provider have been able to charge amounts for services in the united states that are double and triple what the ame would be elsewhere. And that goes into the salaries of the providers.
  9. http://deadspin.com/bill-simmons-isnt-too-...fail-1788556607 Pretty brutal read. The Ringer is in a tailspin the past few months. Something has just been off about it. One - it was totally safe. Without Wesley Morris and others their culture reporting just devolved into "the ringer take" on the obvious hot button issue of day. Mays is fine, but he's not Barnwell. There's no Zach Lowe. And Netwerk can only do so much. That and why can't simmons just do a damn mailbag? Simmons 5-6 years ago was really good. But even reading his tweets now he's like a wounded puppy, that knows he kind of lost touch with the pop culture pulse and just keeps piping on about wrestling and deflategate.
  10. Going to post actual NYTimes article because it was pretty good: http://www.nytimes.com/2016/11/21/us/alt-r...trump.html?_r=0
  11. Felt so good going into the year with AJ Green, Alshon, Sammy Watkins and Larry Fitzgerald. Spent my auction money on that group. Now it's down to Larry and need Sterling Shephard to be good. sigh.
  12. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Nov 21, 2016 -> 12:07 AM) The face we are 3-1 on this roadtrip is amazing. We were without Doug and Rondo the first two games then Doug and Wade tonight. We desperately need a vet big man though, Portis just isn't cutting it out there Yeah we've had starts before where it looked like offense was acceptable/good only to run into rude awakening on this trip. Though the improved defense has been better sign.
  13. Brutal last three minutes of this game
  14. Are we really reading article comments as some sort of evidence of anything?
  15. Actually I gotta say that is a meaningful difference.
  16. Overall continue to be very impressed by bulls, this 3pt shot Wade, dominant Jimmy and especially Robin Lopez are "leap" improvements over last year. But one thing I think we say will be our killer this year is this switching on defense.
  17. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Nov 19, 2016 -> 11:59 PM) Terrible call. Home cooking. Seriously awful.
  18. Man. Still don't like Rondo. Not sure Hoiberg does either.
  19. I do feel like a guy like Jones could get more from "close" team at deadline. But his injury history makes me want to move him now.
  20. He should maybe win office somewhere.
  21. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 18, 2016 -> 12:53 PM) Judging by how quiet things have been, seems like we're struggling to find trade partners for any of our players. It's November 18th!
  22. Macklemore is when your middle school history teacher creates a rap about the civil war to connect with the youth. "I bet you think the civil war was boring, well let me tell you somethin that happened 4 score-and" *kids drop heads in hands*
