  1. Director of comms from Exxon mobile https://twitter.com/SuzanneMcCarron/status/...747352816156672 There's a chance the global push has made it more incentivized to appear conscious regardless
  2. Bloomberg wouldn't get through dem primary.
  3. QUOTE (sammy esposito @ Nov 11, 2016 -> 12:50 PM) replacing frazier with Davidson is risky. Davidson has yet to prove himself. Frazier is the real deal , how many 3rd basemen do we have to go through just to find one not Frazier's equal. We have frazier for another year. What do you expect to accomplish next year?
  4. https://www.bloomberg.com/view/articles/201...rce=twitter.com This is going to be so funny. McCardle is an honest critic and frankly I have severe regret about Obamacare and the wonk solutions that will not stick. But it is going to be so funny to see honest coverage of obamacare now that it will go away. Suddenly instead of only focusing on everything terrible, people will be interested in what they lose.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 11, 2016 -> 11:59 AM) The people in the electoral college aren't in partisan leadership? Huh, that is new to me. OK - fair enough but I guess I don't know what you are talking about then. I thought you were talking about the petition to have the electoral college overturn the results b/c clinton won pop vote. But also, electors are a reflection of state party leadership and that does not always = what we mean when talking about the democratic party leaders.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 11, 2016 -> 11:58 AM) Honestly, f*** the Republicans. But that doesn't really fit the meme's, so whatever. Right, but they have power. It's okay for people to speak up. And speaking up does not mean that it enables Trump. The only thing that enables trump is voting for him. I know you didn't. I know you are against a lot of the awful things he said. But they also weren't directed at you, and to the people they were they are justifiably scared. But the dem leadership has accepted the result. The president has reached out and all of the opponents are rooting for his success. That does NOT mean Americans that he promised to punish need to accept the language of his candidacy.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 11, 2016 -> 11:54 AM) Again, we can go around and around in circles with who did what, who said what, etc. Reminder - the person that said it is the president elect. The other people you are talking about will not be in the democratic leadership. Can you tell me that you are confident that if a terrorist attack, even minor, happens on US soil when Trump is president we will see a presidential response? Because if not the fear was justified.
  8. At some point the Republicans can take responsibility for themselves for electing this completely unqualified man who campaigned on punishing Americans. The party of personal responsibility.
  9. "Same People". Glad to know we've established that people on your facebook feed have the same power of their opinions as the President elect.
  10. Cuomo has no constituency nationally.
  11. Well teaching them how to be a plumber in a low-density neighborhood isn't solving structural unemployment. Best case you make mobility as easy as possible but likely case its only marginally effective because people stay in places for lots of reasons.
  12. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 11, 2016 -> 09:51 AM) Maybe but I think he's just bad at this point. A few years back, I would have jumped all over a trade for him but I don't think he's ever going to be anything more than a 4th of. Yeah, I should add I had a great sentence to finish off that thought "for a rebuilding team". Frazier for Soler not really my bag but I think getting players like that is smart to flip later
  13. Jobs training - these have just not been effective, but they make people feel good because it theoretically supports work and not just welfare. But, gotta say I'd prefer pork infrastructure spending like bridges to nowhere than something that promises work that can't deliver.
  14. We're coming off an 8 year presidency where he had exact same exp. as Harris. I think Booker is fools gold. Gillibrand is going to have money and party leader Chuck Schumer. Warren will be old.
  15. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 06:36 PM) In other election news, a dead man was elected treasurer in Oceanside, CA https://www.google.com/amp/www.nbcsandiego.....html%3Famp%3Dy Great west wing episode.
  16. QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 04:59 PM) Well, while I think you are on the high end, I would anticipate the costs of a rebuilt roster to be much lower than 20-30% lower than our current payroll costs. The one kind of funny thing about the rebuild is the big parts of our payroll are really hard to move. Sale/Q/Jones/Eaton barely make a dent. Melky/Robertson you aren't really selling to "rebuild", would largely be cost-cutting.
  17. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 03:58 PM) Ha, good point. Forgot about that. Our President and First Lady have had countless numbers of those people in the White House as role models and first class citizens. But, ya know, #itsdifferent. He was being sarcastic. For your hypothetical to work, the entire criticism of Trump and women would be based off of his howard stern interviews. But they are not about those, they are about the tape where he talks about forcing himself on women because he's famous.
  18. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 03:54 PM) He didn't say anything about Muslim-Americans http://www.nytimes.com/2016/07/31/us/polit...azala.html?_r=0
  19. QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 03:31 PM) The biggest issue with Trump on LGBT rights is his choice of replacement for Scalia and for any other justice that steps down during Trump's presidency. The list of justices that Trump released during his campaign are all hard line right wing justices. Conservatives, since Obergfell, have decried activist judges who dared to provide gays with the right to marry. There's plenty of evidence to suggest that, even if Trump doesn't care about those issues personally, his administration, and those that he appoints to his administration, will actively work to undo the progress made on LGBT rights over the last 20 years. It won't be with Scalia, issue will be if RBG/Kennedy/Breyer need to retire/die. RBG is 84.
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 03:02 PM) It's one thing if you have a top prospect or 2 sprinkled in. But that line up is beyond putrid. It's one thing to be bad. It's another thing to be lucky to win 40 games bad. Oh, no doubt, that lineup is bad for Charlotte.
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 02:52 PM) That would be one of the worst teams in the history of the league. You and whoever they were playing and their fans would be the only ones who didn't have a problem with that line up. I understand the concept of rebuilding. I understand why some really want it, and some thing a step or two back makes sense, but it's clear you don't spend much money if any on White Sox baseball if you are OK with that line up. Many still do. I don't spend a lot, but many still do. They won't if they got it up the ass like that. I think reality is we would see better players but they would be young (benintendi) and unreliable. Will still be really bad early on. Many of the rumored position players are likely starters on our team.
  22. QUOTE (Deadpool @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 02:06 PM) I really hope you're right. Steve's predictions are never wrong
  23. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 01:56 PM) He got 2 million less votes than Romney and 1 million less than McCain so....no, I don't think he did. Not so much total voter count as the behavior and vitriol of the trump camp. I don't know about you, but when Romney was running my Jewish friends never got told that they will be put in the ovens when Trump wins (obviously on Twitter).
  24. It is certainly wrong to beat and rob someone because of who they voted for/any reason.
