  1. QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 17, 2016 -> 11:34 AM) When the FO appears to operate a multimillion dollar operation as if it is a family-owned hardware store, with poor results, and then continues to operate that way despite those poor results, then yes, the criticism is valid. I like this, this is exactly how I would interpret the state of the sox. A declining patriarch with a lot of longtime employees, not performing as it once did, and nobody willing to make the changes that need to happen to put it back on the right track.
  2. QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 17, 2016 -> 11:21 AM) Him and Walkup will draw tickets for the Windy City Bulls! I'd be interested to go to one and see what it's like (I probably won't go actually but in theory!)
  3. Chris Getz is not Theo Epstein, because Chris Getz was not handpicked by Larry Lucchino to move to a new org with him and got to study under a man that had proven to be able to build a winning organization. Getz now gets to learn under buddy bell, and a group that has not made playoffs in 8 years.
  4. Although MCW had hip surgery so he may be terrible in all facets now.
  5. Again, I will credit Loggains for getting back on track. I was scared after first two games that he was unable to do what Gase had, which was sustain long drives (even if unscoring) to keep defense off field and limit total opportunities for opposing offense. Yesterday was THAT times ten, and until we get a more opportunistic defense, I think it's a great strategy. Re: mcnown. That mcnown-marcus robinson year was really fun. One of the losing seasons you are fine with because it seemed like things were trending.
  6. That said, though this is "unoriginal" in that it was inspired by movie, this narrative structure is pretty out there and I support them trying to figure it out.
  7. I'm still watching westworld but I was expecting it to start hitting a groove. The parts where it starts to "recreate" the robot loops, even though we see the differences, are kind of tedious. And when we experience new story lines, I kind of just want to fastforward them. There's something about that plot device that is so tedious to experience.
  8. BTW zipser, right?! I doubt we'll see much of him in reg season but I kinda hope we put him in dleague to develop.
  9. Defensive specialist MCW has more of a role than Snell, who likely would have been beaten out by canaan (who hits 3s), zipser (hits 3s) and dinwiddie (meh). Snell was unlikely to make this team. We are losing zero production other players off scrap heap couldn't recreate.
  10. I kinda believe if you put Jordan Howard behind that line you would see only marginally less production than EE. But man, has to feel good to be cowboys. In one draft you remade your offense (future QB and future RB), and have a huge possible defensive stud coming next year.
  11. The thing about coaching is...I don't feel like bears are more talented than Jags. At all. I dont' actually think there is a team aside from Browns we are more talented than.
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 17, 2016 -> 09:52 AM) It's from people who think any tie to the White Sox means they can't do what they will be hired to do, although many want Dave Martinez to manage. He played in more games for the White Sox than Chris Getz. People would rather have an idiot with no White Sox ties, than a bright guy like Getz just because he played about 120 games for the team. It's ridiculous. For all intents and purposes, Chris Getz is an outside hire. All of his management training has come from the Royals. This loyalty shtick is getting old. Why does no one mention Bobby Thigpen, someone I am sure JR feels more loyalty to than Chris Getz, is out of a job? Because he was replaced by another org guy? The white sox organization is not trending up. And their response has been to double down on their process including continuing to hire inexperienced people with previous ties to org. It hasn't worked out well prior, but we are not allowed to criticize because we don't know...well, you can never predict the future but I can tell you that due to past results I'm very skeptical.
  13. QUOTE (shipps @ Oct 17, 2016 -> 09:59 AM) I honestly dont know what the Bears offense is. Yeah, it certainly doesn't seem like it would be so ridgid we're fitting players into it.
  14. QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ Oct 17, 2016 -> 08:51 AM) McCown didn't play scared though. He just played. His production was definitely a bubble but it didn't matter. Hoyer seems like he's aware that he's in a bubble. I mean, he's a backup though. I don't want Hoyer to be a longterm starter, but I'm content with the org taking the opportunity of this season to truly tank and make a clean break into new era. But, for what we paid him to do, Hoyer is good. I mean, we've seen Claussen, Hanie, I don't even remember the guy who Hanie replaced. Todd Collins? Jason Campbell was crap when I thought he would be best backup we've had when he signed.
  15. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Oct 17, 2016 -> 08:42 AM) The idea is that the money isn't really for the speech; it's for favors down the road. Which seems plausible. I wouldn't go to a Hillary Clinton speech for free. This is a very apt critique of Clinton and I think something that is helpful to have Warren and Sanders in the SENATE and not the admin for. https://newrepublic.com/article/132796/dont...ton-transcripts But re: money. Should be pointed out that Barney Frank gives speeches to wall street for money, and as a writer of dodd frank, the origin of all evil, that seems weird! edit: should be pointed out this was pre leaks, and was almost more on point after as they did correctly call out what they would be. For talk of clinton as a windsock...she actually has a lot of public stances that you can hold her to and see that they are a pretty good indicator of what she'll do!
  16. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 17, 2016 -> 07:41 AM) Because Trump grabs women by the p****. That's all that matters in this election. Gregs rehashed bs accusations have been responded to ad nauseum in this thread, surprisingly he never seems to respond to them, nor most other anti-Hillary voters. And they take time to write! Weird huh? It's almost like they don't actually care about the response. I should definitely keep taking time to engage in interesting debate with all of you.
  17. QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ Oct 16, 2016 -> 05:27 PM) I can't think of a QB I've watched who generates so much offensive volume but has so little impact on the game as Hoyer. I guess he is the perfect John Fox quarterback. He simply exists, and he doesn't really do much for the game positively or negatively. He's so god damn timid in the red zone, it's like he knows everyone notices he has no interceptions and as soon as he throws one the bubble will pop. He's just the latest guy to show up and milk the f*** out of Not Being Jay Cutler. This was a vintage John Fox loss. Technically show up to play the game, do the minimum, allow yourself to lose. You just know that at the end of the game, Fox was playing for a field goal even though he had 2 minutes to score a touchdown. That said...you can still run a passing offense with Hoyer. He is alone with Josh McCown of true backups that you can run an offense with. *Shane Matthews/ Jim Miller don't count as that was not offense.
  18. QUOTE (Jake @ Oct 16, 2016 -> 08:18 PM) Worth considering the possibility that somebody else will be assuming the responsibilities normally given to the person with this job title Go on
  19. People felt good about hostetler and thrilled with paddy, even liked Stevenson. It's untrue anyone would have been met with pitchforks. For instance, an asst director of player dev from another successful org could have been very intriguing. Instead, a former sox player with no real resume. It just hasn't really worked for us. There is no Coop can fix em here
  20. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Oct 16, 2016 -> 05:05 PM) Our only trade deadline addition was a New Trier kid. The new director of player development a former Michigan student. All Hahn needs to do is add a Harvard Law grad somewhere in the org and he's covered most of his alma maters. "Barack Obama named new asst director of player personnel"
  21. QUOTE (balfanman @ Oct 16, 2016 -> 04:44 PM) Maybe it's not Fox so much as the talent his GM has given him to work with? That and all the injuries, particularly to first and second round picks. Did Leonard Floyd even play today? I do not remember his name being called. Injured.
  22. QUOTE (daggins @ Oct 16, 2016 -> 04:42 PM) Like, who is the strong leadership figure Getz is going to get his guidance from early on when he is still green? Is it Kenny Williams? Don Cooper? Frickin' Buddy Bell?? This is a great question.
  23. I had an exchange with Keith Law to see if Getz had any reputation as a fast riser or anything, and alas, he said no
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 16, 2016 -> 03:43 PM) So, I'd still say give Fox more time next year, but you're starting to see the Fox Hunters circling. Yeah, you don't want to turn into Browns/Raiders territory
