  1. I assume he asked the writers who gave the situation his routine during the trump roast to help him for this one.
  2. Was the White House Correspondents Dinner covered as much pre-YouTube/broadband connections? I don't recall 90s seeing references to it, not really until Colbert and Lewis Black were hosts do I recall seeing it get much info. Now that more people watch that, the "comedic president" is getting better writers.
  3. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 21, 2016 -> 10:15 AM) Lol come on now, read this sentence out loud Sorry *I really wish Connor Shaw didn't get injured *Knowing now that the Bears would have a 1-6 record and 2 injured quarterbacks, at least I could watch one of my favorite college quarterbacks of all time play
  4. I really wish Connor Shaw didn't get injured.
  5. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Oct 20, 2016 -> 01:40 PM) His value is probably not as high as you think. While he remains a productive hitter, Abreu just ranked 11th among first baseman in wRC+ and just 14th in fWAR. Further, he is about to opt into his first of three arbitration seasons, and his raise will be beginning from a base of about $13m per year. Given that his cumulative RBI and homerun totals (which tend to be the types of numbers that drive arb prices up) overrate his overall production, he's going to be making close to his actual market value very quickly. If he produces like he did this season going forward, in fact, he may even be at market value on opening day of 2017. That doesn't mean we should dump him or anything, but it means that the return may not be worth much (if any) more than what we get by keeping him around. Plus, by all accounts, Abreu seems to be one of the only calm and stabilizing leadership personalities in the clubhouse, so his value to the White Sox may very well be more than it is to another contender. Agreed and considering the troubles the White Sox have had in finding an average DH the last few years he is probably more valuable to us than any other team in that respect too.
  6. FYI McCain walked back. He is toeing line trying to gin up support for House/Sen republican races. McCain has done a lot of things I hate, but I'm going to give him some room here because at least he has now disowned the nominee but I don't expect him to also give up on the rest of the party.
  7. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Oct 20, 2016 -> 10:30 AM) Am I that delusional as I watch these playoffs to think the White Sox are not that far off? I don't see stacked lineups and deep rotations. Hell the Dodgers only have two starting pitchers and one of them is the definition of lightening in a bottle. The Giants offense was abysmal and the Dodgers are not much better. The White Sox had 2 players above .800 OPS and 1 just under, the Dodgers have 4 players above .800 OPS and 1 just under it. The Cleveland Indians had 5 players above an .800 OPS and one just under. It took us 3 of our top prospects to net Todd Frazier and his .760 OPS. How do you expect we double our elite offensive players without spending $200 million or gutting our already poor farm system. And that's before bullpens.

  9. QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ Oct 20, 2016 -> 08:56 AM) I was going to say this My son was born by C-section. Is that technically an abortion? Should I stop taking care of him or...? Governor Pence would force you to have a funeral for your living son.
  10. http://www.blogabull.com/platform/amp/2016...n?client=safari Poor Steve.
  11. I think we should really get rid of the townhall format. This works better.
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 19, 2016 -> 05:03 PM) Otoh, the Marlins have two more World Series trophies than the Tigers in the past twenty years despite those massive Detroit payrolls...would they rather have a World Series win or Hall of Famer in Cabrera? Their world series rings were pre-cabrera trade, so why is that a choice they would need to make.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 19, 2016 -> 11:56 AM) It will look a bit out of place with what is around it, but it looks like a nice building. I like it. especially lake side, you are usually taking a long view. It is not THAT far from taller buildings, and it makes sense considering nothing can build in front of it to add height.
  14. Man, Newt Gingrich advocating investigating the Clintons, this is some pretty damning stuff
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 19, 2016 -> 03:19 PM) If a Sale or Q trade worked out the same way the Miggy trade worked out for the Marlins, there would be a lot of unhappiness. There is risk in everything, including keeping Sale and Q on losing teams with possibility they get injured.

QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Oct 19, 2016 -> 03:08 PM) Oh s***, the "unexpected Tesla reveal" tonight, which will be in just under 4 hours, is Model 3 Part 2!!! I'm losing my s*** right now. Most of us thought Part 2 of the reveal would be sometime in summer 2020. Weird how there wasn't much leading up to this, and by all rights, it's a much quieter reveal than part 1 was on March 31st, but still, I'm absolutely paralyzed with excitement to see what my future car will look like. :o :o
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 19, 2016 -> 01:57 PM) Plus Dombrowski has a history of selling to get what he wants. I was going through his trades though and man he made a lot of good ones. There were not any desperate "Shelby Miller" trades in there.
  18. The only thing with Buck is sometimes I find his manner of announcing dispassionate. Really big triumphant moments are just met same as any other.
  19. This is my favorite Coz [ 10:04 PM ]: I feel stupid that we thought they were good enough. I just saw Bryant swing and miss at two fastballs in the strike zone. That's not good enough.
  20. QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 19, 2016 -> 12:47 PM) Boaty McBoatface I still laugh every time I think about that, and then cry.
  21. https://twitter.com/zachhaller/status/788761831376498688 Why isn't the media covering that Podesta was SIGNED UP for the new york times newsletter first draft? This bias is insane.

  23. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Oct 19, 2016 -> 09:56 AM) Recap: O'keefe exposed some things, failed miserably at others. Dems practiced shady to illegal actions. O'keefe and his team also did some very shady to illegal actions to uncover this material. Foval is an asshole, glad he's gone. Trump's spokesperson claims he's a genius. Ugh. Considering the amount of O'Keefe videos that when the full edit arrives vindicates the person involved yet still ruins the career of the person involved, I would not jump to conclusions that any shady or illegal actions took place. What I think of
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 19, 2016 -> 09:51 AM) But apparently he can be a young Michael Carter-Williams You lose your "young card" as soon as you have hip surgery
  25. The meatball in me says that while Arrieta and Hendricks are great pitchers, they are NL fools gold that aren't on same level as having a Kershaw/Bumgarner/...Syndegaard (even though they will certainly get chance in their playoffs of becoming the stopper that randomly comes in late and has success) Just a bunch of fooools gold.
