World Series: Indians vs. Cubs
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 30, 2016 -> 11:02 AM) It seems the one thing the White Sox did right this year was to get their butts kicked by Cleveland early and often this year so that they could make the playoffs. But that one 3 run hr Avi game was great

World Series: Indians vs. Cubs
Just read a good fangraphs piece that I can't find now that I'm on my phone of how Francona has been able to use his three best relievers at any point (thanks be to miller), while Maddon has barely been able to pitch strop/Rondon/chapman because chapman's primadonna routines and "injuries" to strop/Rondon. I'm not buying the injuries stuff. Rondon and strop have looked good, and it's the World Series, what are you waiting for?

Yeah they look amazing. Especially Lopez, he has extended like 10 possessions. Bulls pace is so much better this year.

http://www.latimes.com/politics/la-na-pol-...1028-story.html See paragraph 4. I am sympathetic to Comey being forced to update based off of testimony, unsympathetic to lack of info so many other agents willing to divulge OTR

White Sox Claim Rymer Liriano
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 28, 2016 -> 04:05 PM) I think he meant Tilson's injury. Liriano took one to the face and missed the 2016 season. He is a lottery ticket. Probably will never make the team. YEah Tilson was who I was asking about.

White Sox Claim Rymer Liriano
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 28, 2016 -> 03:34 PM) With the injury he had, he very well could be losing a step or two. Not gonna lie, I kinda checked out around this time. Did he go down with a hammy or knee injury?

The Decline of White Sox Fan Culture
QUOTE (captain54 @ Oct 28, 2016 -> 12:15 PM) or anything old .. for that matter.... just think of the Billions of $$$ that could be saved with the elimination of history curriculums in HS's and Universities across the nation.. not to mention literature, philosophy, law, classical music, opera, architecture, design studies, etc... At least the removal of all of that would eliminate some of the non sequiters from this conversation. "Let's review 50 years of history" "WHY ARE YOU ELIMINATING THE JURASSIC PERIOD"

2016 Presidential Election Thread
So it's confirmed by NYT that the devices were recovered due to the FBI probe into the Weiner sexting with a teen scandal (I assume across state lines?), that then meant they took Huma Abedin's phone's as a part of the investigation. Anthony weiner's dick picks spurred this, pretty crazy election I'd say.

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Oct 28, 2016 -> 01:57 PM) I thought the same thing. Why on earth reopen this if there's no substance to it. http://www.newsweek.com/fbi-reviewing-more...n-emails-514825 Well - and then there's this. Bottom line: it's complicated. Still think more information is needed. Considering he has gone outside norms to give more information on this case before, strange he wouldn't do so now.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 28, 2016 -> 01:10 PM) Barring changes in the CBA to disallow it, I see no reason why he won't be on the Viciedo track - offer him arbitration but with only a small $25k charge if he is cut at the end of spring training so as to keep the contract non-guaranteed. Good call.- 2016 Presidential Election Thread
I also take back what I said of being understanding of FBI's predicament as the posting of a vague letter and then the numerous leaks of clarification is white sox level execution.- 2016 Presidential Election Thread
QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 28, 2016 -> 01:41 PM) Again with all due respect ... I didn't intend on dropping that cigarette butt in the trash can in my failing restaurant and didn't know it would burn down." etc etc. That was a very weak excuse of Comey the first time. In your scenario, that's the difference between arson and not being charged with anything.- 2016 Presidential Election Thread

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 28, 2016 -> 01:25 PM) Odds are a more favorable jury as the state court jury would be entirely from rural Harney County whereas the federal court jury was from across the entire state, but you never know. The charges that the state would bring are also a lot more simple and straight-forward than a conspiracy case. But the weapons charge was also cut and dry.- 2016 Presidential Election Thread
QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Oct 28, 2016 -> 12:50 PM) Semantics I suppose, but they're looking into it: “I agreed that the FBI should take appropriate investigative steps designed to allow investigators to review these emails to determine whether they contain classified information, as well as to assess their importance to our investigation." I actually kind of feel bad for FBI here. On one hand, more explanation is needed, the timing requires more than a 3 paragraph letter. On the other hand, they found more information through an unrelated case, and learned of it yesterday, and need to say that. But...you leave yourself open to jason chaffetz being an idiot too.- Oregon
In civics classes, they often made jury nullification out to be kind of romantic, and used to fight broader injustices against clear crimes committed. But man, sure seems like it's mainly used historically to prop up white defendants with racist (deep south) or petty grievances (not being allowed to used land that does not belong to you). - Your Offseason Wishlist
