Delegate Math and the GOP
The GOP is unlikely going to deal with a brokered convention. Think about how long elections are now, they aren't going to want to only introduce their candidate 3 months before election before focusing their message. Trump and Cruz have already shown ability to play nice. Eventually the GOP will fall in line. Rubio will drop out after FLA.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Mar 1, 2016 -> 07:18 PM) I was in 9th all year until the 2nd half of the year. I had Harvey and Kluber the 1st half until I traded them. It's an auction league and sign them to contracts. Read my leagues rules on the last page. Got it. That's insane and hard.

2015-2016 NBA Thread
QUOTE (Chi Town Sox @ Mar 1, 2016 -> 03:43 PM) I just think it was a weird fit, personally. Harden is the ballhandler there Right. I thought he would just run a 2nd unit and increase the leads the way the bench mob used to do in Chicago. He may go look to be a starter but I'd enjoy seeing him signed as an experiment. Couldn't hurt.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 1, 2016 -> 01:26 PM) Ty Lawson getting bought out. Wouldn't mind the Bulls picking him up to see if he's truly terrible or if he was just terrible for Houston. Can't be worse than what we have. I think.

I don't understand how your keepers is an entire roster but you still say there will be top 20 pitching talent.

My blue jays fan friend was shocked when we were moving lawrie off third. He said the best parts about him were quick reactions and his arm. But I don't know how that plays at 2nd with the needed range.

**2016 Films Thread**
I think Mad Max was actually one of the best storytelling movies I've seen in a long time. And I mean that in how the actual filmmaking was telling the story, as opposed to a screenplay and dialogue. The pace was right on. This year we saw filmmakers do an incredible job of keeping their stories moving. Spotlight took an incredibly difficult story to tell, that goes off the rails in so many "serious movies", and was pitch perfect. Same with Big Short. But I don't think those were any more difficult to make than Mad Max. At this point, safe to assume almost all of its audience was familiar but probably hadn't seen Mad Max originals. He set up the backstory with minimal drag, and jumped right into it. I think the "Then who killed the world" line was one of the best in the movies. Looking back, this year with Creed, Big Short, Spotlight, Mad Max and star wars, had to be one of my favorite years in a while. November/December especially.

Our Defense is Still Bad
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Mar 1, 2016 -> 10:10 AM) The most depressing thing he said, IMO, was a tidbit last week that didn't seem to jump out to anyone -- when talking about attendance, he said something like "the payroll figure is going to stay the same, so it didn't hurt us there." That, if true, means they do not intend to sign anyone of significance. Which, coupled with the fact that they added literally zero significant free agent salary this year, makes me think that the "big fish" were only ever going to be limited exceptions, and that Hahn was not actually working with much of any budget room to begin with. Frazier's salary is significant, but it was offset by losing Samardzija's. The catcher platoon adds up, but it's less than what they lost in Alexei. The directive of "turn your 75 win team into a contender without adding any net salary whatsoever" just does not seem like a sound line of thought to me. Right. I was fooled, but was right all along. I still think this team is much faster to a playoff birth had we sold this offseason than bought.

Chris Nolan should watch Mad Max over and over again for how to build a unique world without just explaining the rules of the world for 4 hours.

Adam Eaton "Racial" Tweet Controversy
QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Feb 29, 2016 -> 03:13 PM) When Chris Rock did his "man on the street" thing with black people outside a movie theater in Compton, he asked them if they saw (fill in the blank "white" movie). The answer was pretty much "no" across the board. If, as a community, you largely ignore "white" films, how can you be outraged when black actors/films aren't nominated? If you, as a community, don't see the work done by white actors in "white" films, what is your frame of reference for outrage? This brings up a good point, man on the street things are always good frames of reference to understand a community.

2016 Democratic Thread
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Feb 29, 2016 -> 11:36 AM) I guess this makes sense. I have a friend that votes for every Republican on every ticket because he claims to be a "Republican". You make a good point though. I think there are differences though. Kasich and Cruz are from the same party but are very different. I'm with Republicans on smaller form of government and similar issues but I can't go with them on almost any social issue. I could vote for someone like Kasich. I couldn't vote for Cruz. That's all I meant. If you go Republican because you dislike Hillary or go with Hillary because you are afraid of Trump I understand that. But I still think that far too many people ignore what is actually being said by the candidates and go with Democrat or Republican because they feel like they are supposed to. On a local and even state level, it's usually makes a lot more sense to vote on single issues which may not lead you to a single party. But at a national level, hard to see when I would ever vote for republican party. Mark Kirk seems like a nice guy, he may vote with dems every once in a while, but he's never helping things GET to a vote, so he's useless to me.

Adam Eaton "Racial" Tweet Controversy
QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Feb 29, 2016 -> 02:08 PM) He apologized, it's over. I really don't care about this. Often, people use verbiage like this to hide their racism, but I honestly don't believe Adam Eaton is a racist or anything like that. I just think he may not have known the context for why Chris Rock was giving the monologue he gave.
