  7. I don't know, I feel like I've complained more about the MLB not forcing the warm weather teams to host the first week, Not sure I can then complain about the start times. Like - I find it dumb that LAD played SD. Have two cold weather teams come out for the first week to hopefully continue to thaw.
  8. Yeah it's not really close to me either. I worry I only would get peanuts.

  12. Honestly if you are a great NFL scout and reporter that should be self-evident, that he constantly finds it necessary to snipe others that are able to do what he does without having to have failed in an NFL front office tells me a lot.
  13. Regardless of whose fault it is, until we discover we have someone who can steal bases as a strength I'd prefer we stop being aggressive.
  14. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 5, 2016 -> 11:49 AM) The same scenario exists with most politicans, imo. It baffles me how they can make so many promises and so many people can believe it, when structurally it is damn near impossible to do something about it. For example, Trump, how is he going to deport 12M (or whatever the number is) illegal aliens. Seriously, how is he going to do that. Are we going to have national guards going door to door and marshall law to deport all these people? Its about the only way I can see it happening? And no, I don't support his policy. I do support a strong border as I believe it is integral to our security but I also support legal immigration and I also realize that whatever the cost (both actual cash outlay as well as emotional damage to up-root people, the vast majority who have worked hard and done things that ultimately support our economy and our infrastructure and who risked everything to come here for the pure hope that American brings) far outweighs what it would cost to create a program to legalize those existing people (while strengthening the borders to ensure that we can go forward with properly vetting and determining an appropriate process for legal immigration). Now when it gets to that extent, I don't have the simple answer. Well, to be honest, I think this is largely fine. We ask these people about a large range of topics, many of which will never change. But there's also a possibility that an event could occur pushing something to the forefront, and it's a worthwhile exercise to know where they stand on it. I don't think Sanders necessarily needs to have a fully fleshed out single payer system, that doesn't bother me. This bothers me more. If you are going to basically accuse all of your contemporaries of being in the pocket of big banks, and that wall street is by its very nature corrupt, and then can't speak beyond platitudes on that, that's almost...insincere! That almost seems like something a politician would do. I can't see Warren stumbling over that stuff. Also, I love how the interview seems to push that, hey, maybe dodd frank actually does things. "How would you do this" "well I would use Dodd Frank"...Dodd Frank, the useless piece of legislation bought and paid for by banks and pushed by corporate democrats?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 5, 2016 -> 11:16 AM) Reading about this, I am shocked at how little is said about figures and politicians from the United States. Is there more stuff that includes that angle, is it not being talked about, or does it not exist? Couple things I've read about this - 1) THey are still going through massive troves of complicated data. The US citizens implicated so far are literally ones that had passports in the document dump as those that incorporated through that firm. 2) The US has individual states that work well enough to create shell companies. They may not have needed a specialized firm to take care of their business, their own firm may have been fine to do this knowing US law well enough.
  17. I know Wilkerson is great, and I will support any move to acquire him, I really don't think we should have to give up so much to Jets considering we will have to pay him market value.

I incorrectly said David Cameron's son has the shell, but it's his father.
  20. QUOTE (Doc Edwards Shot @ Apr 5, 2016 -> 10:08 AM) On that note, I don't get America's obsession with caffeine either - all that Starbucks coffee crap, Red Bulls, etc. It's like half the population can't function without a coffee in their hands these days. Caffeine is not unique to America.

This was a very good article bringing some interesting points to think about, especially with so much of this money from Russia/China. http://www.vox.com/2016/4/5/11361992/panam...uthoritarianism

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 5, 2016 -> 09:24 AM) re: the US, one of the principle people behind this said something like "just wait for what's next." Iceland's government might be dissolved over their President's undisclosed investments. Putin is dirty as hell but really nothing shocking there. That was a more malicious (edit: meant to say provocative, not malicious) translation than what was actually said, it was translated from German from an editor at the Suddeutsche Zeitung, and the more accurate translation after a question regarding the lack of Americans was "it's still coming out", like, they are still going through the data. McClatchy newspapers were also provided with the data, and it would make no sense for them to bury the US involvement until later. Tribune just went through first group of names today that were the easy pickens of Americans involved and it was a bunch of ponzi schemers. To add to this: In the trib today, I don't think anyone knows of a gangbuster US allegation yet. The trib was talking about the difficulty unwinding the investments, as there are those that incorporated the companies that were fairly easy to uncover, but then there are shareholders in these that has quite a bit more to weave through.

Pretty exciting stuff here. Little involved with US that I've seen except from some known hucksters, but damning information on China/Russia and today I saw France's far right party getting caught up as well. Also with a shell company as tax shelter - David Cameron's son. Just came from China, lots of open negative attitudes and media toward Xi Jinping already, and some of the absurd behavior of the kids from the nouveau riche of China. It will be interesting to see if there is global action toward ending this crap, finally.
