I thought rosenthal's latest article was topical (mentioned sox light on Desmond) but looks like it was written yesterday.

A lot came from the whitesox.com offish message boards as well. Gage will hop on eventually to reminisce.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Feb 12, 2016 -> 01:19 PM) I will never understand why a team would say they wont even try. Maybe the market for Forte was weak and he would have come back for a good deal. Its almost always better to leave the door open to something. Because Urlacher.

QUOTE (ozzfest @ Feb 12, 2016 -> 01:34 PM) You don't know how anyone can make that mistake? Sorry, Hoiberg was an assistant GM when they drafted Flynn and Rubio ahead of Curry. I still think that's enough not to want him as GM. http://espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4506863 No, I don't. If you followed NBA enough to know of the Flynn/Rubio draft, you followed enough to know the reputation that got Kahn specifically.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 12, 2016 -> 01:20 PM) Yeah, blaming losses now on injury, LMAO. They have been hurt ever since Rose's MVP year. Even with minutes restrictions. Even without Thibs. Noah used to get hurt before Thibs was ever there. What I don't get about Greenstein and anyone else who thinks Thibs being gone had to happen, how can you say that, but come up with excuses this season? They had the coach they wanted. They had the roster they wanted, and now it's worse than ever. Even their players are saying they are losing games they used to win. Taj getting hurt? Is that something new? He gets hurt every season. If you aren't going to get rid of Gar/Pax, you must get rid of Hoiberg. I guess what I said is irrelevant, but really just adding context. That 2014 team was one of the most impressive coaching jobs I've ever seen, unfortunately tarnished by a round 1 exit when their final good player went kaput.

If you have elite power, it covers up lack of obp/contact. If you have elite contact, it covers up lack of elite power (and walks). If you have elite OBP, it can have same mitigating effects. Get really good at something and be surprised how much it helps.

I am excited for new Santigold album. She dropped a single today. Have not heard.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 12, 2016 -> 12:32 PM) Anyone see Teddy Greenstein's piece in the trib? Anyone want to bet that Gar or someone close pushed this piece for the Trib to try and stop the bleeding from the media (who is all up in arms with where the Bulls are) . http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baske...212-column.html Some of Teddy's points are valid and clearly the roster with Taj out was awful, but still. Lets not forget that the 2014 team, had Noah (who was playing studly, but by this point on one knee and getting ready to have a pretty serious off-season surgery) with Hinrich and DJ Augustin getting the bulk of the minutes at the starting spot. That Wizards team was athletic and on the climb and there were some tight games in between. I'd argue the Bulls lost to the better team and I was so amazed that the 2014 team was able to get seeded where it was (given the talent it had or rather, didn't have). To me, it is more evidence that coaching can help a ton with seeding in the regular season, but in best of 7 series, coaching, while still key (due to in-game adjustments) can't out-battle talent differentials like the one between the Wizards and Bulls. Reality was, Bulls couldn't really elevate there game any more and they ultimately had zero scorers on that team at all (I suppose Boozer was the closet thing to a scorer on that squad and he clearly was on his last legs as evidenced by fact he played one more year with Lakers before dissapearing). Did Boozer retire or just decide he didn't want to be a role player (as I'd still think he could easily come off of plenty of teams benches, including, at this point, the Bulls bench). Also remember that Noah entered that series on basically one leg that led to that surgery.

Yes, it was specifically not Hoiberg. I don't know how anyone makes that mistake.

Yeah, that's crazy talk.

Olney predicts 14 year/$407 million deal for Harper
bmags replied to caulfield12's topic in The Diamond Club
It will certainly be interesting but not many players arrive at age 19 as super stars and allow you to get 5-6 years of their prime. -
Is your first sentence a question? I couldn't tell with only one punctuation mark. Always use multiple.

Bears have invested quite a bit in finding a serviceable RB. Don't we still have rodgers another year? Langford had position switches in college, I think he'll be fine blocking. The main thing I think you lose with Forte is he was remarkable at the RB position for being able to catch over the shoulder balls. Passes you wouldn't try with our other RBs Jay would throw to forte to take on a LB on a deep streak.

Got it. Thought they just take your word for it. Occupation - "celebrity anti-state rancher"

Hard to remember how dominating Howard used to be. 2009-2011 was a long time ago now.

That's odd, didn't know you needed to prove that.

honestly feels like hahn telling one reporter one scoop and another a contradictory one because its fun.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Feb 11, 2016 -> 07:58 PM) Bob Nightengale @BNightengale 1m1 minute ago The #WhiteSox have been publicly linked to free agent SS Ian Desmond, but one White Sox official said Thursday: "That ship has sailed.'' LMAO this **** is ridiculous. I'm not mad we're not getting desmond but I am mad that I paid attention.

This wasn't really the late night excitement I was expecting.

Well, either way. I have to work late tonight so this is perfect

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Feb 11, 2016 -> 05:52 PM) Wow. Well, he may not have been able to hit those if he didn't have a starting gig.

QUOTE (Tony @ Feb 11, 2016 -> 05:45 PM) Dan Hayes just confirmed. https://twitter.com/CSNHayes/status/697928034154782721 The Sox want this out there. What that means, you can make your own interpretation. Correct. Though, it is just after soxfest. They may have decided to throw Danny some bones this year. Reinsdorf does own part of CSN.

I bet Dan is just confirming that Heyman tweeted.

Do they really though? All of Hahn's recent moves we've known pretty well in advance they had interest. Samardjiza days in advance. Frazier interest for months. Lawrie was telegraphed like a glove. Latos was only "surprise" Peavy to Boston, etc etc

If we didn't use WAR would we know just how useless Avi was?
