  1. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/watchdo...0226-story.html Everyone, if a water main has been replaced in the last few years near you, please look into lead testing. Reach out to your alderman and let them know your concern. http://www.cityofchicago.org/city/en/depts...y_alderman.html
  2. If Alshon does absolutely not want to play here, I'd take the 2 first round picks for him easily.
  3. QUOTE (southside hitman @ Feb 29, 2016 -> 04:37 PM) Ah, I see our big off-season outfielder acquisition is already paying dividends. Sick lineup of Eaton Fields Abreu Fields again probably Frazier Lawrie Cabrera 90-72 easily
  4. Gary Pinkel has cancer.
  5. QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Feb 29, 2016 -> 03:13 PM) When Chris Rock did his "man on the street" thing with black people outside a movie theater in Compton, he asked them if they saw (fill in the blank "white" movie). The answer was pretty much "no" across the board. If, as a community, you largely ignore "white" films, how can you be outraged when black actors/films aren't nominated? If you, as a community, don't see the work done by white actors in "white" films, what is your frame of reference for outrage? This brings up a good point, man on the street things are always good frames of reference to understand a community.
  6. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Feb 29, 2016 -> 11:36 AM) I guess this makes sense. I have a friend that votes for every Republican on every ticket because he claims to be a "Republican". You make a good point though. I think there are differences though. Kasich and Cruz are from the same party but are very different. I'm with Republicans on smaller form of government and similar issues but I can't go with them on almost any social issue. I could vote for someone like Kasich. I couldn't vote for Cruz. That's all I meant. If you go Republican because you dislike Hillary or go with Hillary because you are afraid of Trump I understand that. But I still think that far too many people ignore what is actually being said by the candidates and go with Democrat or Republican because they feel like they are supposed to. On a local and even state level, it's usually makes a lot more sense to vote on single issues which may not lead you to a single party. But at a national level, hard to see when I would ever vote for republican party. Mark Kirk seems like a nice guy, he may vote with dems every once in a while, but he's never helping things GET to a vote, so he's useless to me.
  7. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Feb 29, 2016 -> 02:08 PM) He apologized, it's over. I really don't care about this. Often, people use verbiage like this to hide their racism, but I honestly don't believe Adam Eaton is a racist or anything like that. I just think he may not have known the context for why Chris Rock was giving the monologue he gave.
  8. Decent response, let's move along.
  9. It's not even worth discussing. It gives beltway media hard-ons, but 1) Kasich would never do it and 2) Hillary would never do it. You realize she's basically saying "if I die, I'd rather a republican be president than a dem".
  10. Deal fell thru, he traded for Sano while we were negotiating. I'm fine keeping Arenado, Machado (play him at SS), and Hernandez.
  11. You gotta put the [/color] after your text.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Feb 29, 2016 -> 07:51 AM) I find it odd they offered 2/$17 mill for Fowler (plus a draft pick) but are supposedly not interested in Jackson (likely a guy who may take a one year deal plus no draft pick). I doubt that we don't have interest. They clearly have an unrealistic number for each of these guys that they won't budge on. We clearly offered more than 2/17 for Gordon/Cespedes/upton. I'm sure they are telling Ajax they'll accept him for 1 year 4 million, and soon he'll sign with the cubs and we'll hear "we didn't have a chance, he just wanted to play for the cubs".
  13. John Oliver's Trump bit was very therapeutic. What an embarrassing weekend for American politics this weekend.
  14. QUOTE (aryzner @ Feb 29, 2016 -> 09:00 AM) They love turning a non-story into a story as long as it includes the White Sox. Rosenbloom sucks but he also basically has to write one of these a day. It's not a surprise he can only burp out 2 or 3 dumb lines, especially in slow season. edit: so I'm saying that I don't think they pick on the white sox. Bulls get it way worse right now.
  15. Yeah he was a 10th round pick so he'd be a 5th round pick this year. Basically looks like I would be looking at losing my 3rd, 4th, 5th on potentially Machado, Altuve, Hernandez
  16. Source: Desmond deal with #Rangers is for one year. -Rosenthal Copying Twitter fail
  17. Rangers sign Desmond, per Rosenthal.
  18. I thought it was because he broke something. I trust them to keep him healthy.
  19. Thanks. Appreciate it. I'm much better at football. Keep in mind, Rodon is more valuable only due to him being basically nothing (21st pick), not straight value add. Fernandez will be costly to keep as he's my 3rd year keeping him.

Maybe better defense? Austin Jackson may be equal at bat, but he doesn't actively make the rest of the team worse with poor baserunning and defense. Austin Jackson makes our pitchers better.
  21. Hey guys, question. My league is a 3 keeper league that is unusually friendly to pitchers. Our keepers accelerate by one round from the previous year. I have both Machado and Arenado, so I was hoping to trade Machado for swapping into higher rounds, and keeping J. Fernandez and maybe Rodon (he was 22nd pick last year). But instead I was offered trade of Altuve for Machado. Altuve would be my 7th round choice. On its face it seems completely fair, but it means I'm keeping two offensive players and losing 2 top ten picks. Thoughts?
  22. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 08:36 AM) Disappointing that General Soreness returned when Derrick Rose was coming back, but great efforts from Gasol, McDermott, Moore, Gibson, Dunleavy, Snell, Felicio, etc. Great win It sounds like the soreness for rose is hamstring related, I don't think he's wrong to sit if that's tight.

I dislike that so much more than a 1 year deal with a loss of a pick for Fowler. You are trading three low ceiling, but likely, major leaguers to the As in that.
  24. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 11:25 AM) We had a 90% top rate for a while in the past. It would also have zero chance of passing with a Republican controlled house anyway. While this is true, tax rates that high are more defensible when following a world war that we need to pay for, and people are pumped about winning.

    Orioles deserve this treatment.
