  1. Gagged when I saw Lakers trying to clear cap room for Hibbert. Had no idea they were terrible and in bad financial shape. Who is costing them money beside Kobe?
  2. Did they trade Batum to try to keep Aldridge?
  3. Whatever of Danks status right now, his change up was filthy yesterday
  4. Hard to complain about Dunleavy contract now
  5. Was at this game. I still have only seen two sox runs in person (both Abreu solo home runs), but this was a blast of a game. Lots of kids became life long fans at this game.
  6. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 02:27 PM) Someone will criticize him for his last name. And first name. Harvin
  7. Let's make this a cardinals haterade thread
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 02:22 PM) Buehrle and Uribe should never have departed. They've remained exceptional. Mark is worth every penny he's received since leaving. Uribe is so solid. You may want to look up Uribe's stats since his departure.
  9. Ugh, makes me want to cry. Does anyone else remember crying?: "I wouldn’t sell the farm for any player in either league. By September Martinez will be the Cards best pitcher, and barring injury in two years may be the best pitcher in the league. I believe that where he is headed anyway. Grichuk is a superstar in the making. I know all the metrics folks may not think so, but let’s just name a couple of Cards who got a lot better after age 23. Does anyone remember Lou Brock or Ozzie Smith? Is Grichuk going to be another player of that caliber? Don’t know, but it is a possibility. Reyes certainly has potential. Yeah I know potential doesn’t always produce results, but a lot of great player have been traded before a team realized what they had. Can you say Adam Wainright? Sure the Cards could use some help with starting pitching, but I don’t believe in selling the farm."
  10. pass. I'd kill myself than watch him pitch for those fans.
  11. I'd be pretty disappointed with Lin compared to even Brooks (*whom I hated). Lin got outplayed by an undrafted Free Agent last year. I'm not sure he does anything more useful than the tiny vet min PGs. Ugh, what a bucket of crap this year.
  12. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 02:07 PM) let me ask this then.... how often are 16 year old international prospects praised for their gold glove level defense? 6
  13. How many grand slams in an inning do we think Tatis will be able to hit?
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 10:38 AM) Watching a Vine on him, he has his dads swing, whether that is good or bad... who knows. Well, I know his name so he must be the best player ever!
  15. One thing that really helped the Heat was that shooting was inexpensive then, and guys taking the min instead of 2-3 million. Now they get 10 million. WIll be interesting to see who fills out their roster. I wonder who the undervalued pieces are now?
  16. Tanking while simultaneously not acquiring more draft picks is an incredible strategy.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 10:23 AM) For me it depends on if they can sign Eddy Martinez. If you can, you go for it this year with signings. If not, you stay under and load up for next year when the heavy hitters are outl. I can agree to that. I can see the advantage of cleaning up next year when half of the main competition is gone. But would have loved Guerrero against all odds.
  18. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 10:03 AM) Just scrolled through pages and pages of people complaining about the contracts being hand out. Get use to these deals guys, the good days of signing the Big 3 for $14 mil a piece are gone. If the rumored cap of $110 mil in 2 years is accurate, that's like average of $7.5 mil/ for a 15 player roster. I just hope that they raise the league and vet minimum some so those guys wouldn't be making peanuts compare to the stars. I find the cap on the stars earners much more egregious than the salary floor. Mainly because of Hinrich. Frankly, I think the cap makes it more likely for above average players to get the max to desparate teams than if the cap was hire and a true market was set. "Sure, give them the max".
  19. Out of curiosity, would people have preferred spending at the cap last 3 years and going all out next year, or going over the past 3 years and then sitting out the next 2?
  20. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 09:18 AM) If that sets the market for Martinez, you can pretty much count the Sox out. I hope not, I want something to feel joy about.
  21. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 05:58 AM) Memphis is offensively challenged and lol@the rockets. Enes Kanter went 18.7/11.0 - 25.0 PER in 26 games with the Thunder. Westbrook dropped a triple double on the league the second half of the season. They won 45 games in a loaded conference despite the 2014 mvp missing 55 games and losing an elite, rim-protecting specimen that can also score. Don't ever compare them to the Bulls who lost to LeBron and a bunch of greg775's. No, I Will compare them to the bulls because that is my whole point. We were disappointed with our championship window closing with a team 1/2 as talented. They are going to lose KD to Washington next year. If they don't win the championship next year, they will have nothing to show for having the most talented team in the league. That is a fate worse than the bulls. I also love how you can write that it was a loaded conference to boost the resume of the Thunder even as your undercutting the road to the finals for GS. And that still doesn't answer the question on whether you actually think in the last 5 years of Western Conference dominance whether their playoffs have hurt their chances in the finals. It clearly hasn't.
