  1. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 04:08 PM) Knowing our luck with position players from other teams, Donaldson hits .220/.300/.375 with us and the pitching is much worse, and we're 35-48 at this point. I think that's wrong. I don't know that the pitching would be that much worse (prior to today, Smarj was a 4.5 era pitcher, hardly production we could not replace). And, for hypotheticals sake, assume same from Donaldson.
  2. Really is nice when you have a pitcher like Danks, to have someone like Carroll who can handle the random blowups and save the pen. Him and Duke did a great job last night.
  3. A fun hypothetical i've been thinking about... trading for Donaldson instead of samardjiza. Assume all pieces from major league club gone (obviously may have taken some prospects, but this only concerns this year), remove smarj from rotation, assume noesi: What do you think our record would be? Better/Same/Worse? Do same hypothetical and you can assume healthy McCarthy (for kicks).
  4. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 03:48 PM) Nice series. Would love to end the 1st half on a really high note....kicking the s*** out of that other team. Certainly seems like we are catching each other at the right time.
  5. wait what
  6. I don't have hope either, however, that they were 7-2 with crap offense/defense/baserunning lends credence to the idea of keeping the pitching together and hoping for a flukey year of + offense.
  7. Smarj for corey seager/trout/buxton, the other teams figure out what they get, but we give nothing else.
  8. Wow, sucks I'm missing this. Great game smarj.
  9. It looked bad last night.
  10. I think they told him to see what he could get and when they saw that told him to go take it. I would love a token contract given to buerhle so he can retire a white sox at some point.

I've never been more surprised by anything than Leury's meh defense last year. Usually scouting doesn't miss on that.
  12. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 01:41 PM) Best rotations over the past 30 days (park-adjusted FIP) 1. Nationals (73) 2. Cubs (78) 3. White Sox (80) 4. Dodgers (81) 5. Pirates (84) https://twitter.com/BtBScore/status/619192870965260288 I liked Jonah Keri's article yesterday that talked about picking Chris Sale as Cy Young because he was doing what he was in front of the worst defense in the AL. Puts the above in perspective.
  13. I hope he recovers, that has to be so tough to nearly finish rehabbing one injury only to suffer from another long-term one.
  14. man, they really loved that segment.
  15. so...the bulls did not sign Aaron brooks back at the vet min. We used a portion of our MMLE, so...we can't sign anyone else better than vet min. Because aaron brooks. Can't wait for the "WELL THIS IS SMART BECAUSE THEY DRAFTED JIMMY BUTLER" comments.
  16. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 12:13 PM) Yeah, that's true, although if he can set screens and hit open 18 footers he still has a lot of value. One issue I've been thinking about is the Bulls are pretty much the anti-small ball team. Their three bigs - Noah, Gasol and Taj - are pretty terrible against a run and gun team. I remember watching the Warriors game last year thinking they'd have no shot in a 7 game series. They'd be spent after 2 games. The thing is, the bulls in the regular season tended to play a lot better against teams with faster pace. It's a copycat league, bigs are probably undervalued now, if bulls get good guard play and then win with 4 bigs, league will be like "how will the small ball teams compete!"
  17. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 12:01 PM) It's fine to change your mind when you're not bound to your decision, but it's also pretty childish and not professional to ignore and actively evade the Mavs/Cuban. Have a grown up conversation about it. Okay, I can see that part of it for sure. But the idea that a player can cancel a verbal committment prior to the ink being able to be put to paper seems like a no brainer.
  18. Call me crazy but I don't see anything wrong with what Jordan did.
  19. I will say seeing it live I was shocked that Reyes had his foot on bag in 7th. Live it seemed like he caught it way off, and he was very out.
  20. QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 11:00 AM) but did he have the long time at that position to really get comfortable??? He's a utility player, if he can't do that...then he should be DFA'd.
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 11:06 AM) The umpires wouldn't even look at it. Good. He had already challenged the previous inning.
  22. QUOTE (shysocks @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 10:30 AM) What was most annoying was that he tried to get Robin to come out and challenge it. I want people to remember that the next time they say Robin should have just "trusted his veteran" on that Alexei debacle in Detroit. Players are often wrong. Robin should have challenged that because he should be aware of what is happening in a baseball game. Doesn't mean he should have challenged this one. Surprisingly, two things can be similar (player asks to challenge) but be different (completely different scenarios and plays). On the same token, every day I wake up and go to bed, but much of the time the day is different!
  23. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 10:25 AM) He was trying to get in scoring position. Not the brightest move, but again, it was wet, it isn't like the Sox were playing for a divison title...if he was safe, just like the time Eaton came home when he should have been out a mile, people would have praised his aggressiveness. And there is always a possibility he learned something. Yes, stupid plays are often less stupid when they work. But this isn't rickey henderson, he keeps failing at this on a team that isn't good offensively. We should stop praising his aggressiveness when he just keeps eliminating himself from the basepaths and creating outs.
  24. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 10:52 AM) I think if the Bulls offered him the same contract, he still goes to Charlotte. More PT, assuming DRose can stay healthy. I'd be surprised. Bulls backup PG spot has been a prime piece, and Lin would seem to be a big draw in high asian population cities (NY, HOU, LA...charlotte.
