Yasiel Puig
QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 12:36 PM) As long as this thread is talking about trading Q for an outfielder, why not Q for Cargo? I would rather have Cargo than that head case from LA. Really? Cargo can barely play 80 games a year it seems like.

Yasiel Puig
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 12:26 PM) Dodgers badly want to move Puig to add a pitcher and give them protection for Grienke walking. Given surplus value in Q, I think the base package make sense, but If I am Rick, I want something else in addition. I'm willing to dangle Anderson if we get Seager back (upgrade of prospects). I'd also be willing to include Avisail or some bullpen pieces as well to help get another more valuable prospect in return. I do think if we got a young outfielder, Puig would be one that made a lot of sense. You'd be willing to dangle Anderson for SEager? Like...top five prospect in all of baseball seager? I mean, yeah of course you would but we couldn't even get Seager for Q straight up.

not sure why we'd need to give up Avi even if it doesn't make sense to keep him.

Frankie Montas to join Sox for Double Header Friday
He has an elite tool that doesn't exist in this system, not surprised people were excited. Granted, thinking the sox could turn someone who couldn't hit into a hitter when we turn players who can hit into crap is somewhat amusing.

Not sure Rondon can have the bust label applied. Don't remember much expectations there.

Chris Sale is the most bestest pitcher evar!
Still don't buy it, something is up. "Likely start sunday"...uh, and what if he doesn't? WHat would be the reason for 9-10 days between starts if he "feels great"?

7/17 vs KC Royals Doubleheader
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 09:57 AM) Do you have neck pain from watching the balls go flying out of the park? Ha, i've been there for good and bad. Saw his gem against the Os, then a few days later his crap game v. toronto (which we won and most runs i've seen all season.

NCAA basketball 2015-16 thread
Basically every thing that happened last summer that made me think Kim Anderson could succeed has failed spectacularly under his guidance. I'm being too hard a bit, he took over a team at a weird spot, with pressure to keep adding players that didn't match his style. But it's also his fault he still could not attract a big man for his offense.

I swear every game I go to Danks is pitching.

How general manager A.J. Preller destroyed the San Diego Padres in a m
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 16, 2015 -> 04:21 PM) "He equated name recognition with talent and paid the price. " yep, I think Preller set the world record for hero-worship. And a tale of the perils of hero worship. A lot of posters hereon were pining for Upton and Kemp. To be fair, the popular trade for Kemp involved Danks

Team strengths and weaknesses
It seems to me that a pivot needs to happen in philosophy where player defense needs to take a higher priority than offense. Our entire organization appears to have recognize we have a strength in pitching scouting and development, and atrocious position player development in every aspect. We put many resources in groundball pitchers with a bad defensive infield. We have claimed to put a lot of emphasis to find power in a power-lean league. We did not find it. Our offense cannot get much worse, rather than try and find offense, I say lets go for maximizing this pitching.

Changes in the booth possible?
My wife, who finds baseball to me the single most boring sport in the world, doesn't mind listening to Farmer and DJ because once an inning they make us crack up. So all of your opinions are invalid.

Looking for a new Kitchen Stove/Range
I really like the dishwasher style that hangs the utensil drawers in the front of the lower and upper drawers. Solves the problem of everyone loading all the utensils in the front pocket.

2015 Cubs Catch-All thread
I remember when I was laughing at the cubs for Schwarber and then he ended up in the big leagues as a top 20 prospect around the same time as Rodon.

Changes in the booth possible?
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 16, 2015 -> 12:59 PM) Let's at least hire a guy away from a dream job at MLB Network to come work for one of the least popular franchises in baseball? Realistic suggestion. More please. I'm sure the MLB network ratings are killing it.

Changes in the booth possible?
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 16, 2015 -> 12:56 PM) So let's try it this way. The White Sox are well known to favor guys who have come through their franchise for various positions. Any ideas on who might be a good candidate to take any of those roles out of people who have been in the Sox organization at some point? I would like to know how Willie Harris does on TV.

I change my mind. Only Farmer for both radio and tv, also in stadium announcements.

How general manager A.J. Preller destroyed the San Diego Padres in a m
QUOTE (Buehrlesque @ Jul 16, 2015 -> 09:42 AM) I kind of meant "historically speaking" more than just this year — trading good prospects for Swisher to play out of position in CF and then underperform, trading good prospects for Edwin Jackson (big contract relative to his stats in Arizona), giving up draft picks for older FAs who disappoint, bringing in an expensive closer when they're an organization known for developing cheaper, effective alternatives (Robertson vs. the Jenks/Santos/Reed/Jones template), etc. None of those things worked out well, but none of them were out-and-out disasters like what happened to the Padres. Imagine all of those happening in a single season, though! Worst of all, trading Trea Turner, only to not have a pick until the 3rd round, so basically they've emptied the top of their farm and did not replenish with top talent for 2 straight years.

How general manager A.J. Preller destroyed the San Diego Padres in a m
QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 15, 2015 -> 04:52 PM) http://grantland.com/features/aj-preller-m...al-league-west/ Ouch... I'm not a Padres fan and that was a tough article to read. I know our moves haven't worked out either but at least we don't have some of those contracts and didn't give up anyone of great talent like San Diego has. Brutal. Just read this too. I thought our scenarios was the same, but I have no idea how hopeless I would be if we traded away a top 6 farm system and finished in last. What a tough spot.
