  1. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 12:20 AM) I hate this but I am jealous of the Cubs right now and all their hitting prospects. they are starting to do thing right over there while we still suck Was thinking the same last night. I remember laughing at the "they can just trade hitting for pitching"...oh man, i'd give up whatever for a young hitter who doesn't suck the life out of me as I watch them play.
  2. Well, at least lowry did well.
  3. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 6, 2011 -> 04:00 PM) well, we certainly know the rangers are going to kick our ass now. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 6, 2011 -> 04:05 PM) I'm so pissed right now. What a farce this is. What a slap in the face to those who spent money on that atrocious year last year.
  4. I mean, did Savard really DESERVE to be fired. Not talking about Ventura level incompetence there.
  5. I'm sure for most people in the country they see they are playing the white sox and say "oh yeah, forgot they exist"
  6. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 09:08 AM) Brian Campbell, Cristobal Huet, and the RFA offer sheet blunder. Exactly, he showed nothing that he would be able to manage the cap. He absolutely deserves credit for his drafting, but the Hawks firing him to replace with Bowman was the single-most competent thing any chicago sports franchise has ever done.
  7. QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 09:07 AM) I swear this Sox team just repeated the same roller coaster of anger that the Bears just put me through. In both cases I realize I should have been able to see that the talent and coach werent really as good as I initially thought. Agreed. There just aren't shortcuts in sports anymore, everyone is too smart. OTOH, it is truly remarkable that both times sox have made a signing that seemed so obvious and should work out, they went on to become the worst players in the MLB. That's amazing.
  8. I was nervous and excited this year because it from the major league club on down this was the first year where we could see whether Hahn's new tenure, and our "re-focus" on drafting and scouting was paying off. Well our farm is having a truly brutal year, our major league club a worse one, and every franchise in our division is getting better. This is the time for a Bears level re-gutting, and it is so frustrating that we are going to continue to trim around the margins.
  9. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 08:08 AM) This is an awesome idea. We just need to get everyone that may potentially kill someone with a gun at some point in the future to register for a list so we make sure nobody ever sells them a gun. Or maybe we should just leave it up to the gun sellers to ask the question "Are you going to kill someone with this gun if I sell it to you?" Why hasn't anyone thought of this before?    Yeah, or maybe we could be allowed to track and study gun sales to look into if there are any patterns for gun purchases coming from particular stores. But no, this is such an important issue that we are not allowed to even study it, and the very serious people like you can just sit on the sidelines saying "welp, nothing we can do, criminals gon criminal."
  10. Dark times. So hard reading about baseballs offensive renessaince knowing this team is stuck in Stone Age.
  11. QUOTE (Boogua @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 05:29 PM) When they played Bogut they were having problems dictating pace and pushing the ball. They were down 2-1 when they were starting Bogut. I think he'd have some issues guarding Shaq, and I'm not exactly sure what multiple bodies would do against him. It wouldn't be the first time he saw a double team and guys like Draymond Green wouldn't effect him. Then again, I'm probably just a nostalgia whore. Uh, yeah, Bogut was not helping this series but he was a tremendous defensive asset the majority of the time. What happens when Draymond Green is draining 3s from the corner and forcing Rodman to defend the 3 pt and takes him away from rebounding? Multiple bodies is the depth of the warriors and their ability to hack the hell out of shaq and put him on the line. Shaq's defense would be nowhere near as dominant when it isn't being used against a team whose only offense is a 5/11 guard running right into him. Interestingly, that team went up against a team with a dominant front court and dispatched them in 5 games. It's fun to look at 3 games where they struggled, where the greatest player in the game basically slowed it down to a crawl and went ISO and assume think that's the epitome of the Warriors team and how they will look vs everyone, but they adjusted and then won in 6 games.
  12. They are normal people then they just snap I guess. Wellp, nothing can be done. Moving on.
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 09:46 AM) The other funny thing about Maddon is the Rays were well below .500 last year. This year they have been devastated by injury as much as any team, and lost him, yet there they are, in first place. If all you are proving is that managers don't matter that much, than why does it matter that he stays? What do you have invested in Robin Ventura's career?
  14. I too am not a fan of the GM that has retooled this team numerous times in the modern cap era to help achieve 3 stanley cup victories.
  15. and by big check I mean the biggest check I can get.
  16. If I'm honest with myself, and I'm Richards, and I'm facing 2-3 more years of being paid as a millionaire before likely not getting more income again, I may go for a final big check.
  17. Eh, you guys are nostalgia whores. The warriors lived on 3 point shooting and getting corner looks, that's the best shot in the game. They would have thrown more bogut and multiple bodies at shaq and done fine. They would have funneled Kobe into jump shots. This was a very good team.
  18. bulls went to 6 games against some pretty sorry teams. I think people don't believe that the cavs were as good defensively as they were, but they were excellent on defense in the playoffs. I think this team would have had a tough time vs. last years spurs who were so hot in the playoffs, but would have whipped any 05-11 team.
  19. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 02:57 PM) Has a manager ever had as big of a leash as f***ing Robin Ventura? Man in San Diego who just was removed. Gonna guess sox down 7-0 in first inning, offense will continue to rival the Phillies for its putridness. We thought we were hanging around .500 until we put it together, it was actually hanging around until the inevitable collapse. One of the worst teams I've ever had the privilege of watching (not worst in record, but certainly worst to watch). 07 when Jerry Owens came up was more fun. I'll never be fooled by shortcuts in offseasons again.
  20. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 10:26 PM) I misfired on the Cavs pick, but some of you had to be thinking I was spot on when the Cavs took the lead and were in the ballgame at the half. Those who took GS in six were genuises.
  21. Haven't seen a lick of this. Hope it replays.
