  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 25, 2015 -> 02:00 PM) Cartwright, Skiles, Del Negro...these are the types these clowns hired until they lucked into Thibs, and now just try to piss him off whenever they can. When Thibs is traded or mutually departs after this season, he will get hired in about 5 seconds. The Bulls will hire someone they will be pissed off at in a year or two because they won't be able to win when Pau is 2 years older, and Noah and DRose are constantly injured. Thibs will absolutely coach again. And Skiles wasn't a bad coach, he's basically Doug Collins lite.
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 25, 2015 -> 01:54 PM) And that's fair why? If anyone really thinks the Bulls will win more games or advance farther in the playoffs with the same players but without Thibs, they are going to be sorry for what they wished for when, and I agree with this part, he does depart. JR still wonders why LaRussa was allowed to leave. Thibs is better than LaRussa. He will rue the day he lets Gar/Pax send Thibs packing. I have to say, I love Thibs, but I don't think he's a transition coach. The bulls are about to head into a weird couple of years.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 25, 2015 -> 01:48 PM) I think what we have seen from Thibs is that he won't put a guy into a situation where he isn't ready for it. We saw it from Taj Gibson when he was drafted. We saw it from Butler when he first got here, and the same with Snell. Instead of playing them simply because of draft entitlement, he got them to the point where they were ready to play, and when it was time, they stepped in. I think the philosophy of "they have to play because they were drafted #x" is why we see so many kids who never make it in the NBA, despite their draft position. If they aren't ready, they aren't ready. Give them the tools to be ready, and then play them. The reason I believe in Thibs player development (and some of this was probably Adams too, he may developed players faster) is that when they finally show under Thibs, it really hasn't been a fluke. I believe in Snell now. I don't htink he's 20ppg, but the idea that he could be an NBA 3 and D guy was laughable. NOw he plays like a longer clone of Dunleavy. He makes fast decisions with the ball. It's awesome.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 25, 2015 -> 01:42 PM) So much of this has become basically a meme. These guys play as much as they demonstrate they should be playing. Watching Douggie play this year, I can't see how anyone could realistically argue he should be playing more for a team that is fighting for a high playoff spot, or was until last night. Mirtotic is still developing an offensive game, but is a terrible on-ball defender at this point. There are so many situations he still hurts you in as well. Thibs finds spots for him when he can, but he isn't ready to be a 30-40 minute a night guy, especially when you have Taj, Jo, Gasol all in front of him in some form. Who wouldn't play a rookie shooting 12% from 3pt land playing bad defense when they are the 3rd string SF?
  5. Let's also ignore the 4-5 scrap heap PGs Thibs has spun off, that have gone on to get paid by other teams.
  6. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Feb 25, 2015 -> 01:27 PM) I'm waiting for your response. When you make a stupid response, you need to back it up, not us. Here, this took 4 minutes: http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/b/butleji01.html Strange...Deng didn't get traded until 2014, yet Butler averaged 28 mpg in 2012-2013? Hmm, http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/g/gibsota01.html Why is Taj playing 22 MPG with veteran Boozer ahead of him?
  7. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Feb 25, 2015 -> 01:22 PM) Got four upper deck behind firstbase, pretty high up for opening day. When I went in there were 65 tickets available for opening day. Yeah, I realized quick how limited they were. Grabbed row 13 behind home plate. Edit: row 13 in the upper deck, not that rich.
  8. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Feb 25, 2015 -> 01:05 PM) When is the last time that a young player emerged on this team that wasn't caused by an injury? Really?
  9. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 25, 2015 -> 11:21 AM) By the way...I do think Rose comes back this year and this injury doesn't end his career. I do think this injury means the Bulls officially pass the torch to Butler to be their star, which is good. It should take a lot of pressure off Rose and in the off-season we can add a PG and give Rose more minutes at the 2 spot. The crap thing with this injury is just, you have 20 million tied to a player that there is now no doubt you cannot rely on to play. The other crap thing is kirk hinrich. He may come back, but either way, the great play we are getting from low market value short pgs is great, until they are your only PG. Luckily, this league has a lot of great PGs now.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 25, 2015 -> 11:22 AM) Do it. Do it now. This fund should be the cornerstone of your 401k retirement account. It has a 2% turnover, and a 0.12% expense ratio. The others we talked about were WAY higher. Thanks again for all your help SS.
  11. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 25, 2015 -> 11:16 AM) I do think a lot of this has to do with rose and others getting more shots and bad spacing with MJD being gone. Butler is also playing with a messed up finger. Watch Butler elevate his game. This off-season, Bulls need to find a way to get a true point guard (which probably shouldn't be that difficult). I just find this hard to believe because in December when Rose was playing his best, so was Jimmy. I find it more likely that MJD affected this, as a lot of the success jimmy had early was getting the 2 guard match-up and overpowering them. Then he was exclusively a 3 in january save for some niko moments.
  12. I read an article about how Trayce was at his brothers 37 point quarter. I don't know if that will affect his chances.
  13. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 25, 2015 -> 10:52 AM) I think a lot of that was bowing to Rose as Rose bricked shot after shot. No, it hasn't, his postgame turn-around fadeaway jumpers have predictably disappeared.
  14. QUOTE (chw42 @ Feb 25, 2015 -> 10:56 AM) I don't think you want MCW. I'd rather have Aaron Brooks. I don't understand why that's a rather statement. I'd like to have a PG with length for defensive purposes. You saw how wall/beal destroyed DJ with ease when the games mattered. Our length is now 100% kirk hinrich. So it's "i'd rather have MCW playing 12 minutes than kirk play 35"
  15. http://www.blackrock.com/investing/product...nstl-class-fund This was just added in our account for 401k. I'm thinking about moving this over.
  16. QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Feb 25, 2015 -> 10:43 AM) Yeah, I screwed up. I was posting the info off an earlier thread. And I mixed my dates up. But the codes work Just got my tix. Luckily the rep we had mentioned that our account number should be the code, and I got in. Not bad price, but not great. 55 each for upper deck reserved right behind home plate. Still, this is my first opening day ever. Very excited.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 25, 2015 -> 10:28 AM) Not even counting on the injured guys at all, bringing in Robertson, Duke, and Jennings alone makes this bullpen a hell of a lot deeper. They probably all just tore their ACLs at once. I don't know what you are doing right now.
  18. Butler looked like a star, but he's been pretty average recently. It really does suck. We could have probably gotten Dragic or at the very LEAST MCW, whom I think I would have liked for his d. Instead...we're rolling with a 5'10 PG who is a much worse distributor than DJ was. I miss DJ.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 25, 2015 -> 10:07 AM) And more importantly, jobs in the Sox bullpen are now a lot harder to come by than they were last year. Let's let spring training happen before we claim this.
  20. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Feb 25, 2015 -> 09:15 AM) They aren't going to rebuild though. They almost have to double down on Rose. He's owed $20 million each of the next two years. They are stuck there. Gasol and Butler will be around. I would look to deal Noah and Taj and see if I can get more scoring to compliment Rose/Butler/Gasol. They can't pay Noah again so they might as well use him as a potential asset. They may double down on their wings, but the frontcourt may be not the building block it once was.
  21. Today is wed. 2/25. I'm waiting for our code to come out from the sox. edit: this is in response to ewokpelts yelp article referencing 2/25 as a Tuesday.
  22. QUOTE (shysocks @ Feb 25, 2015 -> 08:42 AM) His first injury was easily the most devastating because he was in peak form that season (when he played) and the team was probably better than the ECF team from the prior year. The two injuries since then have had a sort of nail-in-the-coffin feeling for fans. The first one, that was a guillotine. I don't know, after the first one it felt like he would come back, these are the "no, no he's not coming back". And rebuilding sucks, I have no desire to watch bad basketball.
  23. Maybe Rose should get a different doctor.
  24. QUOTE (Knuckles @ Feb 24, 2015 -> 10:15 PM) Nate's gotta be on his way to Chicago. Sigh, no. This means more Kirk
  25. That's interesting re:Thibs. Probably right. But I don't see them throwing in the towel. God this team was so close. This sucks. Man I wish Teague worked out.
