Single game tickets?
QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Feb 25, 2015 -> 10:43 AM) Yeah, I screwed up. I was posting the info off an earlier thread. And I mixed my dates up. But the codes work Just got my tix. Luckily the rep we had mentioned that our account number should be the code, and I got in. Not bad price, but not great. 55 each for upper deck reserved right behind home plate. Still, this is my first opening day ever. Very excited.

Nate Jones throwing long toss
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 25, 2015 -> 10:28 AM) Not even counting on the injured guys at all, bringing in Robertson, Duke, and Jennings alone makes this bullpen a hell of a lot deeper. They probably all just tore their ACLs at once. I don't know what you are doing right now.

Derrick Rose to have surgery on Torn Right Meniscus
Butler looked like a star, but he's been pretty average recently. It really does suck. We could have probably gotten Dragic or at the very LEAST MCW, whom I think I would have liked for his d. Instead...we're rolling with a 5'10 PG who is a much worse distributor than DJ was. I miss DJ.

Nate Jones throwing long toss
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 25, 2015 -> 10:07 AM) And more importantly, jobs in the Sox bullpen are now a lot harder to come by than they were last year. Let's let spring training happen before we claim this.

Derrick Rose to have surgery on Torn Right Meniscus
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Feb 25, 2015 -> 09:15 AM) They aren't going to rebuild though. They almost have to double down on Rose. He's owed $20 million each of the next two years. They are stuck there. Gasol and Butler will be around. I would look to deal Noah and Taj and see if I can get more scoring to compliment Rose/Butler/Gasol. They can't pay Noah again so they might as well use him as a potential asset. They may double down on their wings, but the frontcourt may be not the building block it once was.

Derrick Rose to have surgery on Torn Right Meniscus
QUOTE (shysocks @ Feb 25, 2015 -> 08:42 AM) His first injury was easily the most devastating because he was in peak form that season (when he played) and the team was probably better than the ECF team from the prior year. The two injuries since then have had a sort of nail-in-the-coffin feeling for fans. The first one, that was a guillotine. I don't know, after the first one it felt like he would come back, these are the "no, no he's not coming back". And rebuilding sucks, I have no desire to watch bad basketball.

Maybe Rose should get a different doctor.

Derrick Rose to have surgery on Torn Right Meniscus
That's interesting re:Thibs. Probably right. But I don't see them throwing in the towel. God this team was so close. This sucks. Man I wish Teague worked out.

Derrick Rose to have surgery on Torn Right Meniscus
QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 24, 2015 -> 10:06 PM) Lots of similarities between him and Prior. It's different. So many fewer players in bball. A player of that caliber is the franchise.

Derrick Rose to have surgery on Torn Right Meniscus
Man I am really sad about this.

Derrick Rose to have surgery on Torn Right Meniscus
The trajectory of this franchise just nose dove. Can't believe this. In denial now, realizing I'll have to go through another playoffs of "but if for Rose". There is no superstar on chicago, or one in sight.

I don't understand what just happened. And God damn it the trade deadline just passed with f***ing 10 PGs traded

Robin Ventura - Pretty Decent at Stopping In-Season Fatigue
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 24, 2015 -> 05:03 PM) Alexei Ramirez might disagree with that assessment. This year's the first real test of that since 2012, when the team obviously wore down during the stretch run. Guys like Eaton, Abreu, Conor...and most of the pitching staff, as a close to .500 team became a pretty bad/below average one. The other problem here is separating for factors like Herm Schneider, or the fact that the bench has been very weak...thus not providing many legit options when resting regulars (see Leury Garcia). And "pretty decent" doesn't exactly fill one with confidence, lol. But the thing is you are assuming Alexei Ramirez, managed by some other fantastic manager, would have completely prevented a second half collapse entirely, which this is saying that's pretty unlikely. He was going to wear down regardless, so it's a matter of degrees.

Chicago Elections 2015
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 24, 2015 -> 04:48 PM) I was 32 (Waguespack) when I was still living in Bucktown, and I actually liked the job he was doing. Suburbs now for me though. Waguespack has been championing two of my favorite projects in the ward. One is the 606 (Bloomingdale) trail, which is underway. The other is the redirection and rebuild of the awful Fullerton/Damen/Elston intersection, which has some funding now and some of the property owners have already moved (i.e. Whirlyball) to make room. And fellow Midtown clubbers are getting a pool out of it.

Chicago Elections 2015
This thread is to shame those in Chicago who did not vote in their local Alderman and Mayor elections, which will likely affect you way more than national policy. What's yr ward, who you completing the arrow for?

Robin Ventura - Pretty Decent at Stopping In-Season Fatigue
So says a new way to try and measure that: http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article....articleid=25647 Goes on to talk for 5 hours about what they are measuring, then we find that over 3 seasons Ventura is better than average. Last season alone, near the top of the list. Signed, Robin Ventura

2014-2015 NBA thread
There was a portion of the 3rd Q last night where the offense was being run completely away from Rose, and Noah running point forward. It worked okay. Obviously last night was not a barn burner.

Gillaspie has "bulked up", quit chewing
There has been a real dwindling number of "best shape of their lives" stories. I don't know why, since I always read them.

Dang, in the pool for who would show up in best shape of his life I would have taken Avisail over Connor.

Sox Could Break Camp with 8 Relievers
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Feb 23, 2015 -> 09:14 PM) Hopefully 10+ pitch well, then we can move some in July for other needs. Exactly, but after last year I'm gunshot to say depth exists prior to spring training.
