  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 22, 2015 -> 10:44 AM) But what if they did that and they lost and Sale was never the same again? Getting to the playoffs is a challenge. Winning the WS a bigger one for sure, but you have to get there to have a chance. Bumgarner threw 52 postseason innings last year. It paid off. But what if the Giants didn't win? I would bet there would be people saying Bochy throwing him out there so much was dumb. He is going to get his days off during the season. How many times has he pitched since becoming a starter on less than 4 days rest? The answer is less than one. Anyway, if the White Sox make the playoffs, it probably means Samardzija was really good and Rodon was good. I doubt they would have as many 2 and 3 inning performances in the postseason from their starters as the 2014 Giants. I doubt Bochy would face criticism for that. He'd face more criticism if he tried to save his pitcher for years later with a World Series on the line. Those don't come often, when it's there you throw all you've got.
  2. QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Feb 20, 2015 -> 02:28 PM) You didn't miss much. The OD tix were priced higher than if you got a 7 game plan. The 7 game Plan had Od tix for $25. The 2 game plan? $35. Hell, a 7 game plan in the cheapies is as low as $55. The 2 game plan upstairs was $40. I have a feeling still better than the "1 game plan" I'm going to try for.
  3. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 20, 2015 -> 05:19 PM) Pre-injury 2013 Crain on this team is very scary. I do like that there is genuine competition for the pen this year. I thought there would be competition last year, who knew how badly all of the vet flyers would fall off the face of the earth in Spring Training.
  4. I like Thibs a lot, I don't see a reason to change. BUt had they fired him for kerr or hoiberg I would be alright. BUt overall I think it's all overblown and everything is just hottakes. I'm disappointed that this team is only on pace for 50 wins.
  5. I think Kim Anderson may have hit a deathblow to missouri basketball.
  6. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 20, 2015 -> 09:16 AM) Rumors floating that Bosh has a blood clot in his lung and they will announce today that he is done for the season. Scary stuff That's terrible news. Hopefully everything goes smooth and he comes back completely normal like Green.
  7. QUOTE (Knuckles @ Feb 16, 2015 -> 10:11 AM) For a very limited time (GOING ON RIGHT NOW) you can secure your Opening Day tickets but committing to just one more game this year. The promotion is going on as we speak started at 10AM and it's called the Double Play. Only on whitesox.com I wish I'd seen this. I missed out on the OD tix to my brothers, going to try to get the 2/25 season ticket holder presale.
  8. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Feb 19, 2015 -> 08:45 PM) Yeah, some have been there for weeks already. Kind of takes the fun out of "pitchers and catchers report" day. Not really, because that's when the media arrives.
  9. I just have a hard time believing that report. It is so specific with so many variables. Nobody would play their hand like that.
  10. I was intrigued by gary neal but I've also enjoyed my Etwaun Moore minutes.
  11. When I see how devoid of talent this team is I start to wonder how I thought they'd be a playoff team last year.
  12. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 18, 2015 -> 04:08 PM) Jose Abreu being a top 10 hitter in the major leagues would make him better than 99.9% percent of hitters in the majors. I'd agree with Reddy and say that it's a very optimistic prediction. It's not an unrealistic prediction by any means necessary, but expecting him to merely be a top 50 hitter isn't unrealistic either, but it's quite a bit more pessimistic. EDIT: OK, my math was off. He'd be better than 97% of regulars if we assumed that there would be exactly 9 hitters for all 30 teams in the majors. There will be more hitters than that, and 99.9% isn't actually as far off as you'd think, but it's not exactly correct either. I'm glad you corrected this because it bothered me.
  13. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 19, 2015 -> 04:03 PM) Can't wait for the Heat to beat the Bulls in the first round. It was a great trade for them, and a reminder that how the hell does norris cole have any value.
  14. If anyone questions the purpose and entertainment of twitter, that scrolling down of 1000 Woj tweets within 10 minutes of each other was awesome. I still am not sure I understand where anyone is. I also don't get Philly trading MCW after getting rid of whosehisface at the draft
  15. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Feb 18, 2015 -> 05:24 PM) That would put him at 50% shooting for that year. That is a bold statement that really couldn't be backed up, and with Rose's style of play, I highly doubt he will ever shoot 50% from the field, injured or not. For the Thunder, Roberson couldn't shoot for his life and Perry Jones who started with Durant out was also a bad shooter. As a team, They are shooting 32.5% from 3's this year. They definitely aren't the Warriors, Hawks or Spurs. On the other hand Bulls in 2011 shot 36% from 3's, and Thunder shot exactly same percentage last year. It's fine to include that percentage, but the thunder attempt 5 more 3s per game. Ibaka himself takes more threes per game than any bull that year beside deng, except he hits at a higher rate. There is no question whose teammates give them more space to work with. But yeah, I'm sure having one of the best shooters in the league next to you would have no effect.
  16. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Feb 18, 2015 -> 04:59 PM) Efficiency will go down but raw number will certainly go up. He was something like 30-6-8 with 3 steals without Durant. Plus, if he he had to do it for a prolonged period of time, it's not hard to imagine he would make adjustments. Either way, I don't think it's fair to say Player B couldn't be better than Player A because Player B isn't the best player on his team. By that logic, 2011 Rose is better than Kobe from '98-04 and Pippen in all those years when he played with Jordan. Playing with another superstar certainly factors in the argument, but I don't think it invalidates the argument. The main issue I have is that the Bulls spacing was horrendous. You had a player who was dominant at driving in congested spaces being forced to do that the whole game, and he did. Deng was decent from 3, and Korver was great but mostly 2nd unit then. You had a bunch of players who all required being close to the hoop. Give him the Dunleavy Bulls and 2010-2011 would have at least 5% better FG shooting.
  17. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Feb 18, 2015 -> 02:04 PM) I wanted KMart at the beginning of the season, but imagining KMart and Brooks's defense coming off the bench made me puke a little. yeah hilariously he's a bad fit now. I wouldn't mind kicking the tires on reggie jackson, reportedly available.
  18. I was at the Boston game when he burned through 5-6 relief pitchers in 1 and 1/3rd innings. I remember being really mad, but looking back, if just one of them had actually gotten outs it was fine. He kept pulling pitcher after pitcher who came in with no stuff and were wild. Then one got an out and so he left them in, and they were shelled. I do think he deserves a year with a good bullpen before we indict him. His lineups, I understand his thought process and it's probably his experience as a player leading him there, but I still think he's not using players in their best spots.
  19. Good to know. With that, I will be fine with a 5-11 season next year. Happy with a 7-9 season or above. They need so much more talent to make that D work.

    The Fashion Thread

I don't know what I agree with here. I worry that some may read this and assume you need to go highest quality first. First you should experiment with matching colors and patterns well. Learn this and you can make 1-2 suits feel like 5 by bringing in different components. If you are going to wear suits all the time, you will end up paying more to get better fabric. The cheaper items may look comparable but they don't breathe or feel great. Shoes on the other hand, I don't see a point going for a big brand. Go to Nordstrom rack and find a pair that you like a lot and buy it. Nobody will be able to pinpoint a $400 shoe to a $80 shoe, it's not until you get to really nice leathers that you can tell. But yes, have at least one suit tailored and nice. I have a custom suit I bought before my wedding. I love it and hate when I have to wear the others.
  21. I think I've actually been one of the bigger Westbrook supporters on this site, but there's something that just compels me to be like "No You're Wrong" when you are trying to claim "See! I was right!" after a guy has been out for 2 full years of basketball while the other has been mostly healthy.
  22. Also don't plan on making money. Buy a place whose PITI is reasonable to renting. You can only guarantee that your return is living in a place, not that it will get you money back.
  23. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Feb 17, 2015 -> 12:35 PM) I've started looking again at condos (just online, not with a realtor) as my lease ends in May (but is month to month after, owner is selling the whole building and will give us a 3 month heads up on when he needs us out no matter what). My current roommate is most likely buying a place and moving in with his girlfriend so that kinda leaves me on my own. Has anyone bought/sold a 1bdr condo, is it really hard to find a buyer for those places? I've been told that they are had to unload. Also, any suggestions for mortgage providers? I bank with Chase so they are always an option, but if anyone has good suggestions or places to avoid that would be great to know. The market for 1bdr condos sucks. I won't tell you not to buy condos in the city, but I would say if you are going to buy one, make sure it's in a dense area. Don't buy a condo in like norwood park or oak park. I had 2 friends buy in 2012 with 2bd condos, and now have made 40k in equity. I had others that bought in 2009 and will be underwater for 10 years. I would just tell you to make sure you get a place you can rent out, that is in a neighborhood that is not already priced out, and do NOT buy that with less than 20% down.
