  1. This is what I thought would happen. Brutal.
  2. QUOTE (ptatc @ Nov 21, 2014 -> 09:23 PM) IMHO This is one of the most important aspects of the minor leagues and "learning to be a professional ballplayer." People to often complain about rushing good players. Most often it helps them in the long run. Beckham should have spent more time in the minors. I really think it would have helped him learn to adjust out of the MLB spotlight. I frankly just disagree that this is a universal rule. Look at Tennis, some are Pete Sampras, who move ahead early and get killed for a few years before dominating. Others do much better always dominating until full maturity and then moving pro. For some, confidence can be really precarious at ages 17-20 where they had been ahead for so many years. When they fail before they are pro, it can really destroy some personalities who may have done better on a different track.
  3. Gonna see a lot of Noah run the offense. Moore can do it if we plug noah at the key.
  4. Got offered tickets to Sundays bears game and declined. No thanks.
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 20, 2014 -> 12:50 PM) http://www.providencejournal.com/sports/re...-trend-last.ece “The TV deals are the single most important variable in how aggressive a team can be,” said Cubs president Theo Epstein, whose organization has positioned itself (not sure how the author thinks they've done anything but being forced to wait for the Comcast deal to run its course) to negotiate a new TV deal after 2019. “You can chart a team’s spending in certain offseasons based on the timing of their TV deal and how it big it was. It’s something fans are starting to become more aware of and track, but it’s really a driving force in the industry dynamic that goes unseen.” (A month ago, Epstein told season-ticket holders that the next TV contract will be “the magic bullet, the paradigm-shifter.”)
  6. I think we do need a roider piece of s***.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 21, 2014 -> 04:06 PM) I'll just basically say that I'd prefer they avoid trading Quintana under any circumstances, but will reserve judgment on that. Agreed.
  8. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 21, 2014 -> 05:15 PM) The officiating was extremely one sided in this game. Made it very hard for the Bulls to stay in the game / take the lead. I don't complain about officiating a lot but it was really bad last night and not bad as in bad for both teams, but very bad for the Bulls. McDermott continues his streak of awfulness. Niko looks like he has star potential. Again, not saying he'll reach it, but his scoring skill-set appears to have a ton of upside and defensively I expect him to grow and be a pretty solid defender and a very good rebounder. When you walk into a game thin, and then immediately get put into foul trouble, good luck. I went to bed at halftime knowing it was over. One thing to put Bulls in foul trouble like that, but to not get any fouls for the bulls when we are playing the Kings, just ridiculous.
  9. Ugh. Screw this game. Refs put everyone in foul trouble, Bairstow in.
  10. 4 fouls in second quarter. Come on Niko. Some were weak no doubt.
  11. Damn, Mirotic is never gonna get more than 15 minutes until he can stop fouling. He has 3 in like 4 minutes.
  12. I still can't believe how much this Bulls offense looks like an offense.
  13. The caller was actually very accommodating too. I thought it was one of our stat geeks.
  14. Again, fine with calling them idiots, fine with huge judge judy lectures, fine with it even factoring into appropriate sentencing, but calling it contempt of court is ridiculous.
  15. For the record, they examined how many contempt orders were used by a judge. She had far and away the most. It's almost like others have found a way to hold the room without judging people for silly offenses. It's amazing the idea that any punishment is justified if anyone finds themselves in a wrong. No matter what that wrong is, you can be killed by a cop or jailed by a judge. If you don't want to die or get jailed, just pull your pants up, and don't walk down the street with your hands in your pockets. It's easy.
  16. There was an excruciating debate where an on air personality was claiming all of baseballs woes were due to advanced analytics (strikeouts), and a caller said "well a part of it is that the average speed of a pitch ahs gone up 4 mph" and he was like "ARE YOU TELLING ME THAT A PROFESSIONAL HITTER IS GONNA HAVE TROUBLE HITTING A 94 MPH FASTBALL DOWN THE MIDDLE MORE THAN A 90MPH FASTBALL? YOU ARE AN IDIOT THEY ARE PROFESSIONALS" Yea that was like the last time I went there.
  17. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 20, 2014 -> 08:02 PM) It's extreme, but judges do extreme s*** all the time. Lawyers have been held in contempt for simply looking at their phone in court. BTW, she's not the only one: http://newsone.com/2002005/alabama-judge-j...or-saggy-pants/ I'm still fine with it. You should see how people dress in court. It's hilarious. They might as well be going to work on the corner. They're so dumb they don't realize that sort of image hurts their chance of being successful in court. Other judges doing extreme s*** doesn't mean it isn't wrong. And I mean, any time you bring an example to me of an alabama judges decisions and say "see" I'm just going to disregard it.
  18. We are talking about low level crimes such as tickets. And you are throwing them in jail for two days, sight unseen. IF you want to go off on a self-righteous lecture, fine. BUt this is stupid. And nobody should agree with it. It's very dumb. You are jailing people for wearing their pants too low. Any judge that does it should definitely not be re-elected, except how the hell are people supposed to know this happens.
  19. Not good most of the time, but when mlb draft happened they were only station discussing. Liked it then. But I mean, 87.7, most people don't even know that's on the dial.
  20. KC JOhnson tweeted likely Rose is out until next weeks games. Boogie vs. Noah tonight. Gay vs. Jimmy. Should be fun stuff.
  21. Did anyone see the WGN news story about a southside judge who has thrown 20+ people in jail for contempt of court because she said their pants were too low? This guy walks in for literally a jaywalking violation and ends up in jail for two days and nobody knows where he went.
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 20, 2014 -> 04:02 PM) They had some guys working out at my gym pre-draft. McBuckets was one. That 19% on uncontested 3 pointers is shocking to me. I saw him hit about 15 in a row in a drill. It was unreal. He wil turn it around. NBA is hard. He doesn't know what uncontested means at this point because defenders are so much more athletic and faster closing out. He's probably rushing shots thinking defenders can close out faster than they can.
  23. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 20, 2014 -> 03:47 PM) Right now, McDermott doesn't even look like an NBA player at times. He really has looked bad as of late. Again, not calling him a bust and I'm a patient guy, just find it absurd everyone saying he needs more minutes and those people that still seem to think he should be starting (although no one on this board has said that recently in regards to starting). Guy needs to gain confidence and pronto cause he really seems to be struggling with his current role. Namely it would help a whole lot if he could get his shot back on track. He's shooting 19% on uncontested 3 pointers. I'm convinced he'll be good come jan-feb, let's say post all star break. But it does seem like after every game people are convinced any offensive dry spell would be fixed by Doug McDermott. The dude is like boozer plus/minus territory on the court.
  24. Some cold water for the overheaded loins of doug-mcdermott-starter fans: http://www.blogabull.com/2014/11/19/724625...ike-dunleavy-jr
