  1. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 14, 2014 -> 05:25 PM) The fee is for the year you're filing the taxes for, so picking up coverage in 2015 wouldn't help you meet your requirements for 2014, plus you need to be insured for at least 9 months out of the year. Interesting.
  2. I love this mayor. I want to move to minneapolis for it's low unemployment and awesome mayor.
  3. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Nov 14, 2014 -> 04:58 PM) Well, that's laughable. Where are they going to go to make more money, even if they took a pay cut here? A competing single payer system? There is nowhere for them to go, and they won't just "stop practicing medicine", as it's likely their only method to make a living. I agree with what you say, but with comments like these I'm just wondering how much of the 2009-10 health care fight you remember. Cutting doctor pay would have been impossible. Nationalized insurance is a way easier sell than nationalized health care.
  4. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Nov 14, 2014 -> 05:15 PM) I wonder if someone can explain how the tax penalty works. We have insurance through my wife’s employer. Our oldest daughter just turned 18 in August and just started her first PT job about a month ago. She was included on our insurance plan but we have been fighting with idiots at the insurance company because they kept insisting they needed more information to prove that we are US citizens. Apparently birth certificates, driver’s licenses and school ids weren’t good enough somehow. Somewhere in the midst of all this, they kicked our daughter off. We found later it was somehow related to the fact that my wife was still going by her maiden name when she had her (we were 18 at the time). This made zero sense because we had our second daughter before we were married as well. We’ll be able to get her back on before the year ends and she only works about 12 hours a week so I doubt her yearly income will even be enough to make the penalty enforceable but I’m not 100% sure on that. Also FWIW, we found out that our insurance costs will actually go down next year. It’ll be around $60/month. That's an interesting question. If you had no insurance for 2014 but are insured at tax time 2015, do you pay a penalty? I would guess no but I'm not sure.
  5. It also had the bundled payments to help with this. They actually threw a ton of small changes at the hope that any stuck. Probably a good idea because they had no idea what was the reason behind the explosing for 30 years and did not have political capital for single payer.
  6. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Nov 14, 2014 -> 05:47 PM) Remember the Atlanta game when we thought the Bears turned a corner... RIP 2014. Haha, I was thinking about when I listend to the first half of the dolphins game thinking the Bears still had to win a game. Oh how long ago that feels now.
  7. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 14, 2014 -> 02:27 AM) Oh my goodness jesus H christ. So in a little over an hour, we've got Davis surpassing peak KG, Hakeem, Duncan and being more valuable going forward than a top 5 player of all-time, injury proof, physical marvel and the greatest offensive wing talent of all-time? #soxtalk LOL coming from you. I do think it's interesting to think about what a team can accomplish with a dominant big man. We haven't seen it since 09-10 Dwight, but he was less of an offensive player than AD appears to be. In modern NBA, is there a limitation to how far you can go with a player who needs others to get him the ball? Is it offset by defense? Will be a fun couple of years with him. Man, if Charlotte got him as they should have that draft, they would be terrifying.
  8. Missed game, was thrilled we handled Raptors who have looked great, and still hit 100 again. Sad Derrick got tweaked again, happy it led to Joakim's comments, which were awesome.
  9. QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 14, 2014 -> 05:20 PM) Adidas shoes usually have very good ankle support. But they're so damn light that it's extremely easy to take a wrong step on a cut and just fall. I believe Derrick's shoes are designed for ankle braces.
  10. Whoa, the Blazers had 84 points in a half against a team not named the 76ers?
  11. Wait, so this guy is another not-really-corner-outfielder with a nice bat? No thanks. Can't wait for the sox to be first team to experiment having a lineup of 8 bad left fielders.
  12. SOMEBODY CHECK ALL FLIGHTS FROM EVEYRWHEe
  13. QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 13, 2014 -> 08:31 PM) Even with peak Duncan, I never thought he should definitely be the guy to take the last shot on that team. But then again, the Spurs are a really bad example of hero ball, which is kind of what I'm talking about right now. Spurs used to be a really slow-paced team in his heyday
  14. QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 13, 2014 -> 06:48 PM) I still think, that at the end of the day, the ability to close out a game and put your team on your shoulder offensively matters almost more than anything in the NBA. I'm not sure if AD will ever have the closing ability of LeBron or Durant. Where did you view peak Duncan.
  15. I can't get past the title. Did it get worse from there?
  16. QUOTE (Jake @ Nov 12, 2014 -> 11:20 PM) Yeah, I'll go ahead and celebrate even less salary flexibility for the Tigs I feel like this board has been saying this for 4 years as our team has imploded and theirs has won division 4 straight.
  17. I'm in minority who thinks Victor will be like Edgar and be pretty dang good to age 40.
  18. Is that the phrase? I always that it was "I'll be damned"
  19. Ha, that does remind me of the soxfest before 2005 when KW was getting grilled to sign Iguchi.
  20. Bulls and Medically cleared does not mean much.
  21. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Nov 12, 2014 -> 07:34 PM) Could the argument not be made that he did just this the last two seasons? No.
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 12, 2014 -> 07:28 PM) I personally think what he said and what he meant are 2 different things. I am not going to play tonight because I might be sore in 20 years if I do, but I should be able to play tomorrow night with no 20 year reprecutions makes no sense. The best shot he has of not "being sore" in meetings and graduations in the future is to not play at all. He is just relaying what he has been told improperly, and not everyone wants to believe outside of basketball , there is a reason someone took an SAT for him. The reality is, and it's 100% true, Rose is horribly inarticulate. He often says stuff that sounds ridiculous only to completely contradict it the next day. His behavior has always indicated that when he walks his statements back, those are what he really meant. So getting self-righteous about how athletes are holding organizations hostage is absurd.
  23. QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Nov 12, 2014 -> 07:02 PM) this isn't about sprained ankles. and yes, I agree the Bulls handled that situation very poorly but that's not the discussion at hand here. we are talking about a player deciding when he should and shouldn't play because he's worried about life after basketball. if you don't see that as a problem, then I don't know what else to say Okay, cool. Whenever this actually happens where Rose sits out a game 7 because he doesn't want to be sore later on, I will be the first to say congrats. But that will never happen. Rose is not Andrew Bynum or Albert Belle and he never will be. There's a reason his teammates love him. It's not because he is a selfish person.
  24. QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Nov 12, 2014 -> 06:34 PM) he's getting paid to play. when a player can dictate when he plays and doesn't play and still gets paid without repercussions, then yes that is holding the team hostage. This isn't a scenario we are even living in, getting upset about this stuff is just ridiculous. Sports fandom in 21st century is 90% psychoanalyzing bulls***. Rose sat an extra day with 2 SPRAINED ANKLES. He evne tried playing on it the day before. He isn't holding the bulls hostage. Meanwhile the Bulls almost killed a player 2 years ago. How's that for corrupted power.
  25. QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 12, 2014 -> 06:30 PM) 2? That Redskins team back in 2012-2013 was pretty good. They barely made the playoffs in a terrible division.
