  1. I kind of feel like this, if losing Thibs is inevitable, then I'd rather we trade him and get something.
  2. Do people think Shaw will actually come back or do you think he's out for playoffs?
  3. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ May 14, 2014 -> 04:25 PM) If the Bulls come to the conclusion that Thibodeau will never win a title because he beats his players into the ground or Thibs decides to go somewhere else and they can hire Fred Hoiberg, I'd be ok with it. I love Thibodeau but in the NBA players matter so much more. We are watching the Thunder perennially underachieve with Scott Brooks.
  4. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 14, 2014 -> 02:56 PM) For "The State of Hockey" they are pretty stupid at times. I spent 30 min arguing with a client when he told me the reason the series was so close is because the teams play the exact same style of hockey. I'm going to blame STL for this. Those fans are obsessed with themselves and still think the 92 playoffs or whenever the "Belfour" thing happened and wanted to recreate it. I'm sure MN was just picking up on that. I blame pretty much everything bad in sports on STL fans though.
  5. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ May 14, 2014 -> 03:45 AM) So Hawks win this on some BS goal in OT, right? Get outplayed, 100% deserve to lose, goalie saves your ass, some fluke ass s*** wins it. If I'm a Wild fan, that's all I can think about right now. #littlehurtcoffeetime Prophecy
  6. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 13, 2014 -> 10:14 PM) The thread. I have to think the Sox are going to trade one or two infielders at some point, and then he comes up. So yeah. I'd rather not to be honest. Last time that happened we chose BA.
  7. He'll absolutely be here in September. His extended ST look ought to have sold us on that.
  8. I feel like I've heard things about kids throwing breaking balls too early forever. Why now the problem?
  9. Yeah, people have stuff. It's not like Sunday afternoon traffic on 90/94 is a joy for anyone. I think it's the fact that 5 years of largely inconsequential baseball north and south (barring 2012) has led to a serious deteriation of fan interest of baseball. Add to that late playoff runs for bulls and Blackhawks, and then that ends and baseball sucks and people are just waiting for football.
  10. Before Copeland started the bench press reps at Pro Day he turned on Metallica and then had a teammate slap him in the face.
  11. Are invitations for those all set? I was hoping Mizzou'd max copeland would get an invite. He's trying to make it as a fullback.
  12. Most chilling line of that article: Average age of the Tommy John surgery for this years injured: 24.2.
  13. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ May 13, 2014 -> 07:02 PM) No one has signed Colt Lyerla. What a waste of talent. No kidding. You have to have been really, really redflagged for people not even wanting risk of a UDFA contract.
  14. Good article.http://grantland.com/the-triangle/jose-fernandez-elbow-injury-mlb-tommy-john-epidemic/
  15. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ May 13, 2014 -> 03:27 PM) Another reason I'm not big on the Watkins trade is that it's proven you can get really good WR in later rounds. Just look at some of the best WR in football. A lot of them were taken in 2nd and later rounds. Brandon Marshall Alshon Jeffery Jordy Nelson James Jones Greg Jennings Pierre Garcon TY Hilton Eric Decker Few of these are true #1s. Most of those are product of good passing system which arguable if Bills have. Of best WRs regardless in football, I can't think of one that isn't a #1 pick: Megatron AJ Green Andre Johnson Larry Fitz Julio Jones
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 13, 2014 -> 01:50 PM) The story of Texas HS phenom Todd Van Poppel. Better than Nolan Ryan. Better than Roger Clemens. He did the Braves a favor saying he wouldn't sign. They had to draft Chipper Jones instead. No matter how hard these HS phenoms throw, there is great danger. A lot bigger chance they are Todd Van Poppel than Dwight Gooden without the crack rock. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/art...801/5/index.htm Isn't this all draft picks?
  17. Should signings go in NFL thread or this one?
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 13, 2014 -> 03:37 AM) Kansas City has no transit system. Fans get in their cars and go. I think suburbia would support the Sox pretty well. People that want to see a Sox game or two would get in their cars and go to the games. How many fans nowadays who can afford tickets end up taking transit to the Cell for night games where the thought is you'll get mugged? I can understand you saying suburbia isn't the answer, but I don't see why you need transit. The suburbanites all have cars. Now will they want to pay the exorbitant Sox parking fees, I dunno. There comes a point an intelligent person just can't see paying $40 bucks or whatever it is to have your car sit in a lot for 3 hours. Is it better to have two highway options? If everybody got off in Lisle you mean it'd be backed up forever? What about way out in Naperville, Bolingbrook or over the other way in Schaumburg?? First off, Kauffman Stadium is only 7 miles from downtown KC. Second, downtown KC isn't that dense, like St. Louis most of the population is living in surrounding areas. Naperville is 30 miles away. [edit] THIRD, parking is not $40. [edit] Also, many fans take the red line/green line back from the stadium. They are either taking it north to go back to union station, or they are going to their other cta trainline. I have not heard of people scared of being robbed for over a decade. You are walking to and from major trainlines with dozens of people. That's not a great target for a robbery.
  19. Frankly it seems like Sox have played every day for 2 months. I kinda expected this.
  20. would be shocked if it's not Tommy John. (fantasy wise this is devastating for me). Just goes to show you, just ride sale until it happens. You never know who it's going to happen to.
  21. And really Mike Brown should never be a HC again, but I'm sure he'll be snatched up right away because NBA.
  22. I'm gonna side with wite sort of. Always tough to lose a 1st rounder, and receivers are never sure things. However, if Watkins is as dynamic as some think, nobody will ever claim to hold the opinion "but they had Stevie Johnson and had to trade up!". Those players are game changers and if they think he is one you do what you do to get em.
  23. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ May 12, 2014 -> 08:28 PM) You're one of few people who loves the location. It's convenient for people near a line, or that metra line, maybe. Suburbanites? Very tough. Sure it's on a highway but getting through the circle is a nightmare (even after games). Plus, there aren't a ton of people coming from directly south of the cell using that highway. It's not that I love the location but I've not seen other options that were better. If you are in NW suburbs, in all likelihood there is not going to be an option that makes your travel significantly better. Same with travel from the West. But what you will lose by moving out there is the 50% of Chicago households who don't own cars.
  24. I would never, ever go to a game if it were in sw suburbs. I love where sox stadium is. It has 2 major CTA train lines. It is right off of a major highway. It also has metra stops directly along it's route. I understand the criticism of "not enough stuff to do around park" but if it's that the stadium is hard to get to you aren't going to fix that going to the suburbs.
  25. Isn't the purpose of the SLDR though that it can be easily adjusted per your natural swing path? Good luck with the Nikes, I haven't heard too much good things on them but I think that's due to how poorly their first generation of clubs were received. I bought some demo'd callaways last year (razrs) and have loved them.
