QUOTE (ptatc @ Aug 14, 2014 -> 08:34 PM) Fales will be the #3 quarterback on the team. They drafted him to develop him not to play this year. You can develop players on the practice squad.

I think this was a great article from Vox speaking with the former Seattle chief of police (WTO protests era) http://www.vox.com/2014/8/14/6002451/fergu...ttle/in/5757650

Some good points there. But there was an absence of MSM reporting on Ferguson through much of the weekend (really, I think the overemphasis on the looting on Sunday night is due to that being the only coverage the MSM trotted out there) Twitter while spreading some crap (and almost all of it from these anonymous themed twitter feeds) has been incredible for this story. Most of my friends are from Missouri, I feel like I know the ins and outs of this from Saturday afternoon. I think this is the best example of twitter even with the crap parts.

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Aug 14, 2014 -> 07:49 PM) Enjoy that, it's only costing you a quarter a month on your cable bill. Inside SEC territory, it's going to run each cable subscriber $1.40 a month. Eh, comcast it's in the plus package. feels like I'm paying a lot more than that, but my wife gets DIY network soooo

Really re: Fales? I don't think there will be much hand wringing there. By the time fales is dropped another player on a nother team will be cut for this guy that there will be limited tape of. I doubt he would get picked up.

Ferguson Riots
the looting on Sunday night has been a reprehensible, but small portion of what has gone on. Peaceful protests have been met with snipers aiming on them. I know the #bothsides crowd must always have their #bothsides needs met, but the government should and must be held to a higher standard, and the behavior and strategy to meet an outraged community with overwhelming force has been a disgusting chapter on a story that has been building for decades.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 14, 2014 -> 04:56 PM) No idea where it ranks compared to other cities but the murder rate is 9.4 per 100k people as of 2012. You are right, I read that wrong. http://www.city-data.com/crime/crime-Ferguson-Missouri.html 2 murders in 2012, 9.4 per 100k

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 14, 2014 -> 03:15 PM) Please. Let's ignore that certain neighborhoods are worse than others and need a different method of policing. For zero reason at all, you have jumped to the logic that this neighborhood is the equivalent of Englewood and that they should be met with military force. WHile it would even be debatable that protests in Englewood should be met with antimine vehicles, let's look at Ferguson: Ferguson is slightly above average to the national norm, and for city suburbs looks pretty normal. Averages 2 murders per 100,000 people per year in 2012, but total crime is slightly above national average. It's hard to get neighborhood year breakdowns, but by all accounts Ferguson is safer than my home of Logan Square. I know that I would be livid if met with this type of force. Englewood averages 2.6 violent crimes per 1,000 people per thirty days.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 14, 2014 -> 02:59 PM) So you expect cops to go in basically unarmed to quell a protest/riot that turned to violence in an area where there could be guns (and not really "could be" in this case, because as I posted yesterday there was at least two shootings)? Well there "could be" guns anywhere in the united states. So your point is basically that our police should always arrive at any protest dressed as the military.

Yeah I'm sure that's what they are thinking and why Mike Brown is dead in the first place. Thanks for illustrating that.

I don't see why it matters either, that's why few people were discussing it. I will say, I am surprised sponsors for their teams don't put more pressure not to race in non-sponsored events.

All said, very glad DGB is not on this team, especially after the swimmer case. I hope we hear charges filed soon on that front as well. SEC network launches tonight, wooo. Mizzou offense this year I don't know what will happen, but I think there may be some fun D players to watch: Josh Augusta, Charles Harris, Shane Ray/Golden (duh), and Kentrell Brothers. Most all of them Dlineman. Harris was a 0 star recruit they signed because they liked how he looked in basketball. Only played football for 2 years and is now our 2 deep DE as a RS Frosh. Some might be scared by that, but after following mizzou dline over last 10 years, I'm excited.

Ferguson Riots
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 14, 2014 -> 08:09 AM) The police response tonight was horrendous. There should be some mass firings, starting with the police chief. You can't arrest reporters for doing nothing wrong. You can't throw teargas at a media crew. That's the media part of this. Also, you can't throw teargas in neighborhoods when the people aren't doing anything violent. What's more the cop who killed that kid has to be charged with murder and tried. It's just the way it is. You can't kill an unarmed person and not at least be tried for the crime. That cop should be charged soon. But will he be?? This is where I am. I really don't care that there was looting any more. By and large since then "rioting" is not the problem. Yesterday the police, looking like military, lined up around a a daytime peaceful protest with guns trained on the protestors. By all appearances they are declaring war on that community, and have lost all legitimacy. When that happens, horrible things are liable to keep coming up. The feds/state police/anyone need to take over. If you are nervous that the crowd unrest will turn into violence, use the same riot shield + baton that works in every other city. Batoning people obviously sucks but rubber bullets can kill people. You are also much less likely to shoot a baton at someone on their front lawn.

For people that use anonymous as a news source, they should read through the Steubenville thread. They had maybe 95% of the details incorrect on that story.

Ferguson Riots
QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Aug 13, 2014 -> 10:38 PM) Really? Just how common are they? Daily happenings? Weekly? Several times a year? I'd say police murdering innocent civilians several times a year is too common. How often does that happen in other comparable countries?

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 13, 2014 -> 10:31 PM) You're absolutely right these things shouldn't happen in 2014, but that's a far cry from claiming that America isn't for black people. I mean I forgot that all black people in this country are second class citizens. There are no politicians, business leaders, actors, actresses, professional sports athletes that are respected, idolized, cheered for, etc. in this country. None whatsoever. But hey, overreacting to these types of stories, making it a racial issue that white people have to feel defensive about is the best way to go about changing things. As is looting and rioting and behaving like uncivilized threats that cops use to justify their overreactions. Maybe instead of "Gah! White people hate black people!" (which isn't true), the story line here should be "Gah! Police have become militarized in this country and are out of control and we need to re-think that whole thing because people keep getting shot, punched, assaulted, etc. for no justifiable reason." That's great, doesn't really help the fact that police may have executed a black teen, which has become all too common. Maybe white people shouldn't feel defensive and instead listen to why they are so angry instead of telling them they can't be angry until some standard is met. Try to imagine if the tools that are supposed to keep society running were instead harassing and threatening and even killing your community. Look how pissed people get at bureaucracy in here, which is justified, now imagine the IRS killing your neighbors. Probably would be more vocal.

QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 12, 2014 -> 03:25 PM) I've been renting and watching BBC's Sherlock (I'm just one episode into season 2). I like it, but only 3 episodes a season is a sad disappointment. Yeah, but they are each mini-movies at 1.5 hrs long. I'm usually pretty exhausted after one.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 13, 2014 -> 12:38 PM) He couldn't turn, it's impossible to turn on a dirt track without skidding out of control and injuring or killing more bystanders than a Final Destination movie. Or so they say. Yes that's what's being said Caulfield.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 12, 2014 -> 06:58 PM) Its probably a small leak in the roof as the mold is in the ceiling drywall and only in two spots. I called a mold remediation guy and it seems kind of pricey for a garage. You may want to try multiple estimates here, mold is big money nowadays. I'd be more worried about the water damage getting worse after a bad fall/winter/spring.
