  1. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 23, 2014 -> 05:36 PM) I agree it probably drags out but they could agree now since any deal is likely on Love resigning. If he does so now the agreement will leak. I could see a team, especially as conservative as the bulls, giving a deadline for their offer. I don't think they'd want a distraction for a long period of time. Hell, KC Johnson was interviewing taj all morning.
  2. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jul 23, 2014 -> 06:24 PM) I'm not a Love fan, simple as that. Is he a top 5, not IMO. Top 10 yeah, but as great as he is offensively, he's bad defensively. I also think he's a bit of a statpadder, so sue me. His great stats haven't exactly translated to wins, right? You know how many top ten players there are in the NBA? 10. When you have a chance to get one in a position to succeed, you do it.
  3. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 23, 2014 -> 05:16 PM) This morning Cowley was on M&H and he was scoffing at the possibility of the Bulls pulling this off, and he has done a complete 180 on it, even so far as to say he should have bet against himself. This really has become interesting. What's that? Sinking guy, irrational exhuberance? yes, it's the moment right before bulls fans hopes get crushed. Because it is 2 weeks since our roster took shape, I'm conflicted. I've already convinced myself this team can win a championship and that Snell will be MVP...now I have to go back to thinking about what it would be like with 3 players who could be top 5 in mvp voting....so tough
  4. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 23, 2014 -> 06:08 PM) Honestly, I'm calling bulls*** on this one. McDermott and Mirotic, of what we know, is extremely an extremely strong starting offer. I wouldn't have thought so probably because I assumed that would be a package for so long, but have been surprised how much national media is taking that seriously. Oh NBA offseason, right as I'm almost out, you pull me back in.
  5. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jul 23, 2014 -> 05:39 PM) I think you guys are being way too harsh on AB. He was clearly hurt last year and was overweight. He's slimmed down and has recovered from his shoulder injury. He has alot of talent, he may never turn out to be the player an overall number one pick should be but I believe he'll become at least a solid PF. To the guy who posted that he'd think hard about a Hinrich/Bennett trade, lol, I'd do that in a heartbeat. I love how you act like Kevin Love who averages 26-12-5 in a loaded conference for PFs is overhyped and not worth any talent offered for him, but wax poetically about Anthony Bennett and all these players who've done nothing in the league.
  6. I think Wiggins being a #2 to Lebron is the best thing that can happen to him. I saw a lot of leadership out of Melo his year at Syracuse. I saw a lot of leadership out of Lebron right away, and at high school. AD, rose, etc. in their freshman years. I didn't get that out of Wiggins. He's this big, freakish talent that didn't will himself into games in a pretty down college bball season.
  7. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Jul 23, 2014 -> 04:11 PM) So basically, no matter what comes out of the KLove situation, at this point the Bulls are securing some type of win. Because I don't feel like the bulls will land Love (and despite my earlier clamoring, even I feel somewhat uncomfortable treating these players like that. It's one thing to trade Mirotic's rights, it's another to debut him with a press conference and then trade him 2 weeks later), to me best case scenario is wolves keeping love and losing him for nothing to LA/Bos next summer.
  8. QUOTE (Boogua @ Jul 23, 2014 -> 03:53 PM) No argument there. I still don't know why things would be so different with Love than Bosh when Bosh was very clearly a better post player than Love. Maybe it was bad coaching. I don't know. Bosh was oddly inconsistent in Miami. Maybe it was being used so differently than Toronto, but some games he would do that and they were incredible. But it seemed like it was rarely in the playoffs. Maybe it was like what we see with bulls. Some inspired offensive play by Noah/Taj, and then Rose gets on the floor and it's like they just watch.
  9. QUOTE (Boogua @ Jul 23, 2014 -> 03:26 PM) Lebron did it because he had to? Chris Bosh took 56% of his shots within 10 feet his last year with Toronto because that was much more of his game. Lebron needs floor spacers because he's much more effective around the rim than most everybody else. This is why Bosh became a stretch 4. I don't know why they would take Love, a guy who isn't nearly as effective around the rim as Bosh was in Toronto, let alone Lebron, and make him play in the post. I'm not talking about the 80% of the game where Love will be sitting 15-20 feet on the outside, I'm talking about the 20% of the game, or 1 game in 5 where defense has clamped down on their perimeter and James has gone down low, collapsed the defense on him and opened up easier shots while banging down low. He doesn't do that all game, he's mostly driving on a weak matchup and finishing. That's not a post game, which is what I'm talking about. Love can play that role going down low, and distributing, because he's a really good passer, and is a good enough threat down low. He's at least much more of a sure bet to help with those duties than Andy and Tristan Thompson.
  10. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 23, 2014 -> 03:17 PM) Well short? Meh. Mirotic is not exactly a slouch. Maybe not talent wise, but the contracts Minnesota is getting is going to allow them to build a team around them. (or, they'll strike out on all FA's like the hawks).
  11. QUOTE (Boogua @ Jul 23, 2014 -> 03:02 PM) Lebron is much more likely to be the post guy. I totally disagree. I think Lebron did it because he had to, but it (rightfully) wears him out. And the older he gets the harder it will be for him to take that role every night. Obviously, Rose (edit: Rose? I meant love) is a stretch 4, but he can absolutely go down low and distribute well, not Lebron well, but well.
  12. You know what Lebron's not going to want to do as he gets older? Bang in the post. You know who can take over those duties for him? Love. Love can play the high low fun game for him. The dude is averaging 26-12-4.5 on 46% shooting and 38% shooting from three as the man on that team. Bosh shot 30% from 3. his volume of shots will go down, but likely his interior shooting will go up with teams prepping to collapse on Lebron help OR he provides incredible spacing for Lebron because unlike Bosh, teams legitimately need to defend his 3s. Wiggins may well be great but nobody is going to laugh that you traded for a guy with Charles Barkley numbers.
  13. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 23, 2014 -> 06:19 AM) Are we so sure about the extent to which Kyrie is a better HORSE player than Rubio? Are you serious?
  14. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 23, 2014 -> 04:02 AM) gmab. Kevin Garnett had mostly crap around him and had to go up against the shaq/kobe lakers, prime duncan spurs, webber/peja/divac kings, dirk/nash mavs, portland was pretty good from what i remember and still made the playoffs every year outside of a couple. I like love a lot. But he's become overrated ever since LeBron went back to cleveland. He's a net-minus defensively and doesn't do anything to make guys better around him. I personally don't give up a potential t-mac on offense, paul george on defense for him. Dang, so Wiggins is like, the next Scottie Pippen it sounds like.
  15. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 23, 2014 -> 02:24 AM) What bothers me is if the sox even remotely show life against Chen, now you gotta face their pen. Whereas the Sox have Javy Guerra lighting the infield on fire Yeah, well could be worse. You could have all that young talent this board could dream of, a lights out bullpen, a borderline number one, and be only 1 game up on the team with Scott Carroll and Javy guerra pitching.
  16. I like watching this team but I can't stomach watching cy Chen dominate us again.
  17. Yeah, there are so many "historic" rivalries that take precedent, think Tennessee vs Alabama. On its face it doesn't seem like it would get prime billing but it draws huge.
  18. I'm pretty sure 2 7-footers on the floor at the same time (if Noah puts his tall shoes on) was Jerry Krause's wet dream in 01-02.
  19. Dang, so for as bad as Gasol is defensively, he averaged 1.5 blocks/gm last year in limited minutes, Boozer had .3. That's the benefit of the added height even if defensively he's lost a step.
  20. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 22, 2014 -> 09:03 PM) But Cleveland fans are firmly saying that Wiggins is not in the offer and instead its Thompson and Waiters. And who wouldn't want such important pieces from Cleveland's amazing 26-56 team!
  21. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 22, 2014 -> 08:57 PM) If you are going to trade guys, you have to trade Gibson and Mirotic and just one wing. You can't gut your wings because if you trade all of them, you have no wings and improved an area on your roster that was a strength to begin with. You'd have to hope a front-runner like Allen and Shawn Marion sign for vet mins to fill out team. edit: I'm going to stop entertaining this as even real. Woj just posted a story 30 minutes ago that didn't even mention Bulls, but the Nuggets. Wolves are just trying to extort more from Cavs and good for them.
  22. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 22, 2014 -> 08:51 PM) No deal yet with Time Warner, but with Time Warner covering a really big chunk of Kentucky I imagine it will happen. Not that it matters, since CBS gets first pick of SEC games and ESPN gets 2nd-4th. SEC Network gets the leftovers. Yeah but I'm a mizzou fan, I am the leftovers
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 22, 2014 -> 08:43 PM) If you had to Choose...Taj and Butler for Wiggins or Taj and Butler for Love (ignore that the cap doesn't work in 1 case) which would you do from the Bulls perspective? With current roster construction I'd probably take Wiggins. But lets not completely laugh at butler/taj as a package. [edit: it's fine to laugh at the idea of taking it over Wiggins/Bennett, but yes, I do think with good coaching and a few players hitting their potential, wolves could improve their wins] Taj would actually be a great complement to Pekovic. The Wolves actually had a decent defense last year with two really bad forwards defensively. The two of them would move wolves to a top ten defense. Taj is also a legit 18-10 pf, but the problem is his age undercuts his value. If he was 20 when he came into the league rather than 24 we would have a hell of a trade chip. The continuing madness of the wolves however is how many damn players they have on that team. They look like they are hoarding assets but they don't use them.
  24. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jul 22, 2014 -> 08:27 PM) Chicago has 'loose' gun laws? Obviously he brought in a bunch of examples of comparable nations because he was talking about a city.
