QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 06:03 PM) I think Taj is 100% OK with being the 6th man. He dominates 2nd units and is almost always playing in the 4th anyway. He was told he'd be a starter this year.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 05:36 PM) They told him he would be a starter. Whoa whoa whoa whoa, so we decided to bring Taj in to sell Melo rather than trading him for max space, and then our response to Melo saying no is to sign a player to...push Taj to the bench? Nobody can convince me this isn't exhibit A of terrible front office management.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 05:29 PM) Nothing wrong with that though. I think that is likely the case. I think there are at least a few scenarios where it makes sense to keep Boozer and just use your exceptions. Then just look at moving Boozer closer to the deadline. Someone will be shedding cap for something and we should be able to buy some picks / assets with the deal. There is something wrong with that IMO if it is chasing a piece that is a more marginal improvement rather than an athletic wing/2nd ballhandler.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 05:25 PM) You were all over it. Mirotic is a great fit on this squad no matter what. I think the idea of having Pau here would be as a mentor / great back-up at the C position. I still question why we'd give Pau so much money and amnesty Boozer which is why I think the only way we get Pau is through a S&T which nets us a TPE. The key is the Bulls be willing to pay luxury tax / utilize that TPE. This team makes a lot of money and shouldn't be afraid of a We also are going to have a situation coming up with Butler soon. He's going to get 8-9M a year (if not more) and Bulls can obviously match but it will again push us closer to luxury tax. He will only be a true asset (due to contract) for so much longer. We, at this point, traded Deng for no reason (I assumed it would be to allow us to go into luxury this offseason). I don't particularly care about Jimmy anymore, I think his season last year was a major setback and would trade him for an asset like *snap*, but I'd gladly go into luxury tax if this team showed something next year.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 04:57 PM) Wasn't Rose at the Berto all week? That's what I mean. He's practicing at Berto with the rooks right now. No way he pops out to LA for a pitch without reggie spouting his mouth.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 03:44 PM) SAS: He got a call at 5pm yesterday saying hold on. Don't believe what you hear, Carmelo is having second thoughts. His family and him and thinking about Chicago. Also talks about how Phil is playing hard ball on S&T which might be why Melo has been leaning hard to Knicks. Clearly he isn't taking 50M less to play in Chicago. One less year and slightly less sure, but 50M, hahahaa. Honestly, if phil plays hardball, bulls should have made very clear they'll trade taj.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 04:36 PM) SAS now coming on ESPN 1000 to talk about fact Bulls are still in it. Interesting given how they were out of it per SAS a couple days back. Usually people tend to stick to their story unless good info comes the other way. Maybe there is some truth to this. I can't decide whether I love your or hate you Gage. This is mean or really nice.

Sox officially sign Rodon
QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 02:44 PM) Well, Rodon is the guy I wanted all along and I really expected the Sox to avoid drafting him because of Boras, so all in all I'm happy they signed him. I still didn't think it would be for that much over slot but if that's what it took, so be it. Totally agree. I think the gap between drafting him and the signing sort of tamed my excitement, naturally, but had you told me on June 1st this was how the draft would work out I would have jumped on a couch cruise style.

I'd support that. I'm not sure how TPE works and whether you get it when you still take back a piece. I'd still rather trade for Burks.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 03:22 PM) My issue with Gasol is you still don't have a scorer. Ok great, you have a good passer, but who is he passing it to? You know in the 4th Taj will be on the floor. So you have what, Noah, Taj, Gasol, Butler, Rose? Again, who is shooting the open shot? And really that line-up makes no sense if you're playing against a smaller team. Noah and Gasol are slow. So more realistically you're getting Gasol as a back-up/2nd unit guy. Which I guess is fine, but in the playoffs those guys don't really play THAT much. IMO Butler needs to go (or needs to become a back-up) and we need a better shooting guard/small forward. That is the key. Then hope Rose is Rose, Noah is Noah, and the new guys can contribute here and there and the offense becomes more of a unit than individuals. I don't think that 3 big lineup would play. But Taj/Gasol can hit 17 footers. I mean, you are right I'd much rather have a wing. But I'm glad they are pursuing sign and trade rather than amnesty + sign as it leaves us more flexibility.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 01:43 PM) Ya I don't get the point of Pau at all. For one, Nazr Muhammed was our backup C last year, so Noah played lots of minutes, or Taj played lots of minutes at 4 and 5 with Boozer at 4. This would allow a heavy defensive unit of Noah/Taj, or a really nice offensive unit of Gasol/Mirotic/Dunleavy/Doug or backup PG like Augustin if available You'd have 3 3-point shooters on the floor at the same time and a C who could find that outlet. When have we had that in past 4 years? It's not going to win you a championship but I'm resigned to that. It will provide more entertaining basketball for 82 games and as much as I b**** I'm going to watch the bulls until we lose the Jabari sweepstakes in '18. The reason I like the S&T is it leaves us with the ML to use on Mirotic.
