So, I'd place odds of Lebron leaving Miami are .5%. At least for another year, the Heat will be the Heat. Though, okay, maybe Bosh out for assets, I just don't see anyone on open market that would help them as much as him (even in terms of quantity).

Chile looks awesome. No wonder their fans broke into the stadium to see them.

Nope, he's a boob. I think Stephen A. Smith actually was the only one that was saying Miami the whole time, but I could be wrong. SAS said all 3 to miami but backtracked, but Broussard was the one that actually broke it a few days before.

Re-reading the tweets, let me clarify, Bernstein's was the more definitive "Bulls #1, up to them to make it happen". Broussards said bulls are just very high on the list. <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8">

Waiting for inevitable BREAKING: Carmelo Anthony Re-signs with Knicks for 5 year 110 million dollar deal

Broussard and Bernstein (twitteR) reporting Bulls are Melo's #1. Need to just clear capspace to finish deal.

Is that counting DL stint?

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jun 18, 2014 -> 07:21 PM) Start times should be standard in game threads. Also some sort of common nickname or fullname associated to the team.

QUOTE (scs787 @ Jun 18, 2014 -> 05:25 PM) You'll have to explain this one to me, I can honestly say that the 2010 team is what brought me back to basketball. I will admit that I didn't watch much of the dark days post Jordan. Are you saying Pax is still making the moves? Or Gar was making the moves even before 09? Last reply in this thread, let's move it over. Idea is that Paxson is very much involved in direction of team's personnel. I would say Forman probably leads scouting and development but this is very much a Paxson team still.

Honestly, look at what Celtics fans believe can land Love vs. Bulls fans. Bulls fans are prepared to trade their 2 time all star center, starting 3 and 4 for love and Celts fans think Jared Sullinger and some draft picks are enough. AND IT PROBABLY IS. https://twitter.com/BillSimmons/status/479272762465214465

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 18, 2014 -> 05:16 PM) Assuming Love gets traded and signs an extension, and LeBron never becomes a Knick, look at the 2015 free agent list and the rest of the Knicks roster. Aldridge would be a good signing, but that team wouldn't be a title contender IMO. If they or any team can land LeBron, everything changes. Yeah, ultimately that's why I think Melo is out. Melo/Chandler plus some role players I think would be their pitch, but not having draft picks during this time is just KILLER to a rebuild.

QUOTE (scs787 @ Jun 18, 2014 -> 05:18 PM) Gar Forman has been the GM since 09....I thought we were talking about THIS FO? This to me is like blaming Hahn for moves KW made. There's a reason GarPax is a thing.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 18, 2014 -> 05:12 PM) They have missed out on every single big move over the last 10-15 years. It is easier to say which ones they hit on. Draft Rose. Ben Wallace was a big FA move, but ultimately a bust.
-
QUOTE (scs787 @ Jun 18, 2014 -> 05:11 PM) I guess I just don't understand what they could have done differently. If all this falls on the fact they didn't get Lebron to play here then that's silly. Those guys had a plan and there was nothing the Bulls could have done about it. They then got the next best FA and proceeded to be one of the "winningest" teams in the NBA. No they didn't win a title with said team but that's because their star player has been made of pyrek. We never got to see how far the team they assembled could have really gone. What other big moves have they missed out on? They were perpetually linked to Kevin Garnett, whiffed on 2000 free agency period (signed eddie robinson instead), Kobe Bryant in 06, Bron/Bosh/Wade in 2010, Howard sweepstakes. The bulls of 00-08 were full of assets that they could have swung for a big splash. But they fall in love with their Kirk Hinrichs and cannot let go. Instead of a "WHAT COULD THEY HAVE DONE", look at the superstars that have switched hands since 2000 and then tell me the bulls assets could have never landed anyone. Where there's a will there's a way.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 18, 2014 -> 05:04 PM) I think ultimately its too much money for Melo to leave on the table and the Knicks would like something back. I'm not entirely convinced Jackson really wants Melo to stay. By the time they are good again, unless they can land LeBron, Melo is going to be a little long in the tooth. They have a ton of money next year. That was the issue, they were asking Melo to wait for help in 2015-16. I am kind of convinced too that the Knicks will not do him any favors. They hired Phil because they thought they'd get the recruiting efforts for stars like Pat Riley. If his first move is to lose their only star that would be a huge blow.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 18, 2014 -> 05:02 PM) While I share this position, to be fair, they did try in 2010. They made moves to get prepared for the big move. It just didn't work out. I still wonder what happens in 2010 if they had Lee instead of Boozer. Would that have been enough to overcome the Heat? Apparently their presentation to Lebron has become an ongoing joke and was basically a powerpoint.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 18, 2014 -> 05:00 PM) Zero % chance of Melo to the Heat. It would require Wade to opt out. And why would he do that? He's guaranteed 42 million the next 2 seasons, despite being a bench guy now. He won't get that on the open market. And although unlikely, what if he opts out to resign with the Heat and they offer him substantially less. Manu got 7 million this last year, and that seemed like an overpay. Who played better this year? Who still looks like he's got some gas in the tank? So now you're asking Lebron to make a bunch less (he'd probably do it given his endorsement money), Bosh to take way less (maybe) and Carmelo to take way less (maybe). All for a team that has Lebron, but still wouldn't have much of a bench. Exactly plus doing that to Wade after he has been the original Heat member, and, you know, organized their championships is just too low for someone as childish as James.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 18, 2014 -> 04:55 PM) I don't think he is that interested in Boston; I don't see why going to Boston makes things better. They aren't set-up to win, especially not if they give up the package being discussed. I guess I don't know their cap situation so maybe they have the ability to add another star a year from now? Eh, Boston isn't too far. Rondo/Love/Green is playoffs in east. Plus #6 pick. Plus they are a competent organization with a terrific coach. Obviously not taken into account is I have no idea what Boston's proposed assets are.

QUOTE (scs787 @ Jun 18, 2014 -> 04:44 PM) Ye have little faith...want a cookie? I'm fairly confident, for whatever reason, they'll get one of the 2. Melo probably makes the more sense since he's probably opting out so it wouldn't cost them draft picks and it wouldn't require completely gutting the team. It's not that I have little faith. It was obvious to me it was going to be Melo because time and time again this Front Office has proven that they lack the ability to pursue players who are under contract. Free agency they understand! Okay, in 2 years x player will be available. They can plan for it, they get it. Having to trade for Love? They have no idea how that works. I imagine they feel awkward about how to start the conversation with Flip. Maybe some smalltalk, but then what? Ugh, it's just so much easier in free agency.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 18, 2014 -> 04:33 PM) He probably would have blown out both knees by now if he were on the Bulls. Hahaha

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 18, 2014 -> 04:22 PM) Kawhi Leonard learned how to shoot. He always had the athleticism and physical make up to be a star in this league. Obviously matching up with the right coaching staff helped him get where he is but he'd be just as good somewhere else as he is in SA now. Would he learn how to shoot if he was on the Bulls?

Bill Simmons tweeting that the Celts are in the lead to land Love with the Warriors not wanting to rid K. Thompson and Bulls focusing on Melo. And the race to end up with neither begins.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 18, 2014 -> 03:39 PM) I've played 3-4 holes perfect before, just awesome drives, 2nd shots and putts, and then followed it up with 3 awful holes where i'm all over the place and hitting shots fat. Consistency is why the guys on the tour are on the tour. When friends and I play and we hit terrible shots or have terrible holes, we laugh and scream "GOLFING!" Because that's what it is - a bunch of terrible/not good stuff that pisses you off, and then you hit one great shot and it's all worth it. I usually play city courses, but Sunday for fathers day I played at a country club. It's amazing how hard it is to be consistent on a good course. for a straight up, 140yd-220 straight fairway shot, I will have a great hit and people will say " man, you have a beautiful swing". Now put me in rough, on a hill, in a trap, etc, and I can't recover. And good courses constantly put you in "recovery mode". Those are the shots (within 100yds, chipping onto a downhill green) that make you a good golfer. And they are the shots you can't even really practice!

Has anyone actually asked about the loss of velocity from E. Johnson? Seems like it's just about his performance. Edit: By anyone, I mean any media to Sox front office or even media like Steve Stone.

Great writeup. Loved hearing about his fastball. As we saw with Sale, pitchers get smarter and more confident in their "non-out" pitches. He may start out with us trusting his slider, but eventually he'll realize how effective a fastball of his speed and caliber can be if placed correctly (and just coming from a left-hander). Then as he ages, we give him a cutter. Anyway Hall of fame.
