  1. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 9, 2014 -> 07:45 PM) bmags, danman and I win regardless of what Bryce does...but come on man, you've had TJ surgery and Mizzou's baseball team was so bad last year that we got an apology from a staff member for having to cover such a bad team. I'm with SS, if Sox can pull together a number like 590k plus a full ride scholarship, you're crazy to turn that down coming off TJ. Don't get me wrong, I don't understand how the #33 overall draft prospect chose Mizzou, but Mizzou has done a very good job getting pitchers to the bigs. But, the difference between 500k and 2,000,000 isn't trivial. That is the amount where the gamble becomes harder. I'm surprised someone with TJ isn't gonna give it a go, but the fact that he went 13 and not 11 seems like he is confident in this risk.
  2. So, if sox can scrape below slot for 10 rounds and offer him 575k plus a full ride, what does that mean for a prospect? Is he going to college during his minor league career? is it like military where he can utilize 4 years of a state school education at any point?
  3. University of Missouri is also an incredible school. Once in a lifetime shot there. Nobody could turn that down.
  4. Are we all guessing that Montes De Oca will be something we won't know until we see Adams and Rodon in the fold? From what I've seen people think it will take 7 figures. I can't imagine we can generate that much with Rodon and Adams going over slot.
  5. Agreed, people need to remember how raw Anderson was. He is seeing a huge jump in talent from his JuCo where he came from. Balls are being hit harder and base runners are faster. He is learning more advanced technique and timing. This will all take time and he has time.
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 9, 2014 -> 04:31 PM) Melo, Love and DRose on the floor at the same time would make for some Paul Westhead type scores. The Bulls would put up 125 with regularity. They probably would give up 125 with regularity as well. Right, I feel like that's the Houston Rockets. To be honest, I think a lineup of Rose-Butler-Dunleavy-Love-Noah would probably be a better team than that rose - melo - love lineup.
  7. I don't think significantly downgrading our C position to significantly upgrade our PF is what anyone on bulls would be looking for. We'd also be the first team to ever give up that much for a superstar.
  8. I think Adams has higher potential than Danish without a doubt. We have no idea how these groundouts numbers will translate for Danish. Adams stuff is much more traditional and has a great frame to fill out.
  9. Has someone shared this info with the sox brass? Rock?
  10. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Jun 7, 2014 -> 08:43 PM) Ok so if your name is Kiley why don't you just call yourself kYylE? Seriously that's a major issue for me. I wanted to pull this out. Lol.
  11. I'm trying to think if I was Spencer Adams if I would take the payday, spend 3 great years of my life in buses across the minor leagues, or if I would go to college with the potential of getting a 5 million payday by waiting. Tough call.
  12. Dang, we are getting to the players with no write-ups.
  13. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 07:17 PM) Lets hope some of these guys fall to the Sox: Keith Weisenberg - RHP Micheal Cantu - 1B/C/3B JJ Schwarz - C Bryce Montes de Oca - RHP David Peterson - LHP Kel Johnson - OF I feel like 'JJ's have high MLB success.
  14. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 07:11 PM) I don't know what the hell they're up to. Overall I've probably been more positive about their overall plan than most but this draft for them is beyond bizarre. To me, they didn't like any real players at 4, so they took best bat available as a trade chip. Schwarber will probably be good, but he'll likely be a really good trade chip too (though he may eat himself into a DH position). But the rest of the draft has been bizarre. I would have imagined a bunch of lottery tickets but this just looks like saving money on the draft this year.
  15. So these are the players the cubs saved their money for: Jacob Steele 6'1" 180lbs DOB: 07/11/95 | Scouting video Not since 1999, when the Braves took Matt Butler in the second round, has a Mississippi high school pitcher signed out of the first five rounds of the Draft. A lefty with a loose, quick arm, Steele should end that drought this June. Steele baffled scouts at the East Coast Professional Showcase last summer, when he ran his fastball into the low 90s but later dipped to the mid-80s. He has done a better job of holding his velocity this spring, working at 88-92 mph and reaching back for 94-95 on occasion. He's better when he throws with less effort in his delivery and gets more quality life on his heater. Steele's curveball used to stick out more for its shape than its velocity, but he has boosted it from the upper 60s to the low 70s as a senior. His changeup has some movement, but the Southern Mississippi recruit tips it off by slowing his arm speed and doesn't trust it much. Though he's athletic, his lack of size and true command could have him destined for the bullpen.
  16. QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 07:06 PM) F really? WTF were we supposed to pick? BPA you stupid f***ing mouth breathing Neanderthals. Read the article.
  17. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 07:04 PM) Thought I missed something. I forget who, but a poster last night said the Sox already had their lawyers on it. It was Rock, so the exact poster you'd want to have made that claim ( or bucket, as well)
  18. I've already mapped out all possibilities: Warriors trade Harrison Barnes and 2 future #1s for Kevin Love Celtics trade Phil Pressey and Brandon Bass, 2 future #1s for Kevin Love Lakers ask for Kevin Love and receive him Nick Friedell interviews Gar Forman after: "We like our team." Nick Friedell: But who would we trade for!
  19. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 07:51 PM) Sounds like the Jay Bilas scouting report. Wingspan off the charts.
  20. Good build. Has tools. He'll put it together or he won't.
