  1. WOW I did not expect Marlins to take kolek!
  2. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 11:18 PM) Wow. People are going to be upset if isn't taken by the Sox. BOo, don't.
  3. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 11:09 PM) There hasn't been any talk of Aiken going 2 right? So we should want kolek , Rodon here right Sorry Melissa.
  4. I think I'm going to stay out of this thread.
  5. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 11:08 PM) Aiken to Houston per Law and Manuel Boo. suspense ruined.
  6. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 11:07 PM) Yup. I'm just waiting for someone to come in and bug me right when the Sox are on the clock. I was so pleased. Was going to bike home and watch DVR, but I'll chill here til 3
  7. For those at work, this is streaming at mlb.com
  8. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 10:46 PM) He's a giant. And he's all loaded up with awesome. IF he develops, a Sale-Kolek-Quintana top 3 is mighty fierce. Kolek won't be ready for 3-4 years. We have no idea what our rotation looks like then.
  9. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 11:21 PM) I love everything Rodon says. I feel like his rep is bad but he's a smart kid. Everything is honest, makes sense and with just the right amount of cockiness/confidence. Reminds of a little bit more lively version of Carlos Quentin. His team rode him hard to try and make playoffs and I think he did everything possible to help them win vs. himself.
  10. ugh. I'm gonna miss this damn selection. I hate work.
  11. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 09:32 PM) Not sure who he was talking about but it's not the Sox. They'll be taking one of those 4 pitchers, no doubt. Right, no doubt it's not the sox, but I'd doubt it's Marlins or Astros. He'd probably say top 3 if it was. I mean, maybe twins, after months of us hearing Gordon, are now looking at someone else.
  12. I mean, if I was going to guess any switching things up I'd bet it's the cubs.
  13. Houston's secrecy at #1 does make a more fun draft, I'd say.
  14. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 09:47 PM) It would be so baseball if Tyler Beede still had the best career of all of them, and nobody is talking about him in the top 3 today. Well, he has the tools. They all have the tools.
  15. I just find it so bizarre that 4 hrs before the draft the consensus on Kolek's secondary stuff is below average when all I'm hearing before was that it was rarely used but above average.
  16. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 09:16 PM) There is no ace to pair with Sale in the draft. Its not like the other drafts where you have a pretty good idea of what you are getting, none of the top 5 pitchers in this draft are even guarantees to remain as starters. Yes, those surefire previous mlb drafts that happened in the past.
  17. Is Jackson the overwhelming top bat?
  18. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 07:45 PM) He's my #1 now. I liked him before but he's Coop's pick, so I go with Coop. So why? His main draw his his polish and "knowing how to pitch". Good 93-94 fastball, tops out at 97. 4 pitches for strikes. Just because he is 3 inches taller? Lefty? What is the reason why Nola is trash in your book but Aiken is a high reward guy?
  19. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 07:37 PM) Those numbers are against a bunch of players of which the vast majority will never, ever, ever play in the big leagues. All of these top draft picks are men among boys on the fields they play on. That's been the case their entire lives. The stuff is what you look at. Just a quick google search, on Gausman: "Gausman, who is a lanky 6-foot-3 and 190 pounds, has a mid-90s fastball with movement (specifically in on righties) that can hit triple digits, a low-80s changeup (that’s a 15 mile per hour difference relative to his fastball) with a sharp downward drop, and a mid-80s slider that also misses bats. As those five walks indicate, he has complete control of all three pitches and challenges hitters in the zone, working primarily in the lower half. He has also received high marks for mixing his pitches well and for his overall mound demeanor." If Nola sounded like that I wouldn't be against the pick at all. Out of curiosity, do you like Aiken?
  20. Can someone get me the EXACT percentage of Aiken to the Cubs please?
