  1. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 26, 2014 -> 05:49 AM) Why the f*** would you trade a first round draft pick for Omer Asik? Good god is that stupid. NBA GMs never fail to baffle me Eh, let's see what protections are on it.
  2. So if bulls sign melo there is like no chance mirotic can be signed. Really the only way I see him hers is if bulls strike out on all options. Edit: guys money is a real thing. Aflallo makes 6 mill, that means Gibson is gone and butler if you have Mel.
  3. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 24, 2014 -> 04:18 PM) I don't think Bosh opts out. I'm inclined to think that his value has declined significantly due to his reduced role on the Heat. Is he going to get over $20 million a year in FA? That would surprise me at this point. Right, and wade even more so. That's why I'm surprised. I thought they'd all opt in for one more year before this.
  4. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 24, 2014 -> 03:12 PM) Quietly I keep thinking the Bulls are much more in on Love then anyone expects. If you get Love then you still have ability to do some finagling if another superstar wants to join (as long as if you can get Love without giving up all of your tradeable assets). People will say, what about cap space, but in this era, if you have 2 guys that want to come, you can find ways to move contracts, imo / ultimately get the other team to agree to some form of sign and trade. I agree. At worst you have two 25 year old stars to build around.
  5. Just realizing how bad the east will be if lebron leaves. If rose stays healthy that's like auto finals appearance.
  6. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 24, 2014 -> 02:50 PM) They did everything right in 2010 too but missed out and got blamed for it. This is why many bulls fans would prefer the team stop trying and planning for fa perios four years apart for free agency periods and trade. Love should be priority number one. With Thompson not being included, getting Afflalo to package with taj is a good deal. Even if he's not traded this summer, they need to keep at it until the point where Love says there is no way he's signing this season.
  7. Yesterday I was driving and listening to all the rumors, this time, I actually think the Bulls management is doing all possible to get one of the big acquisitions this year. My favorite non superstar offseason would be somehow getting Aflallo AND still getting number 8 from sac. Aflallo /McDermott, mirotic and keeping MDJ is actually a lot more shooting to the team.
  8. I am shocked by that. Man things get a bit more fun though don't they?
  9. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 23, 2014 -> 08:18 PM) Rose-scrap heap-Anthony-Love-Noah. Still have to wonder if the bench would be good enough. Anthony isn't happening. Love would give you two stars that are young. You'd have time to build bench.
  10. Mainly due to contract but also due to fit, Taj is a much more attractive piece than Lee, who has 2 years left.
  11. QUOTE (scs787 @ Jun 21, 2014 -> 07:54 PM) If not there is simply nothing they could have done, but I'm sure we'll still hear it. LOL it already begins. This is why bulls front office behaves the way they do.
  12. Klay is not yet offered. Proposed asking prices are not final deals.
  13. BTW Marc Steins most recent Love article did not even mention a Bulls. This is such a hack organization, the only difference between the Bulls and Atlanta Hawks was the 2008 lucky draft.
  14. If the bulls wanted to land superstars they could land them. They don't want to.
  15. I guess France? The French have looked by far the best to me.
  16. Afflalo is not part of a melo plan. He is the plan.
  17. No, the bulls perpetually afraid of total failure, will always take the road more traveled. Their management under Jerry will be just good enough in a horrendous conference to never get fired. Just bad enough to waste a good shot at a ring. Pathetic.
  18. Taj is old, he's not that good of a trading chip, and we are asking team to take on ful salary. In those situations you get not much, you especially don't get a high draft pick in a deep draft that teams tanked for.
  19. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 20, 2014 -> 10:08 PM) Cap f***ed and devoid of first rounders due to dealing them all for garbage Are you telling me Bargnani was not the key to their playoff run? They didn't make the playoffs?
  20. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 20, 2014 -> 09:34 PM) I had thought so but wasn't sure. The expiring pick part makes a little more sense cause of the funkiness of the CBA there is some value in having Boozer on the books to create potential flexibility / options for them to land another piece. Also, next season Knicks will have 20 million in cap, getting boozer allows them to have a starter without a longterm commitment in cash, i.e. they'll have maximum flexibility with lots of money next FA season.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 20, 2014 -> 09:45 PM) I don't think that if everything had been done perfectly as described on gold tablets handed down from an omnipotent deity that it would have turned out much better than this. When you hit a hornet's next with a baseball bat it doesn't matter whether the bat is wooden or aluminum, the results are likely to involve stinging. This is how I feel. When you see what has happened from the Arab Spring, and how much effort and violence occurs as the countries try and govern, which of those convinces any American of "Well if the US was involved it would be a well-established secure democracy!".
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 20, 2014 -> 08:46 PM) That would still leave the Bulls with this year's first round pick, Mirotic, Gibson, Butler etc. Subtracting Melo for Boozer? My god. Talk about too good to be true. Tax-wise, would they still need to trade butler?
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 20, 2014 -> 08:47 PM) IIRC that sign and trade was almost entirely done for salary reasons, but the details escape me. I don't remember either, it was pre-2011 bargaining agreement that gave home team 5th year so I don't remember it anymore. Maybe it was to get bird rights for him or something?
