  1. Remember when we used to target underrated, blocked players in other orgs on the way up rather than players on their way down
  2. They are basically going to make him active to "mess" with the jets, have him out there on some weird plays where he lines up at WR, and we win 6-3
  3. he's a sinkerballer
  4. If he's a groundball specialist, him giving up a lot of hits in AFL isn't as interesting as if the hits are ground balls. Not sure any of us figured Tanner Banks would see time this year or when Aaron Bummer jumped up, hence a pop-up. I wouldn't be surprised considering sox love sinker ballers in their bullpen under hahn if a guy that throws strikes and has a power sinker makes it
  5. my prediction is heyman will leak that the teams that spend the most will all be in the mix for a boras client.
  6. from an espn guesstimates article: Gonzalez: Cody Bellinger, Yankees, one year, $22 million. If Bellinger is only going to accept a one-year deal -- and that's the plan, his agent, Scott Boras, told The Athletic -- then a nice bidding war is going to play out, and a team might have to kick in a lucrative 2024 player option as a sweetener. Bellinger needs to go to a team that possesses the resources to give him the best chance to recapture who he was. A short porch in right field helps, too. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/35047316/mlb-2022-23-free-agency-predictions-judge-degrom-more
  7. It's possible with Simas but I think he should continue trying out as a starter. But he's at that velo range where if he instead goes to 96 mph he could whittle down his arsenal and might be really effective.
  8. I saw this a few weeks ago. We desperately need a pop-up bullpen guy. I'd say Declan Cronin may be there: Theo Denlinger probably showed the best swing and miss stuff in bham but is older so maybe is just part that. 49ks in 38 IP. Sammy Peralta too. Maybe Bilous makes the switch to BP and his stuff plays up enough for his horrendous control. In Charlotte, I have for years hoped that Andrew Perez could put it together. He looks the part. His results are horrible. Maybe we get some pitching dust sprinkled over him this offseason.

This franchise will be so much better off seeing if sosa/romy can fill this role. And even batting right handed, I bet they can come close to Frazier's 84 wRC+ last year in the AL. Plus Romy/Sosa come with some much better power possibilities which this team desperately needs.
  10. Ideally Yeolki Cespedes comes in with some improvement and can be a 4th outfielder. He looks like a good option defensively, just need some offense.
  11. honestly so did montgomery. Felt like both kept missing the holes and running right into their lineman. I still see zero reason to sign montgomery when the rb class looks like it does.
  12. Gallo has really started to slow down. Could probably still be plus in our corner outfields. It's not a bad idea if you think the shift ending will help gallo. His whiff rate was insane though but he does still hit the crap out of the ball.
  13. I'm saying one is a free agent, so it may be the case that a James Outman is more attainable than the salary Bellinger gets, it's no sure thing, and may come at the cost of a Major League asset we'd need to offset or a strong minor league package. The dodgers outfield isn't particularly crowded While it's true the dodgers are "giving" up on Bellinger, the context is that his MVP season made his price tag in arbitration quite high while he is still working through issues, and the Dodgers are in a position with their slaaries where they don't need to take the risk on a bounce back. There's nothing wrong with taking a chance on younger guys just Bellinger is pretty young and has a lot of the qualities you've mentioned. He may have a heavy market right now, or we may just be hearing Boras' b.s.
  14. This Zach Wilson situation looks rough. He's having a terrible year but now it's going to combine with getting ripped to shreds by ny jets fans and media. Hope for his sake he starts putting something together but that "falling away' on every throw thing did not look good.
  15. Well one is a free agent and the other will be wanted by more than one team and you've called this farm trash. I think we should get Julio Rodriguez. Guy seems really good. Way better than Bellinger.
  16. Conforto failed @fathom’s vibe test and quite honestly it has been a pretty good indicator.
  17. All this stuff makes sense on its face, but I balk a bit at the actual guys. I just think we are talking about a very questionable clubhouse at this point. You subtract Abreu, and in to fill the void is Mike Clevinger - guy who lies to his team going out on the quarantine year during a 60 game season while playing for the playoffs including getting on the plane and having clubhouse turn against him - and Mike Conforto - guy who during the most important few months of his life injures himself "training" (at a bachelor party). And Lux...he's fine. His best quality is that he's left handed.
  18. $2.16M for money but not all are available so you are talking about holes elsewhere or prospects. James Outman is 25, Stone Garrett is 26, Bellinger is only 27. Outman also struck out 150 times in between AA and AAA, that's about the same swing-and-miss as Bellinger in the majors. Garrett hits RH. He also is good defensively and is fast. He's left handed. That doesn't sound like bad money after bad. It's risky during a contention window due to the lower guarantee of production, but that is the case with the others.
  19. I actually don’t know lol.
  20. Man it is astounding to realize that bellinger would have led our team in HRs last year off his bad year. I do think given the LH batter issue we kinda need to take shots like this
  21. Still pissed they didn’t name him hitting coach mid season
  22. Yeah sorry could probably add some instructions there but so long as you add the salaries in the cell adjacent it should calculate it correctly on the team payroll
  23. Cespedes also doesn't look like a great hitter but his defense has been strong and perhaps adds some pop off the bench. And who are we kidding, wouldn't be surprised if Engel makes his way back.
  24. He may have elevated a bit but BA has him ranked 15th and generally considers him a 4th outfielder but to me they have him in a similar place as Kwan. He lacks the contact/bat to ball skills, has power to make upa nd LH with power is something we can and should take a chance on. I think maybe Friedman's extreme long term look may see a likelihood of a QO pick back with Giolito.
