The Astros had a lower payroll than the white Sox this year.

This is a bummer, I wonder who RG, if it’s schofield or Leatherwood

I would buy a 60 game package if this happened

White Sox interested in Athletics Catcher Sean Murphy

We're going to talk past each other just because of all the places to put my energy on stuff the sox have done, grandal is low. From an optimal team building standpoint, to me he's a shiny hood ornament when a team is already put together, not a foundational piece. He provided great MLB offense from the catcher position, not great offense for a catcher, great offense. Should have buoyed the sox even more if they could ever have competency from DH (now eloy was, in 2nd half). Everything else from sox regarding C development has been abysmal. One of the reasons I'm so bullish on carlos perez is the sox are so bad at scouting their own players it's very likely he is a hall of famer. -

This year I just used fangraphs crowdsource salaries and some of spotrac's market value to fill in the FA salaries. Then used a pretty simple $2.5M for smaller FAs. Probably overpaying, but, whatever you can adjust. If there is an issue with sox team salaries, I don't care, just change it on your own.

And I don’t think the Sox make the playoffs in 2021 without him. -

There should be optimism. The front office that thought Rodon was hopelessly injured is now searching for catcher replacements for Grandal. If anything that means grandal AS selection, -

so yes, when a great player becomes available, it is good to check in. -
It’s definitely possible. But he’s still a positive CFer on defense, he is a good RFer. He’s got a long road to eventual DH, he’s not signing pujols. Some players are just exceptions, and I think he is. But who knows, he could lose just a little bat speed and suddenly is just Chris carter.

You joke but this is literally what most of the board thinks. They also banned selecting high schoolers because of Courtney Hawkins. Colson may have broke that fever at least.

I think people are wrong about judge. That was insane pressure last year. He has handled CF, some everything asked of him. He is a unicorn for his size. Also incredibly nice and gracious. Whatever team gets him will be lucky. For baseball, he should be a yankee for life.

I just forever think getting a great player does more than balance. Mainly because I think the internal players that could fill some of these holes are underrated by even our f.o. Looking back at ‘21, amazing how much burger/sheets buoyed those teams. When the right player comes, I’m all about getting them. But the real solutions were going back in time and trading for trea turner, sign Harper, etc. None of these guys do it for me. Sox won’t get Murphy, and it’s not ideal, but better to me than pining for kolton Wong or some s%*#. -

He’s a great player so it’s better to add him than some 2 WAR LF -
Real question isn't luis gonzalez, it's Trayce thompson
-
He's an outfielder so he has some positive momentum to his name

I would not pay conforto anything more than league min, personally.

Outman is going to end up terrible and dick allen will never let me live it down

I read his question as being about like, where do you tell them to put the lump sum first, and yeah I think there are special accounts that exist for that and you'd first want to get your house in order with a wealth management lawyer and accountant before even claiming it. -
https://www.fangraphs.com/players/james-outman/24770/stats?position=OF OUTMAN! OUTMAN! OUT MAN! OUTTTTTMANNNNNN The people want the sox to trade for outman I'm hearing.

feels so much like a 2015/16 offseason to me. The floor of this team is much higher, but last year we also know it's not enough. Still haggling over which B- free agent to take over 2b/OF and get 2.5 war from and how much improvement that will be, etc. etc. Said it before, said it again, I'd rather make this an eat s%*# year, where sox look for other underperforming players at the same or similar positions as their stars and try to tough love thru competition these guys ways into uncovering their potential. Because otherwise, it's all window dressing.

Feel like he'll will this into existence and call them a darkhorse.

They have a lot of money. It’s crazy when orgs don’t make the avoidance of paying an injured player the number one priority. If he doesn’t accept they get an asset. Voila
