  1. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 17, 2013 -> 05:13 PM) I dont know, I see it just like Dallas. High scoring offense, not so good of a defense. The eagles just gave up 48 to the Vikings, WITHOUT AP. Thats pretty nuts Except the Eagles won't be stupid enough to stop running the ball.
  2. I've really enjoyed seeing a bunch of new active posters who don't yet know the general site stances on players and have the balls to post bad ideas.
  3. Well, steelers have been playing a lot better recently. That said, the eagles just seem like the WORST matchup for the bears.
  4. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 17, 2013 -> 05:01 PM) True, but they were still reeling from losing Melton and Collins. Ratliff has really made his presence felt since he started playing. I'm not even sure Paea played that game.
  5. You know what would have been a fun narrative had the last two seasons not been mired in injury? Remember how we were like "nobody will take Asik in a trade with his huge last year contract". That didn't pan out at all. Went to Bulls game last night. Was amazing how Teague continues to get outplayed by journeyman. You can tell the rest of the players don't have patience for him. Deng continues to be only player worth a damn, and is doing whatever possible to score. Despite how awkward his dribble is it's amazing he doesn't get picked off more. But it was the perfect game for me. Entertaining late (miserable for 3 quarters though), still a loss, but with a sweet 55 foot three pointer.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 10:02 PM) We'd be in that place with Connor around as well. he isn't a long term solution. He is a temporary fix. Indeed. I'm not criticizing the deal, I think this is a fantastic deal for sox and a move we have to make. I was only responding to the "What the hell was Kevin Towers thinking!?" posts. But this deal will be much less impressive if he ends up having to move to DH, LF or 1b.
  7. QUOTE (TomPickle @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 09:53 PM) I don't know if this is entirely true. If he's hitting well, but a bit of a butcher at 3B it's possible he could slide over to 1B and Abreu could DH in 2014 and on. Obviously that wouldn't be the best outcome, but just because he can't cut it at third defensively doesn't guarantee he has no value going forward. Not no value, but considerably less value. Like, maybe not enough value that someone would give you their starting Closer value. If he didn't hack it at 3b Towers may have felt this was highest value he'd get. I'm not saying I love moves AZ is making but that's the thought process.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 09:51 PM) In a year the Sox will have the DH position to kick around with if someone like Davidson doesn't work out at 3rd. They also may have LF depending on how Dayan does. I guess, but then we are right back to trying to plug in a long term solution at 3b with no prospects.
  9. QUOTE (Wanne @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 09:43 PM) HOLY CRAP this is a great trade!!!! The young talent that Hahn is acquiring is ridiculous! As for Davidson like someone said earlier I was kind of hoping for him or Owings last year. Kind of makes me wonder wtf Towers is doing tho?..... LOOOOOVE this!!! Frankly Towers may have felt like Davidson wouldn't be able to hack it at 3b and would lose value without a position. We really need him to hold his own at 3b.
  10. I'd love for someone to make a summary at the start of spring training of what Hahn inherited and all of his moves to get to this point. Listen, very likely not all of A. Garcia, L Garcia, Eaton and Davidson will work out. But if some of them do, that's 1 less position you'd have to fill with Free Agency. Because that was basically our only option.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 08:20 PM) I'd say I want a roster of Jo Noahs, the problem would be about 8 of them would be out with injuries at any one time. You know, Joakim Noah is not the first 6'10 or taller guy to be plagued with injuries. That's kind of the norm.
  12. Here's what you do, you focus on the nacho helmets.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 07:27 PM) You'd have to assume at least one of them has to be moved. Davidson has had a full season at AAA so it's hard to justify putting him there again (even though he's a bit young), but you can't carry all 3 and there has to be a backup IF somewhere. Heck, it would make sense for this roster to move both of them. But with this year shaping up to just be an improving year, would it hurt to wait until June to move him up and delay his Arb clock?
  14. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 07:26 PM) Dump Kepp, Keep Gillaspe. I'd keep Gillaspie, it is likely that Davidson could still use some seasoning at AAA and why rush.
  15. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 07:24 PM) This team is going to be exciting to watch! Exactly, I'm pumped for this season now. NOT the case 2 months ago when our pitch was "But Abreu!"
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 07:11 PM) I had no issue with trading Addy but I wanted the right return. This may be just a little less than I was hoping for but it also is at a position where this franchise could seriously benefit from an upgrade. He's also exceptionally young and, assuming he makes the roster this year (which I'm not sure about right now) he's under team control through 2020. I think this again may reflect the new premium for power. The one thing that worries me is I saw a quote from Towers earlier this year saying they needed to add more powers to their corners. Why would he say that with this kid in the wings? And then he's traded, so I wonder if he had kind of soured with their scouts.
  17. Let's hope we get lucky (this organization deserves to be lucky IMO) and these players pan out. Hahn will have rebuilt this team with ML ready players that we'll have cost controlled. This will allow us to plug in gaps with FA.
  18. Wow. Edit: From what I'm reading the season to look at with him was when he dominated AA as a 21 year old.
  19. Oh man, I forgot about Egwu. Missouri is struggling with rebounding with JWIII being the only good rebounder. That's going to be a major painpoint Saturday. Damn I'm excited. Last good game before the slugfest conference games of the SEC.
  20. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 06:29 PM) Conte has been less noticeable since Ratliff started playing, but that Gordon TD shouldnt have happened at the end of the game. He let Gordon get behind him AND failed to make a play on the ball/or knock Gordon out of bounds He's just so annoying to watch. And frankly (though he also had mistakes) I thought at least Steltz came in and made plays vs. run.
  21. I'm going to game tonight. I got these tix a month ago. Was so pumped to see Rose back in person and hear him announced. Fast forward a month and I'm going to watch a game with Jeff Teague starting and being backed up by DJ Augustin. Cruel, cruel world.
  22. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 05:03 PM) I still think Packers win the division but Bears defense should look considerably different by week 1 of the playoffs. Ratfliff should be closer to 100%, Briggs will be back and Peanut will be back. Those are three difference makers who are major step-ups from the stiffs that have been playing for them. I'm actually not sure Bowman has been a step down. We do severely miss the forced fumbles though.
  23. I was going to start talking up Jordan Clarkson before his pretty bad game yesterday. But, Mizzou's trio of Clarkson, Brown and Ross are doing the majority of our scoring. But it will be fun to see Tate and Clark go at each other. Clark hasn't had a game as good as some of Tates yet but he is a tough player and shows a lot of flashes. His hops are insane.
