  1. I would love LaVine. Good energy, good shooting, but I wonder how he'll translate.
  2. Don't get me wrong, you can win a championship with Deng, but you can't win a championship with Deng as your second most high paid player unless you got huge value out of some rookie deal. Bulls don't have that and likely won't.
  3. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 05:05 PM) The argument is really "I don't want to sign a goaltender to X years for X money because and would rather play mix and match goalies because you can win with a lot of them, and not a ton of guys stay consistent for a really long time." I'm on that side of the argument with Steve. Grabbed Niemi, won a cup. Crawford, won a cup. Raanta = next Niemi? Who knows, maybe. It's easier to find answers in goal nowadays, a decent amount of teams have been able to do that, including the Wings when they were winning. That was the Bowman model. Stack the team, don't commit long term and big money to a goalie, and figure it out as you go. Which is why I was really surprised they signed Crawford long term. Right now you could grab a decent men's league goalie and stick him on the Hawks and they'd win. I'm not trying to take anything away from Crawford, just talking about the model and the thought process behind it. I hope like hell Crawford turns into Patrick Roy at this point since he's signed long term. You have to wonder if what we thought Bowman's guiding principles are were rather just him dealing with constraints. With those largely removed, we see that he does have a preference to reward players who performed with long-term deals. We'll see if it works with more titles, but it seems like it will hamstring hawks flexibility.
  4. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 04:50 PM) I think the Sox will compete this season, but pretty much everything has to go absolutely 100 percent right (and then some) for them to contend. I think it may be similar to 10 season. Slow start, then have a really hot June to get us into contention, but ultimately don't have enough guns to produce yet. #prediction.
  5. LOL. The last 40 or so days of the Bulls has got to be one of the worst stretches ever.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 04:23 PM) I'm not going to criticize just yet, but I will add this...if there's ever a time to be aggressive...it's now. There's literally no benefit to waiting if you can move any of these guys for an expiring and a draft pick or something similar. The NBA trade market doesn't usually improve with time. It can if someone gets hurt, but that's it. I agree. I do not like anything right now. Although, board, I did just have a dream last night where Milwaukee, in their "dream to be an 8th" seed thing, traded for Deng and gave us their 1st round pick. I was so pumped when I woke up.
  7. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 03:31 PM) You're thinking like Bulls management. After December whatever when newly signed players can be dealt, most GMs consider it open season and work to improve their chances at winning a championship. Garpax sits on their collective, aged hands and does nothing praying for Lord knows what. They need to deal Deng for Waiters and expiring salary and laugh at the badness. Farbeit from me to defend them, but this is a bit melodramatic. It has been 15 days, there has been 1 trade, the other most likely to go player got pulled back for who knows how long. If most of the other GMs are actively trying to win a championship they are doing a terrible job.
  8. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 04:50 AM) Right They had a lot of depth, including minor league depth. We don't. And they have several hitters who are just better than any of ours can reasonably be expected to be. Let's win 80 this year, horde prospects, and then make another move next July and winter (and maybe another one this winter, De Aza). Exactly. I think we are going to see us overestimate the offensive production from the young guys, and we'll likely see a bad first month or two from Abreu (thinking of Cespedes). That may put us a bit behind in April and May but I'd like to see the team finish strong for once.
  9. For as long as Teague is on the team, I'll hold out some hope they are not going all in for this year. There's also a part of me that thinks the trade market just isn't really in full swing yet.
  10. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 12:15 AM) 6 of their 9 wins came with Rose in the lineup. Since then they are 3-11 (3-12 after tonight) with losses to the Raptors, Bucks, Magic, Jazz and Hornets (without Davis). They can't score, have zero spacing on offense, and can't finish at the rim. They're bad, bad, bad. Yes but we have to hope this is a average stretch for them and not a BAD stretch because if they have a good stretch they will suddenly be a 5th seed.
  11. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Dec 19, 2013 -> 11:49 PM) It wouldn't be if the Bulls would just trade Deng and would have left Teague and James as the only PGs on the roster. http://www.nba.com/standings/team_record_c...ew_Std_Cnf.html
  12. I knew Teague was playing horrendously, but this is one case where the eye test doesn't do it justice just how bad he is.
  13. Board Question: Better awful Bulls guard: Marquis Teague or Khalid El-Amin Player A (per 36 minutes stats) = FG FGA FG% 3P 3PA 3P% 2P 2PA 2P% FT FTA FT% ORB DRB TRB AST STL BLK TOV PF PTS 4.4 12.0 .370 1.1 3.2 .333 3.3 8.7 .383 2.2 2.8 .778 0.8 2.3 3.1 5.6 1.8 0.1 2.1 3.8 12.1 Player B (per 36 minutes stats) = FG FGA FG% 3P 3PA 3P% 2P 2PA 2P% FT FTA FT% ORB DRB TRB AST STL BLK TOV PF PTS 2.5 10.2 .246 0.2 1.3 .125 2.3 8.8 .264 1.3 2.0 .667 0.2 2.3 2.5 4.5 0.3 0.7 2.3 3.3 6.5
  14. That was incredibly long. But seriously. It is going to be so hard to miss the playoffs this year.
  15. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Dec 19, 2013 -> 06:05 PM) He needs to be playing 35 mpg for the Bulls this year...and then they can get rid of him. I mean, it is remarkable to be outplayed so badly by a journeyman point guard that your coach doesn't even want to SUB that guy out. If I was said journeyman PG though, I'd sign to play for thibs in a heartbeat.
  16. Best of luck to Floyd. He was frustrating but he gave us a lot of innings and came through in 08 pretty well.
  17. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 17, 2013 -> 09:39 PM) He's Aaron Rodgers. He'll dominate. Yeah I think this too. But Pitt passing O has been a lot better, and better running O. They could hang with em.
  18. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 17, 2013 -> 10:58 PM) "He is currently the pitching coach for the Camden Riversharks in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Widger Sign him up. I don't know the exact advanced metrics but I'm pretty sure sox were 40 games better with him in lineup.
  19. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 17, 2013 -> 07:02 PM) Everyone should ignore this. This place is open for discussion and i don't give a f*** what the overall site stance is. I want people to post freely and not just get blasted with stupid points. If Samardzija wasn't going to generate such a costly return (in terms of trade), it would be foolish to not consider him given the big arm he possesses. If you've been here for 10 years or 1 day...you deserve to be treated with respect on this site. I was commending him. You have 100 or so core posters that know where everyone's stance is. Sometimes it feels like there's not point to start a thread that isn't news, and news doesn't come very often.
  20. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 17, 2013 -> 05:13 PM) I dont know, I see it just like Dallas. High scoring offense, not so good of a defense. The eagles just gave up 48 to the Vikings, WITHOUT AP. Thats pretty nuts Except the Eagles won't be stupid enough to stop running the ball.
  21. I've really enjoyed seeing a bunch of new active posters who don't yet know the general site stances on players and have the balls to post bad ideas.
  22. Well, steelers have been playing a lot better recently. That said, the eagles just seem like the WORST matchup for the bears.
  23. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 17, 2013 -> 05:01 PM) True, but they were still reeling from losing Melton and Collins. Ratliff has really made his presence felt since he started playing. I'm not even sure Paea played that game.
