QUOTE (Fantl916 @ Dec 28, 2011 -> 05:16 PM) I'm not buying the "dominant rotation" part, but I will say that kw has been adept recently at finding good starting pitching. IMO, if all works out we have a couple #2s (danks/sale/nestor) and a couple #3/4 types (Floyd/Humber/) with backend guys in Stewart/axelrod/etc. The prob with what we currently have is the timelines don't mesh. By the time Nestor is established in the bigs Floyd might be gone. Sale has talent for sure, but can it translate to being a starter (a lessor worry of mine) and can he stay healthy over 180+ innings (huge worry of mine with his delivery). Also it's gonna take sale until 2013 to pitch more than 160 innings ap in the immediate future you're looking at a hard innings cap. Danks is already #2/3 and Floyd is an solid #3, but unless someone busts out above their rough expectation (depending on who and what ya read) this org lacks win now pitchers and lacks bigtime prospects for the coming years outside sale and Nestor which isn't a huge problem... BUT... If one of those two doesn't pan out this org will be hurting in the quality sp dept. Excellent post.

Jesus. Not arguing about this. You are right, bodies are built to be indestructible to wear.
-
Yeah, no. You can be the most conditioned athlete in the world and that doesn't mean your body won't even wear down. These players are going full speed into seven foot 290lb monsters. It doesn't matter how many wind sprints you do for that. Your body needs rest.

yeah, it does kind of suck though b/c i'm realizing that watching basketball every night is much less exciting when they will be tired as hell. Right now the defenses are crap or offenses unprepared, and soon during the 7 games in 11 days stretches the teams will look lethargic.

2011-2012 NCAA Basketball Thread

Nebraska basketball is the most awful team to play against. It will be a slow plodding game. You won't beat them by a lot b/c they won't let you have the ball a lot of possessions. I refuse to watch them play basketball. -
1) it's clear that GS has their number. The bulls can't resist playing that up tempo game and we can't keep up or seem to slow it down. 2) It seems thibidou is trying to run the offense away from rose a lot more. At the moment it doesn't look like everyone is on the same page. I also think there seems to be a tendency with some of the guys to want to show off what they worked on in the summer, and a lot of that is 1-on-1. They haven't had a chance to see if it's successful in the NBA live action games, and I think that's taking away from the flow of our offense. I'm surprised that our team, which has been largely the saame for 3 years, is the team that looks so out of synch, but west coast trips have always had the tendency to do that to us.

Darren Sproles has been an incredible pickup for them. edit: note to san diego, if you hear that the saints are interested in a player you have who is exploring free agency, sign that player! Cut someone else you think is good that probably sucks!

It was still cool, and it's been a "new nfl" for a bit now and that record still stood for 28 years? That's pretty amazing.
-
I don't know, I think what we have coming up sunday is worse.
-
Yes...all poor people are alcoholics on welfare.
-
okay...go on?
-
If you all treated this as harshly as you've treated the small # of voter fraud cases concerning poor minorities...you would pass laws trying to strip all indiana politicians of their right to vote (but more realistically, throw high barrier obstacles to affluent white people voting).

I like Bell too. I liked barber too. But I like them a lot more as 5-7 carry guys than 20-25.
-
I agree, we should just make up the rules as we go along.
-
do you guys think this is the worst offense ever trotted out on an nfl field? QB Josh McCown RB Bell WR Hester WR Bennett? is he playing TE spaeth bears oline.

Flash, get her a vinturi. I'm going to club lucky for new years eve.

21 former players sue NFL over concussions
bmags replied to Middle Buffalo's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I doubt they really did know the long lasting effects of concussions. And all the protections now are not retroactive. You still have players from the 70s and 80s blowing their heads off because they can't take the pain anymore. That's not "just business". -
Webber said that the perkins' reputation among the players is that he's vastly overrated on one-on-one defense by the media.

2012 Cuban signees thread Cespedes/Soler/Concepcion

Glad to see we're doing the "x team will totally regress this year. The division will be terrible, if we can just get to 88 wins..." -
QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 24, 2011 -> 03:54 PM) Watching NBAtv preview and CWebb reading my mind on Kendrick Perkins. Ha, I watched that yesterday too. It makes sense. You can probablly be a lot more aggressive when you have KG guarding the rim behind you. But, no he didn't look that great last year for the thunder albeit he was injured.

I"m pretty amped up. Also, good to see Chuck Hayes was cleared.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 22, 2011 -> 06:38 PM) Alpha restated my point - why do ANYTHING? Why say "i'm sorry you lost a crazy evil father who murdered millions of his own people?" Is that gesture really going to stop nuclear war (quite the leap btw)? Is it really going to repair relations? This, coupled with Carters "oh that whole unprovoked attack on the South that killed four people is just a friendly reminder that their nation deserves respect." Come on. Jenks, You have a very proud family with nuclear weapons that, clearly, by nature of how they run their country, are completely irrational. If that is the case, and you want them to stop being so insular and stupid, why on earth would you insult their leader during mourning? You aren't talking to your friends, or your coworkers, you are talking to crazy people with atomic weapons.

And guess what, the USPS gives them a sweetheart deal.
