QUOTE (dasox24 @ Nov 30, 2011 -> 10:41 PM) Hey Mizzou fans, yall should definitely consider making the trip to Knoxville next Fall. 11/10. Mark it on your calendars. Where is this schedule? I'd be more likely to make a trip to nashville, sorry to say. -

QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 30, 2011 -> 07:21 PM) The University actually came out and said they were very pleased with what he said, which I found to be quite surprising. I think they were referring to his remarks on sunday where he was contrite for implying that this accuser was doing it for the money. But then he comes out with his arrogance showcase last night.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 30, 2011 -> 02:12 AM) Winter's Bone? Right. I'm talking everyday poor that also isn't a focus on the nobility of being poor in that condescending way. Even with that, her character obviously had an education and knack for creativity (the bakery)...that would clearly separate her from the chronically poor/underemployed, like former GM/Ford/Chrysler assembly line workers in Michigan whose jobs have all been outsourced over the last 20 years. Pursuit of HappYness would also be close to this idea of portraying a poor but hard-working family fairly realistically...although obviously it has the Hollywood-ized happy ending. Winter's Bone, nice choice.

Boeheim should be fired for his attrocious media appearances. They've been insensitive and inappropriate.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 30, 2011 -> 12:36 AM) I understand the personnel is not the best in the WR department, but we see many examples week in week out where he totally outsmarts himself and goes away from the true weapon of the offense, his running backs. He ran Forte 12 times and Barber 10 times against Oakland. If the quarterback is rattled and throwing stupid interceptions, and as you say the wide receivers suck, then why run a pass happy offense? And it isn't as if this is the first time he pulled that s*** and it cost the Bears. Right, but a pass happy offense would be fine on a different team. When he's reigned in, I think he does a pretty good job. But that said, Tice knows a lot about blocking schemes and has been a HC before, I see no reason why he couldn't do better focusing just on offense.
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 29, 2011 -> 11:23 PM) I dont know that Tice would be a good OC, he has really only been an offensive line coach and head coach his entire career. And if the personnel that Martz needs to succeed is all HOF-worthy offensive players, then thats just too bad. I am not a martz fan, but clearly more than 1 receiver that can run a route AND catch the ball, would be more ideal for that offense.
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 29, 2011 -> 10:51 PM) yea baby, here comes the Roy Ratio I know that's a joke, but I think Tice would be a good OC. We just never gave martz the personnel he needed to succeed, basically only 1 team in history has... and Tice would be a much better fit.
-
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 29, 2011 -> 10:19 PM) Even in a shortened season I'd be worried about Roy's knees suddenly going out. I'm going to say this again, you should be MORE worried about this in a shortened season.

The ownership has nobody but themselves to blame. But nonetheless, football is now far and away the most popular american sport, a talented organization should make a fortune there in tv revenue alone.
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 29, 2011 -> 05:37 PM) he will probably pull a stunt like the Oklahoma City Thunder did to Seattle. give the city an ultimatum that is very hard to meet, then say "look at this new facility they are offering in LA...... see ya" Which absolutely should happen. Nobody in jax will even notice. The 2nd largest market in the country without a football team is a joke.

MOVE THAT TEAM.

Del Rio got the axe...about 4 years later than he should have, but oh well. Black hole franchise.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 29, 2011 -> 10:48 AM) Going on Mizzou's student TV station tomorrow as a football analyst. Oh boy. Please tell me you won't feed into the perpetual student fantasies of firing every offensive coach. -
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 29, 2011 -> 03:11 PM) Actually you do see plenty of movies focusing on poor people - but they are EXTREMELY poor, like in some form of dystopia, or they came crashing down from some great height, or it is in some 3rd world country. You are right though that you don't see a lot of American films focusing on poor Americans. Right. I'm talking everyday poor that also isn't a focus on the nobility of being poor in that condescending way.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 29, 2011 -> 01:06 AM) Agreed, but they still needed the plot device of framing her against Rose Byrne's uber-rich but patently unhappy inside character. I was trying to think of a movie where the character is in a similar or worse predicament in the beginning, movies like Pretty Woman, for example. Or Shawshank, which is obviously a very different genre of movie. Blah, in pretty woman they added the bulls*** "oh but it was her first night as a prostitute" line. I think Bridesmaids resonates more because she is "falling behind" her friends and is trying to keep up. Swingers actually hit on being poor and young better than most. It's just ridiculous that I'm struggling to find any movies where the characters are poor and them being poor isn't a stereotype. ...where the heart is? Has it come to this? Even look at the League, those dudes are all comics who struggled for years, and first shot they get they create themselves all as uber succesful. Being poor sucks, but it's also where a lot of comedians inspiration comes from. Yet it's not represented in cinema often.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 29, 2011 -> 12:12 AM) It was clearly a bad call with Hanie at qb...he's not accustomed to making reads on screen plays. If you noticed late in the game, right before that long td to Knox, he threw another screen to Forte where Matt got blasted about 1/4 of a second after Hanie threw it to him (and he threw it at him quite hard, I might add...it was a heck of a play for Matt just to catch the ball, let alone hang on to it). It's actually a very nice little play and one I was quite surprised the Raiders were ready for, especially with Hanie in there. But I agree, should have handed it off to Barber once or twice there, instead of trying to get all fancy. I don't buy that it even could work. you have a very short field, and you have a play that takes a long time to develop, and will still begin in the backfield. As soon as it begins the safeties and LBs at least know they don't have to stay back. It was 2nd and 1, our starting QB is out, this is when you say "hey, we have 2 really good RBs and a time out, lets get the first"
-
I frankly don't need to. I don't care if Bogans is back, so it's hardly something I need to accept. I just find your assertion that you could count on anything from Tracy McGrady to be ridiculous. That said we have no idea how exactly this offseason period will shake out. But I am very much against the bulls making a gamble on mcgrady being healthy, let alone an upgrade on Bogans.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 28, 2011 -> 10:12 PM) The fact that he lasted 72 games last year and averaged >20 mpg suggests to me that if I asked him to play in 80% of the games and give me 15-20 minutes as part of a 4 guard rotation, he ought to be able to handle it barring a catastrophic injury. It shouldn't, and you just blatantly ignore the difficulties of the compressed schedule. So 2 out of the last 3 years he hasn't been able to finish 50% of his games, therefore you are willing to make the upgrade to your SG be a gamble that a 31 year old oft injured player with over 30,000 minutes played under his belt will get you 80% of the games in a compressed 66 game season schedule including many more back to back and back to back to back games, and get us...what like 6 ppg? It's a terrible sign. I would rather we bring back bogans than that.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 23, 2011 -> 05:49 AM) That's why I liked "The Kids are Alright" so much, it felt like it could actually be a true story, rather than one of those Apatow versions or Bridesmaids, etc. I loved bridesmaids. Bridesmaids was one of the few movies that acknowledged that there are people in the world who aren't so comfortably rich that money has no impact in any moment in their lives. Movie about a journalist? They are a rich columnist with a 2 million dollar condo in manhattan. Movie about a chef? He's a rich chef with a beautiful house and garden. Everybody is a doctor, or wealthy, or millionaire. Any attempts to show poor people are usually "poor people are the salt of the earth with common people knowledge. Money sucks" stories. I related more to kristen wiigs character than any recent one in years.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 28, 2011 -> 11:00 PM) TMac isn't a guy you sign expecting 30 mpg, he's a guy you sign expecting 15-20 mpg along with a rotation of other guards. The Bulls actually have the rotation of other guards already...and that's actually one important point here. If the Bulls can't get a major upgrade at the position, a guy who commands 30+ mpg because you want him in the lineup, then they need to find a guy who fills some of their needs (shooting and ability to generate own shot) and compliments Brewer, Bogans, and Korver. I wasn't insinuating he'd play 30 minutes per night, even if he plays 18 minutes I"d worry about that 3 nights in a row so many times. He's old, old players have hard time being consistent because they get fatigued so easily. He's not a good pickup.
-
I can't imagine how tmac will stay healthy with so many 3 games in 3 nights. I'd like to avoid taking flyers on oft injured vets for this year.

What is it about 2nd and shorts in the red zone and Caleb Hanie as QB that causes mike martz to run the most assinine plays that have such a small chance at succeeding?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 28, 2011 -> 07:28 PM) Is the quality of the recording already released good enough that independent audio experts are likely going through it to see if they can be the one to announce it's a fraud? fwiw on ESPN last night before their report they said they had audio experts already independently verify it was the wife.
