  1. Say, somehow that does happen. At that point kahn better package up some of his assets and make a trade for someone big.
  2. ugh. just build some casinos, i don't even care anymore.
  3. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 09:42 PM) Then you know Kahn takes Irving. I think the Williams route might be smarter for the Cavs. Then tehy can go and get a PG with the #4 pick. It probably won't be Irving, but Kemba Walker + Williams might be better than Irving + somebody else. Right.
  4. What happens if Cleveland takes Williams?
  5. I didn't claim it was original, but the use of babybell actually created a stretchy cheese in the middle rather than a melted goopy mess. It was the most perfect thing anyone has ever created. We all may kill ourselves.
  6. Last year I put a baby bell mozzarella cheese ball in the middle of my burger and grilled it. It was the best thing i've ever done.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 04:48 PM) And this decision created a new one based on Scalia's gut. The official standard right now, in clear, unambiguous legal terms, from the mind of Justice Scalia, is that class action qualification requires "some glue holding the alleged reasons for all those decisions together.” I'll await your official legal definition of "some glue". this was a unanimous decision.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 03:03 PM) And the best part is we are now going to be required to pay for it all. We already are.
  9. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 02:10 PM) I think the analysis linked explained the how and why and the split better than I could summarize. Class action suits have been hit pretty hard recently by this court. eta: I'm not really sure if this is a bad decision, though. The case would be very, very hard to prove with such a large class with a wide range of claims. I mean, ethically, yeah, I'd like to see terrible companies like Walmart pay through the nose for their terrible business practices, but I don't know that this lawsuit and the way it was structured was really legit. eta2: but they also upheld the class cert. in the California prison case over Scalia's ranting and fire-and-brimstone predictions. I agree. I don't think this is an outrageous decision, this was not a homogenous 1.5 million claims.
  10. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 20, 2011 -> 09:05 PM) Trying to get back on track, I will ask this again... why is this thread called "Marlines interested in Ozzie Guillen" when I can find not a shred of evidence that this is the case today? Beside the phil rogers article, there is the idea that they just hired an 80-year-old stopgap manager, and have been interested in guillen before.
  11. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 20, 2011 -> 09:37 PM) Only thing I agree with SS2K5 about when it comes to LeBron is that he could have a little more to offer from the post. Especially at his size. But even with that, I can't classify him as an underachiever. If Lebron is an underachiever, every player in the NBA is an underachiever. A little more? He's 6'8, strong as hell AND FAST, for nights when his shot is off he should put his ass down there. It would be game over, greatest modern offensive player ever, hands down. He doesn't.
  12. just, two things. Is Lebron underachieving, I do believe he is. I also believe D. Howard is. I don't believe they are lazy. I do believe that lebron is still a top 10-15 all time great. But his underachieving means he will never be in greatest all-time status and that does carry a lot more weight. And I also think the reason for it is entirely that he's afraid to fail.
  13. I think I'll wait until he's 33-34 before I make that claim. I don't think he'll ever develop the things he should, but there is still a chance he disappears for a summer and develops a post game.
  14. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 20, 2011 -> 04:37 PM) Personally, I don't think Thomas would be a good hitting coach froma technique stand point. If only seen him, Hank aaron and Roberto Clemente use the front foot hitting style where they lifted the rear foot. I'm also not sure he can teach the patience. However, maybe he teach overall philosophy. He doesn't particularly seem to be a people person either.
  15. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 08:39 PM) How did torture policies affect you personally? If we're talking about an American soldier, or a potential American soldier, maybe. But an average American? I know nothing in my life has changed from either event. How did "torture policies" affect you? In an # of ways, some existential, some practical, but all real and do matter. Even abstract things like "my country doing something I don't believe in" affect me. But at the very least it made many detainees at guantanimo impossible to try on real courts because their testimony would get thrown out and helped lead to the quagmire of Gitmo today, which contributes to hostility abroad toward that policy and tax dollars.
  16. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 08:32 PM) Either i'm not conveying my point clearly enough or you guys have some really weird, warped view of the average American consumer of news/media. Are you honestly telling me, in a country that votes more for an American Idol contestant than the President of the United States, that it's surprising that a dick pic controversy would "sell" better than stories about prison abuse half way around the world**? **Which btw, was covered 100000000 times more than the most recent scandal involving US troops taking pictures of dead civilians/terrorists under Obama's watch. but I think you are confusing interest with whether something affects someone more. ANd you said that a d*** picture affects the average american more than torture policies in the middle east.
  17. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 08:14 PM) As it relates to the average American, yeah, i'd say dick pics of a Congressman has about as much impact on their day as what some guard in a prison camp in Iraq did. I don't think I ever said that was right/wrong, that's just the way it is. I think this is the most cynical thing I've ever read.
  18. obvious news of day.
  19. that's because when you have a stretch in the beginning of the season every year where you put yourself a large number below .500 and then climb back at an unsustainable winning pace, you then begin to go back to a sustainable pace and lose the division because of another s***ty april/may under your manager/GM. And each time we'll have said "this division is winnable!"
  20. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 04:23 PM) Wow, so white people do riot?According to the US media they don't...as if they never heard of the word hooligan. They weren't rioting, they were just stocking up on supplies and removing debris from the street. And creating new doorways by breaking windows.
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 03:18 PM) Glad I restrained my desire to throw in quotes from J4L, Mark Harmon/Gibbs from NCIS (another managerial candidate), Harvard philosophy professor Michael Sandel and The Green Lantern on "courage and hope versus fear" (of the Twins). hahahahaha
  22. That actually...was...a...great, coherent caulfield post!
  23. QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 04:26 AM) That's s***ty. Minny has a rep as a gay-friendly city. Yeah that really is strange to happen about a month after being ranked like, #1 gay-friendly city. (Or maybe it was by population).
  24. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 03:30 AM) How do they make their money? And those "hiring solutions" are just beginning to really hash out. It's got a lot of users and is continuing to grow, but also has some pretty talented engineers on their team. edit: link http://www.mediapost.com/publications/?fa=...;art_aid=150710
