  1. Chris if you could tell me how Dye, Podsednik and Quentin were not a bad defensive outfield trio, I'll concede the point.
  2. yeah but that also doesn't give any reason to just ignorantly throw it out as your best insult at a player you don't like.
  3. I did respond to someone, didn't I?
  4. Rios a PED-head... huh. Typically I don't pick out slender sub-25 HR hitting players as PED-heads.
  5. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 24, 2009 -> 08:22 PM) I dont think you can call a team with AJ, Everett, and even Rowand boring. People find interesting what the media hypes up. None of these players play for boston or NY, nor nationally followed teams like the cardinals/cubs/dodgers.
  6. People generally find the 2005 white sox to be the most boring W.S. winner of the decade.
  7. first it was the length of a preliminary bill, and the CBO score, then the good CBO score was cooking the books, then it was the length of the bill, then it was that the bill was rushed.
  8. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Dec 24, 2009 -> 06:00 AM) Hmmm... so I guess Thornton somehow died last year, but somehow is relevant this year eh? Thornton is so brave and kind to come back from the dead.
  9. I want to say that was his worst slump but he's certainly given us a lot of options to choose from. Seemed until about 2005 i guess that he couldn't put a full season together.
  10. QUOTE (Cknolls @ Dec 23, 2009 -> 10:06 PM) Like? 1/6th of the economy. Nice try.... Are you familiar with how medicare was passed? Social Security? Were you around for them? Many agendas that have affected the country's government, business sector and people have been passed much faster than what will effectively be 3 congressional sessions, and that's if you don't count the debate that ensued during the Presidential election, or the debate 40 years before that. For instance, the patriot act passed in a single congressional session, in fact it passed in about a month. The debate has been long and varied, and has ended up at this bill. Yes, there are reasons to try and finish up legislation before a session ends, especially since apparently the senate can only work on one item at a time, they still need to tackle all the bills that have passed the house. And if you are wondering why this has to be done now, for one it's because a lot of these issues have been punted on for 20 years, and it's time they be addressed.
  11. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Dec 23, 2009 -> 03:47 PM) I realize Ely doesn't have electric stuff, but does Mark Buehrle? Not to compare the two, but what I understand is Ely was really studying hard to be a solid pitcher, his work ethic and devotion to his craft was turning him into a pretty damn good prospect. NO, he was never gonna be a front of the rotation starter, but just looking at raw stuff sometimes doesn't tell the tale. I mean...a guy with 'average' stuff that struck out the numbers he did while also giving up a paltry number of home runs makes you wanna keep tabs on this guy. It's over and done with, he's gone...probably won't be a huge loss, but I still think the character of the young man, his ability to grow, and work ethic, combined with a great understanding of how to pitch may find him pitching in the majors one day. Oh yea, Ely also grew up a Sox fan... Mark Buehrle was an anomoly, but people always bring him up. We've had 40 "mark buerhle's" come through our system since 2001. Josh Stewart ? = Mark Buerhle! I doubt Ely turns into anything special.
  12. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Dec 23, 2009 -> 05:36 PM) Nice reporting by MSNBC - Did Obama Campaign on the Public Option... no That's great, but at campaign stops, he did talk about it, in addition to saying he supported it.
  13. QUOTE (lostfan @ Dec 23, 2009 -> 05:18 PM) I think I know what he's trying to say but it's pretty hard to word that any worse than he did. In addition to his argument (which was about medicaid), more white people are on medicaid in S.C. than black people.
  14. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Dec 23, 2009 -> 06:10 AM) If the company stock has performed well, he has helped millions of people who hold their stock either singularly or as part of a 401k package somewhere. yeah, some look at this as the ultimate nobility. I look at the fact that his policies bankrupted many and killed quite a number. But the 401k thing, that's pretty good. Pinochet made a lot of people money, as well.
  15. There have been many pieces of legislation rodded through like this one. Also, plenty of people being mandated are going to be healthy and young, that is in fact profitable.
  16. Baseball moves fast, considering a lot of guys your counting began playing with the team last year, i don't think it's much of a worry. And even if they were brand new, I don't think it would be much of a worry.
  17. might be the last scoop the wash times ever gets (could also have been the first)
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 22, 2009 -> 02:35 PM) Vernon Wells was a -18.2. Jesus.
  19. No matter what, I don't think anyone can argue that it was a disgrace to open up the season with Wise as our starting CF and leadoff hitter. Especially in an offseason where Abreu garnered a paltry sum and O. Hudson was had for reasonably. It was a stupid strategy that we probably paid for in losing the division.
  20. QUOTE (qwerty @ Dec 22, 2009 -> 05:53 AM) The sox were -25.6... tied with the red sox for third worst in baseball...ahead of the blue jays (-28.8) and twins (-30.6). But remember, the outfield defense wasn't really a problem anyway. I would've never imagined the blue jays were that bad...
  21. attention all Sao paolo pet owners, a new ploy of city criminals has been to kidnap pets and hold them for ransom. No s***.
