  1. i think the oddest thing is that this team is ozzies. He's said as much, it's clear. This was the ozzie in 2004 that would say you can't win the derby with a donkey. How the f*** do you campaign to get a roster full of s***ty players just because ... yeah, it's easier because you can rest them easier. Like he found this one annoying part of his job and obsessed over it until it became his sole focus. Like a manager of a restaurant who ignored the food and focused solely on the annoyance of juggling schedules, until he hired a bunch of s***ty waiters because they had the most flexible hours. It's embarrassing. But...yeah. Um. At least the DH isn't singlehandedly causing this team to self-destruct...other players suck too. Rongey was right.
  2. anyone remember in 2001 when von joshua was fired despite our offense being awesome the year before? Yeahhhhh
  3. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 03:20 AM) A lot of our guys are going to bounce back and there's still time to make up for this terrible start. the amount of god damn times i've heard this the past decade is embarrassing.
  4. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 08:30 PM) Yes, but if voting laws in CA are like here in FL with closed primaries then you won't be able to vote in the Dem primaries if you are a registered GOP. And when you realize you are registered to the wrong party it may be too lat to get it corrected to be able to vote. I would show my revolt by voting Fiorino.
  5. well yeah, i'm pretty scared to lose the benefits i'd get from medicare and ss.
  6. QUOTE (The Baconator @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 04:18 AM) It's sad to say, but it generally seems like he's the 'Randy Moss' of baseball (though he doesn't have the relative all-star capability that Moss has, if you can relate that across sports). He seems to be the guy that has the skills to really excel at his position if he can 'figure it out'. Moss seems to have settled into a solid role after a shaky start; I'm hoping Alexei is just experiencing those same growing pains and can break through that cloud. If he can, he can be something really special. I suspect Omar is here to really try to 'ground' him and keep him focused; I just hope it works. randy moss was consistently awesome his first 5 years in the league.
  7. i have a hard time calling a sixth round pick on anyone a waste.
  8. I've read your post 4 times and i have no idea what you are talking about. edit: to caulfield.
  9. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Apr 26, 2010 -> 08:40 PM) Oooohhhh...I see. So because players aren't getting on base, we aren't scoring runs... And I thought it was because they can't hit with RISP...at least that's what I've seen. Well, the thing is...if you have players on base a lot more, you have a lot more chances to get a hit with RISP. I mean, a good average with RISP would be .300, right? So 70% of the time you are failing. And if you have a lot less chances with a runner in scoring position, that 70% seems a lot worse. Kalapse had a great stat that almost seems obvious, but the teams that typically have the highest # of men LOB are usually good offenses in runs scored. It's all about creating a lot of chances in a game. Not executing 100% of the time, because in the MLB that isn't realistic. (or even 50% if that seems too hyperbolic)
  10. I have to say, any version of a last name of mcvey/vay/veigh just seems like bad news. If your last name is this please change it before the name grows octolimbs, piercing your brain and controlling your movements.
  11. NSS, i'm glad you're back. And I'm glad you are still fighting the good fight. I, on the other hand, don't have time for evenhandedness...black and white baby, and i'm Gandolf the white.
  12. obama might be a facist, we have no way of knowing.
  13. a few of our power hitters (oh my god i said OUR implying i'm on the team!) are hitting home runs. This is a good thing. Our contact hitters are not getting on base at all. This isn't an approach. Hitting home runs is a good thing. But hitting home runs on a team with a good OBP is a great thing.
  14. a pleasure to get a sweep, especially the way we did it.
  15. okay dudes, i'll say it. I turned off the tv after jenks gave up the double. I didn't want my buzz killed after the hawks game. Poor move.
  16. QUOTE (The Critic @ Apr 25, 2010 -> 01:27 PM) My wife and I screamed so loud at the Hossa game-winner that her Mom got scared and ran in the room to see what was wrong. that one i just kinda jumped and yelled, kane to tie it made me run back and forth high kneed yelling NOOOOOOOOO NOOOOO I CAN'T BELIEVE IT
  17. "That's not what the Constitution says," the Virginia Republican declared Wednesday (April 21), surrounded by other members of the Congressional Prayer Caucus. "That's what one unelected judge says the Constitution says." pray tell me, genius, what you are talking about.
  18. who cares, my only goal in life is to take their country away from them, hold it over them and slowly crush them and as they are screaming, begging, for me to stop, i'll look down at them and say "no."
  19. I've been so wrong about the draft for years, I don't really care anymore.
