QUOTE (Soxy @ May 26, 2010 -> 07:14 PM) Unless you plan on groping her or putting pubes in her coke you're probably okay. I still disagree that asking whether she is gay is beside the point or intrusive.

CBO is now a biased office. It would be immediately discredited. Duh.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 24, 2010 -> 11:03 PM) Actually, what's more likely is they get press coverage for this deal, they get more applications because of it, they are therefore able to refuse admission to more applicants, and their admission standards look more stringent...to the filter that US News uses to rank colleges (which is a simple percentage of applicants admitted). "get better students"

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 24, 2010 -> 06:24 PM) I don't have a problem with the school giving out computing devices. I don't think the iPad is the best device, and it seems like it was done, at least partially, as a way to market towards potential students. "Hey, I get a cool iPad if I go to IIT!" SOooo, they might get better students and educate them better. WHat a stupid decision. Meanwhile, US NEws and World Report is counting how many flat screen tvs are at a college in order to rank them.

Conservatives and the ACLU
Apparently these kids did actually care, that's why the administration acted quickly to diffuse it. Only to get the uproar from a bunch of people saying" Whater you can't wear AMERICAN SHIRTS in AMERICA ANYMORE AHREOAUREALRF"

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 24, 2010 -> 05:32 PM) I believe is a an excellent check. I don't know constitutional law well enough, but as long as Congress has the ability to override each line veto individually, it should be OK by me. Sure, they have the ability...but realistically it would be the death of it.

I still don't believe it's constitutional and it should fail.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 24, 2010 -> 12:45 PM) 6 Seasons of TV were built on these questions, the amount of time spent on Walt and Aaron demands an answer, and instead the Writers chose to have ignore these questions in favor of a metaphysical ending that demands guesswork and conjecture for the plot that drove the show sinces its inception. it really wasn't built on those questions.

QUOTE (chw42 @ May 24, 2010 -> 12:12 AM) I'm pretty sure the ever increasing tuition that IIT students have to pay is responsible for some of those iPads, if not all of them. Old school people like my dad (who b****es about dinning hall food prices) would probably throw a hissy fit at something like this. And I sort of don't blame him. It'd be great if the iPad had a more convenient stylus input function. That way, it can be really useful to take notes on, something that I hate to do on pen and paper because I barely bother reading my notes afterwards. tuition is going to go up regardless. I'd like to know why my tuition went up 33% with little special perks for me. (j-school was privately funded)

I've read fiction books before in my life. Sometimes they create fictional settings. Many times, while explaining how those fictional settings are and their properties, they don't explain the origin of it from the very beginning. Why? Because it's boring and irrelevant. You know what was a boring episode? The origin of jacob and smokemonster. You know what would have been really boring? Sidetracking the last episode for a quick crash course about who created/discovered the island.

HAWKS WIN! HAWKS WIN THE STANLEY CUP!!
QUOTE (knightni @ May 23, 2010 -> 11:07 PM) The mid-90s sell-off following the Cup thrashing at the hands of Lemieux, Francis and Jagr killed my budding fandom. Wirtz and his clueless front office didn't help either. Trading or allowing free agency to Roenick, Belfour, Chelios, Suter, Sutter, Amonte, Carney, Krivokrasov, Smith, Murphy, Nicholls, Matteau, Weinrich, Ruutu, Poulin and other guys for crap just stomped my heart flat. That said, good luck to the new 'Hawks in the Finals. Yeah, it was bad. What made it worse was beside thrashing the on the field product they were pissing away their fan experience. They'd f*** with the peanut vendors, jack up prices when we sucked, f*** with parking. It was like they were actively trying to drive everyone away. And they succeeded with me. I only started following again after we drafted Kane. Good timing.
