    Sushi in Chicago

there's a place on belmont and paulina called house of noodles or something that you pay 13 up front for a as many sushi plates as you can eat, but if you get more than you can eat you pay like $5 per piece. I like this place.
  3. it's one game. Granted it's fun watching the shingo of starters. year 2.
  4. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 16, 2010 -> 01:35 AM) CNN got overheated with their rhetoric. MSNBC got overheated with their rhetoric. Oh wait, you never hear that from Democrats. That's part of the problem. haha.
  5. honestly...how are you guys still taking this thread seriously when he's gone out of his way to show how not serious it was.
  6. the defensive outfield with quentin at DH is so niceeeeeeeeeeeeee.
  7. people are taking this thread way too seriously. I hope we win tonight because I'm watching.
  8. QUOTE (docsox24 @ Apr 15, 2010 -> 06:22 PM) Aug 3, 2001 against tampa. I certainly don't remember the game. you know...i actually watched that game. That was a disaster year and mark buerhle was the only thing to root for then.
  9. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Apr 15, 2010 -> 07:14 AM) Well, that's 2 hits over 9 innings of work, that's rather rare and hard to do. He has 12 starts of 7+ innings and 2 or fewer hits over his career. 10 of 8+ innings. this would be the explanation.
  10. extending him after 2 good games is really shortsighted.
  11. to be quite honest, i'm a bit surprised he's had just 1 one hitter and 2 two hitters. It doesn't seem like those have been rare.
  12. ahh, the picking and choosing of non-things that people are complaining about as illegitimate.
  13. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 15, 2010 -> 04:35 AM) Yesterday's disastrous 1 hit loss was only 27 pages. Today's was 23 pages, more than likely because the game was on WCIU which a great portion of this board does not get. Winning gamethreads don't really show much of a difference in number of posts when compared to losing ones. in addition to the fact that thursday nights people are more of a going out night. I watched it a bar. It was glorious. Even Donny Lucy got a double. I wasn't so worried about last night, he seemed on. But, clearly, getting men on base=good. I want to ride Andruw Jones hot streak. But so far so good. Let's continue it tomorrow.
  14. Guerrier had an alright career, I don't know how he's doing now.
  15. which is why the new bank bill should create a system to deal with the failure of a tbtf bank much like we are capable of with smaller ones like FDIC
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 14, 2010 -> 04:55 PM) The problem I have wiht that type of journalism is...there's always motivation behind gossip. It's never unvarnished truth...it's the opinion of one side, and it's usually the angrier side who gets all the attention. Well that's why game change isn't a good book, but I'm telling you why it was written. edit: and that stuff about the fights...there's no journalism article you can write about like that that wouldn't just be seen as a hit job.
  17. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 14, 2010 -> 04:14 PM) They've built quite a few beautiful houses south of the park and directly west. The funny part is that most of the northside idiots who talk s*** about the area around the Cell wouldnt be able to afford even 10% of one of those houses. I do wish there were more restaurants and nice taverns closer to the park down 35th st. Considering the hell that the new Jimbos (what's it gonna be called) is going through I'm guessing a lot of blame also falls on the city of chicago for their absurdly difficult zoning and regulations.
  18. QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Apr 14, 2010 -> 04:38 AM) You have a point. I will occasionally drive to the Cell if I am short on time and know that I will easily be able to get parking at a relatively decent rate. Off topic, is that Gregory Peck from Guns of Navarrone in your avatar? It looks like it but I think I might be mistaken. Woody Guthrie
  19. QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Apr 14, 2010 -> 05:29 AM) Out of curiosity, are you of the opinion that had they built the park in the middle of Bridgeport, the lack of parking available would have discouraged people from driving to the ballpark? I am not so sure I agree that is how it would have played out. I think those surface lots would still be used with some type of shuttle service to the park. I like public transportation for getting to the game and will do anything possible to avoid getting in my car and paying for parking. However, they are a lot of folks in the other camp who would rather b**** about parking prices and traffic than exploring the alternatives. Yes. I'm not saying it would eliminate, but i certainly think the parking situation in Wrigley is a huge deterrence to driving there. And hey, it gives the residents some extra income to sell their parking spots. It's so easy to drive to sox park. I'd bet a good 60% drive there. I'd bet it's quite lower for cubs games
  20. Right, it just pisses me off that the way they built it...it was just like, we're putting it in an island, no need to wander around it's not worth it.
  21. QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Apr 14, 2010 -> 04:59 AM) The Sox get good revenue for the lots during the season, but for the right price, I am confident some type of deal could be worked for future development. The fact is the returns on an investment are not high enough yet to merit building a mixed use structure incorporating first floor retail with a multi-level parking garage above and maybe some residential units above the parking component. First point, the sox didn't pay for the stadium, so a stadium design that would've fostered quite a bit more commercial activity is far more beneficial to me than allowing people to drive to the games and pollute and add traffic at an already awful time. BUt to your second point, you are correct. However, had it happened 20 years ago we'd have had that much more progress. Look at Wicker park 20 years ago to now. Look at South Loop. It was so god damn boring and stupid. But, there is clearly overregulation right now that could really help create something by the sox stadium. Look at the restrictions the new jimbos is working around (liquor license freeze).
  22. QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 14, 2010 -> 03:06 AM) It would help Greece a lot if they could devalue their currency. That would only be a band-aid fix though, they basically have to take a sledgehammer to their government and start over. defaulting tends to do that. However...argentina is the key example here. The IMF let them float along for a while and finally they defaulted. They went through hell, but they did recover rather quickly. If Greece defaults while being under the Euro...damn, their people are f***ed.
