  1. He can either sprint to second, or jog back to the bus.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 06:59 PM) It never hurts to actually have gone to a doctor/health center. this.
  3. QUOTE (hammerhead johnson @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 08:13 PM) We already covered this, though. Left-handed pitcher with a balkish move to first that doesn't get called. I'd have been hesitant to steal as well. but not hesitant to have your best hitter bunt because you've seen some people do it before in the same situation so it's fine.
  4. ahh, the defer to management because they have jobs in management and we don't so they must always be right school of thought. Brilliant. Terry Bevington, brilliant baseball mind. He was a manager, you know!
  5. This is so stupid, i can't believe we are arguing sacrificing beckham twice in the late innings as a good move.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 06:46 PM) They got Sotomayor's nomination through on schedule though. capital was way higher then. And the media will do the "obama should elect a moderate" bulls***.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 07:23 PM) The sound of it so far is that the Dems want to get this done fast, perhaps before the Court's term ends. If it goes to the Fall, 1/3 of the Senate will be off campaigning, so it'll be almost impossible to have anyone in place before the start of the Court's next session. And Stevens is actually leaving in June, he's not staying on until the replacement is named like O'Connor did. health care was going to be done last summer.
  8. QUOTE (hammerhead johnson @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 06:40 PM) I guess I'm just really conservative, because all I can think about is the worst case scenario where the baserunner gets thrown out. I'd much rather just bunt him over. in which case you have 1 out with 3 of your best hitters coming up, instead of 1 out, man on second and first, with one of your best hitters who is also a DP machine, and then a not so good hitter. Yeah.
  9. well, in this situation, they are going to threaten no anyway, they'll be right around election time.
  10. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 06:15 PM) I dunno man, that guy is wicked smart. Talking about years and years of Supreme Court history/cases without notes is pretty impressive. No one is saying Roberts isn't smart.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 06:11 PM) And as soon as you bunt with Beckham to get Pierre to 2nd...the right move becomes to give Q nothing to hit and to try to walk him, because Konerko is an easy GIDP with his wheels, if you can keep the ball down. yep.
  12. the courts of the 60s and 70s were very liberal. It's not surprising that a moderate candidate at the time became a very liberal member of the court considering what happened after that.
  13. Bunting with beckham is like 95% a sure thing to waste an out. Pierre, unfortunately, is only a 30% chance to if he steals. Beckham hits a lot of doubles...and you wasted him for a chance to only put a guy on second. It was a bad move in each inning.
  14. QUOTE (Ranger @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 05:56 PM) Bunting him over in the 9th inning is fine. I wouldn't have done it in the 7th, though. Why can't stealy mcstealerson steal in the ninth and not waste Beckhams AB? He's our best hitter. Instead of getting 3 tries of a big hit with our best hitters...we gave ourselves 2 chances.
  15. even when our 2-3-4 produces, that's not enough. They won't do it every night.
  16. I really think Merrick Garland is my choice, but my research is in its infancy.
  17. QUOTE (ChWRoCk2 @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 03:49 PM) I think the lineup is fine, not much you can do when players are not hitting. You're of the opinion this will change. Interesting.
  18. QUOTE (ChWRoCk2 @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 03:50 PM) And he will do his usual strikeout looking while shaking his head walking back to the dugout. Pods?
  19. I loved him as a player and thought he was a wonderful White Sox representative. If I had the money to go, I'd kiss him. W/tongue.
  20. I want someone picked whose a hardliner against extrajudicial executive powers such as the US citizen assassinated by the Obama administration. Since congress is dickless when it comes to doing anything, I'd like a court to take this up.
  21. I'm liking Merrick Garland http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merrick_B._Garland
  22. Kagan, Wood...hmm... People are really pushin for a non judge on msnbc right now.
  23. i know you guys refuse to believe it, but Obama has been very centrist. JPS was the pillar of the left on the court. Obama will not propose a very left figure for the court. So it once again becomes more right.
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 02:48 PM) This is almost certain to continue the movement of the court towards the right. I agree. The activist right.
