True. I liked KC fans. They have a rough go of it. In that state, they get pooped on by some very very intense and annoying cardinals fans. It'd be like the cubs, if the cubs consistently won and many world series. I can't imagine going through the drought they've gone through.
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 13, 2010 -> 07:23 PM) Maybe the booing and adverse reaction will light a fire under Alex? Would be nice to see him playing with some fire and motivation...although he does everything so smoothly and effortlessly (the anti-Rowand or the modern-day Devon White) that it looks like he's not trying. Aka the non-chalant Jon Garland Effect. He did go 3/5 last night with some SBs? (one or two?) I think there is something to the fact that it doesn't look like alex is trying. But Last night his swing was super level. I liked it. He's a smooth player, and I really love him in CF.
  3. If we're gonna score 8 runs, i'll definitely take it on a night we give up 7.
  4. The thing about Alexei's play is that it was a play he absolutely should've made. Takes some of the luster out of it.
  5. i'm anxious to see if that one pivot keyboard works well.
  6. it's the first launch, every product has bugs in the first launch.

the new lcd soundsystem, however, is just dripping hot sex all over me. I might cough up orgasms listening to this.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 13, 2010 -> 04:34 PM) Very true, it most likely won't carry over. Because he's now sporting a .901 OPS on the season. I'll gladly take Teahan's hot streak now. We need to be right next to the twins.
  9. salazar is too valuable right now. I continue to see no reason why someone with a law background and government experience with laws cannot be tapped.
  10. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 13, 2010 -> 05:01 PM) What differs in TCQ's mental approach to the game when he's the DH, instead of playing the field? The DH might actually be beneficial to Carlos in that he can go back to the clubhouse to watch tape or to the cages to work out some kinks, immediately upon failure, rather than after the game. I understand that, but everyone keeps talking about how he'll just sit there and stew about how he sucked his last at bat. And perhaps it's groupthink...but if enough people think it i tend to believe it.
  11. yeah, the thing is...there were so many mp3 players that everyone would say "it's so much BETTER than the ipod and CHEAPER" and it didn't matter. Apple's ipod was a cultural icon...and google we can't live without anymore. This random company...maybe they will succeed but right off the bat with their first launch? It'll take a long time to get a market share. I'd say they might get 10%...might. BUt probably more like 2-3% with their first launch.
  12. I still say in a year i'll have an ipad...contingent on getting a job. And within ten years everyone will have ipads taped to their chests and are programmed through them. In 20...in 20 we're all f***ing dead.
  13. at this point it kinda seems like starting up a fast food restaurant to directly compete nationally with McDonalds and Subway. I just don't see anyone with the brand loyalty/recognition that can compete.
  14. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Apr 13, 2010 -> 03:48 PM) BTW was there anyone else who thought we should have put the squeeze play on with Teahen at 3rd and Pierre at bat in the 11th? He's the best bunter we have, and he's not likely to lift the ball far enough to score Teahen on a sac fly. And he's more likely to successfully squeeze than Pierre is to get an outright single. And Teahen's not terribly slow. Just seemed like an Ozzie-type move, and a logical one, I was surprised it didn't happen. Is it just because there were 0 out? Yeah I was surprised as well. BUt also, not getting Teahan in from 3rd with 0 out is, like, not remembered at all right? Since we won? It's really important to have people on base a lot in a game. You aren't going to knock them in every opportunity, so you need as many as possible.
  15. Nonetheless, with our team as currently constructed: if it was a video game i'd put CQ at DH and pierre in LF. But since I have legitimate concerns about TCQs mental makeup 100% on the bench, Jones-Rios-Quentin is worth having Pierre DH. Even if theoretically using your DH on a slappy slappster with infield grass power (srsly Jerry Owens looks like Babe Ruth now, remember JOs HR v. Toronto?) makes me sick, it's the best balance of Defense and Offense with TCQs aneurysms considered.
  16. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 13, 2010 -> 03:36 PM) Mark Teahen gets some well-deserved pimpage from Fangraphs after carrying the Sox last night. "The winning team, as a whole, will only have a +.500 WPA. Teahen shouldered the entire load and some more for the White Sox on Monday night in what could be one of the biggest, in terms of clutch hitting and value to the team, performances of the entire year. In his final 3 PAs, in which he went 3-3 with a 3B, a HR, and 3 RBIs, the run he knocked in either tied the game or gave the White Sox the lead. The leverage index of these three plays were 1.86, 2.90, and 3.43, respectively. Teahen came up huge in big spots for Chicago. To do so once can make you a hero. To do so three times in the same game? That’s simply amazing." http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/index.php/t...rries-white-sox Word. Jones kept puttin us ahead...Teahan caught us up. and Ahead. Teahan and Jones...whodathunkit.
  17. come on guys, it's not like the closer will singlehandedly break this team./guess
  18. it's not like medvedev is the brains behind the operation anyhow. edit: funny thing about the book game change, made george bush seem way more calm and intelligent than one John Sidney McCain
  19. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Apr 13, 2010 -> 04:05 PM) Wasn't just last night, that's 2 starts in a row now. That's why I'm interested in this and will be watching his next 2-3 starts. Right. He was off about a foot the last two starts on anything inside quite a bit. Against cleveland he was just wild enough to only give up 3 runs, that caught up to him here. But It really seems like it's something lower body. He's not whipping around his hips like he used to.
  20. it doesn't really matter if there is a regression. A closer can simply suck out of the blue. If Bobby starts to suck his future with the white sox is donezo.
  21. remember a few weeks back where we were talking about why the hell we learn things that are just empirically untrue yet get passed down anyways only for us to unlearn them... well, i finally learned that in fact, robert E. Lee was not an abolitionist. http://www.c-spanarchives.org/program/ID/175482 go to minute 55:00 I mean, I don't really care, it makes sense, but what's the point of perpetrating that memo unless to push forward that the civil war was more than about slavery, about some abstract claim to states rights?

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 13, 2010 -> 02:27 PM) They haven't loved anyone in KC since Sweeney left. Greinke is now the man in that city, the Royals begin and end with him. It was supposed to be Gordon, but that hasn't materialized (Univ. of Nebraska product, like Mauer and Twin Cities). If Moustakas or Hosmer can make it, they have a chance to be the new Royals heroes....but that city is so desperate for a winner, they'll cheer almost anyone. Greinke and DeJesus. Their fans have a good sense of humor though. edit: nebraska is not in missouri or kansas.
  23. having a separate ipod is much more convenient for bbqs and parties.
  24. QUOTE (Soxy @ Apr 13, 2010 -> 01:47 PM) No, they aren't lectures. At least in the cases of Practicums and Service Learning they are hands on field experiences that, when done thoughtfully, ask the student to reflect on their experience while integrating concepts from their classes and majors. There is nothing lecture-y about it when done properly. And yes, the type of instructor matters. An increased over-reliance on ad-hoc faculty (because of their cheapness) is hurting the quality of higher education. As long as they are adding more flat screens they'll stay high on US news and World Reports list though.
