  1. he was usually 1-2 mph ahead of the indians hitters.
  2. bullpens solid, i just worry about having a longman, but I think we'll figure that out. Not many games need one.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 6, 2010 -> 09:21 PM) Except it really isn't a mispronounciation... That is how it gets said on the south side. indeed, a hard "n" that can also sound like a "t". My great unk used to work at the fire house near comiskey and that's all i heard them say. As a white bread suburbaner with no accent, i was confused.
  4. After just watching five minutes of sportsnation, i wanted to kill myself.
  5. that's fine, but can rios, with bases loaded, beat out his slow roller that was nearly a double play?
  6. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Apr 6, 2010 -> 05:35 AM) Every original Beach Boy besides maybe Al Jardine and dead Carl Wilson is/was a pretty big douchebag. They have all sued each other and then they made up ad nauseum. . . lather, rinse, repeat. yeah but mike love suing brian wilson over the smile cover was the height of i'm an asshole named mike love and bmags will remember this.

  8. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Apr 6, 2010 -> 08:54 PM) Mark Kotsay is not going to hit .300, he did that once in his career when he was 28 years old, he's not that talented of a hitter. The last time he was healthy was his age 29 and 30 seasons (ie: a hitter's prime) and he put up a .278/.329/.405/.734 line (average of 11 HR). Shockingly the last time he got at least 400 PA in a season (age 32) he hit .276/.329/.403/.732 with 6 HR, or almost exactly what he hit the last time he wasn't beat up. Personally, I'm putting Alex Rios 5th. I'm not cowering at the thought of a sidearmer (Pat Nechek and ?) coming in and mowing down my best hitters, Mark Kotsay's weakass bat isn't likely to save the day in that scenario. At least this way I have a potential run producer in a run producer's role and not a 34 year old journeyman slap hitter masquerading as a run producer. Janson Lewis (not a sidearmer) doesn't scare me enough to give away potential RBI situations in the first 6 innings of a game. word. I you know, won't look it up, but i can't imagine that Kotsay's stats vs. RHP are better than Rios.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 6, 2010 -> 08:41 PM) AJ's OPS since he joined the sox, starting in 05 .728 .769 .712 .728 .755 Kotsay hasn't played regularly because of injury for a couple seasons, so it's hard to give numbers on what we might get from him, especially if we're careful enough to keep him healthy. But he put up a .732 in 2008, and a .783 with the Sox last year. I'll be the first to admit "Sample size!", but if Kotsay hits like a .300 hitter, we're talkign ab out 10-20 points of OPS difference at the worst. AJ and Kotsay seem like pretty similar hitters when it comes to OPS. You can't get me mad about that one right now, the numbers just don't back it up. In your scenario, all a manager has to do is see that Kotsay doesn't hit RHP well, and realize it's worth the risk to minimize the effects of CQ and Konerko. We knew the lack of good LH hitter was going to be a problem this year, but putting an awful LH hitter in a good spot doesn't help much either in any other way than that it theoretically makes sense to split up our righties.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 6, 2010 -> 08:38 PM) The biggest misconception about Kotsay that I can't stand is that he's fast. He almost got doubled up yesterday with the bases loaded on a slow chopper to 2nd base that wasn't turned quickly at all. hey, as hawk told us that was a great at bat
  11. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 6, 2010 -> 07:45 PM) *sticks with his trusted VAIO* it'd be silly to torrent on something with such low memory. Your ratios would be EFFED
  12. in addition, it seems to be that these reporters were working independent and had not alerted the military where they would be.
  13. was anyone else disgusted when kevin love was a big deal and they kept slurpin on mike love even though mike love's the biggest douchebag that has sued brian wilson at every turn.
  14. no. Dude is washed up. I'd rather try and develop some talent behind cutler.
  15. to be honest i don't think i've ever worn any other color besides black at a sox game anyways. Still rockin the black sox jersey i got in seventh grade with three missing buttons.
  16. today was really great, i was at home and on opening day you can see way more games on basic cable than normal. But yeah, it really is exciting to get to see the players you hear all the time about. Seeing Heyward's home run was awesome, the guy just looks so comfortable at the plate already. Atlanta's gonna have a monster, in the good way.
  17. Yeah, i wish the game with peavy was tomorrow...i'm gonna be so bored.
  18. i want to also talk about how much fun it was to watch thornton those first 8 pitches.
