  1. yeah he's pretty bad. And yeah, he double clutches a lot. But the good thing is we signed him long term.
  2. hahaha.
  3. and, you know, our people in the prime of their careers to not hit like mendoza in the prime of his.
  4. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 30, 2010 -> 07:11 PM) in the next couple months. what has congress acted on that has happened this quickly. I should say the senate, which apparently is the whole congress now.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 1, 2010 -> 03:22 AM) Watched an excellent documentary on netflix instant watch tonight. 'We Live in Public' Highly recommended. word, saw that at columbia missouri's "true/false film festival" which is an awesome event if any of you are cool and like nice s***.

yeah, not getting it. So because something has been around a long time and sucks means that it's not to be questioned or changed because it's been around a long time and sucks and people know it? Sounds brilliant.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 30, 2010 -> 02:10 PM) At the end of the day it isn't like they were annexed. The rules have been there long before anyone here was born. The zone was created for a very specific reason. Then again it isn't like there is much state based influence left in this country anyway. so?

QUOTE (G&T @ Apr 30, 2010 -> 11:42 AM) It was created specifically to house the federal government. When created, I think the point was to keep it away from state influences. Of course, all of that is moot today. well, not really but besides that, you'd still have the federal district, but could make a state easily for the 600,000 routinely f***ed from true representation and constant tugging with congress. Their population is comparable to SD or MT

    why not D.C., btw?
  11. out of curiosity, wouldn't that just get overturned too.
  12. things are really clicking!
  13. sorry to harp on this, but i just had whiskey... There was an accusation that the people criticizing not picking up a power LH hitter this offseason was just a safeguard because if our players sucked we could say "i told you so" and if our players rocked we could just be like "oh well...this is great" but i'm imagining you, flash tizzle, are the embodiment of the "i told you so" not bringing any pleasure to a fan who just wants to get to the playoffs. The "our scouting and minors are horrendous" was your calling card for years even as people tried to sell you that it was fine since we could trade them.
  14. GUYS IT IS JUST THE FACT THAT IT IS STILL COLD CHILL DUDES
  15. i'm glad JR has a comfortable relationship with himself.
  16. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 03:56 AM) I'm not saying I think it's likely, but I think it's still a possibility. I take it you're already writing off the season then? No...but god damn. Every season we've made the playoffs we started off hot. Every season we haven't, we started poor, and never really this poor...s***, in 2007 i'm pretty sure we made it over .500 and damn close to first place for a bit before our bullpen went crazy. It's frustrating because you just feel like logic has no control. In the offseason as you beg and scream that you can't rely on these players that are not reliable. That you should run a team praying for career offensive years from players that aren't consistent...it's just embarrassing. At least the 2002-2004 teams could mash. The 2007 and likely 2010...ain't nothin f***ing fun about this s***.
  17. i think the oddest thing is that this team is ozzies. He's said as much, it's clear. This was the ozzie in 2004 that would say you can't win the derby with a donkey. How the f*** do you campaign to get a roster full of s***ty players just because ... yeah, it's easier because you can rest them easier. Like he found this one annoying part of his job and obsessed over it until it became his sole focus. Like a manager of a restaurant who ignored the food and focused solely on the annoyance of juggling schedules, until he hired a bunch of s***ty waiters because they had the most flexible hours. It's embarrassing. But...yeah. Um. At least the DH isn't singlehandedly causing this team to self-destruct...other players suck too. Rongey was right.
  18. anyone remember in 2001 when von joshua was fired despite our offense being awesome the year before? Yeahhhhh
  19. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 03:20 AM) A lot of our guys are going to bounce back and there's still time to make up for this terrible start. the amount of god damn times i've heard this the past decade is embarrassing.
  20. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 08:30 PM) Yes, but if voting laws in CA are like here in FL with closed primaries then you won't be able to vote in the Dem primaries if you are a registered GOP. And when you realize you are registered to the wrong party it may be too lat to get it corrected to be able to vote. I would show my revolt by voting Fiorino.
  21. well yeah, i'm pretty scared to lose the benefits i'd get from medicare and ss.
  22. QUOTE (The Baconator @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 04:18 AM) It's sad to say, but it generally seems like he's the 'Randy Moss' of baseball (though he doesn't have the relative all-star capability that Moss has, if you can relate that across sports). He seems to be the guy that has the skills to really excel at his position if he can 'figure it out'. Moss seems to have settled into a solid role after a shaky start; I'm hoping Alexei is just experiencing those same growing pains and can break through that cloud. If he can, he can be something really special. I suspect Omar is here to really try to 'ground' him and keep him focused; I just hope it works. randy moss was consistently awesome his first 5 years in the league.
  23. ugh, my stomach is in knots.
