  1. The 2019 offseason is such a defining moment of the end of the JR/KW/Hahn era. After finally clearing the decks, playing bare minimum salaries for a few years, they got to play in a market for 2 young, marquee free agents that rarely become available during a time when they Red Sox, Yankees and dodgers largely tapped out due to their years in the tax. And most of all, it would finally answer years long holes in 3b/2b and RF that we had tried to plug with c level free agents. Three years later, our RF is being filled with powerless DHs. Hahn wasted $16 million to try and fill it with an aging, oft injured vet. 2B is occupied by a 35 year old bargain bin free agent. We’ve dfa’d tens of millions and gotten 0 production in our quest to show the other owners that it’s UNWISE to break the bank on one player. It’s better to waste your money over several players as a retirement gift to them.
  2. So how does this lottery work. We got a shot at 1 here?
  3. Please don’t boycott I need people to buy my tickets
  4. this loss is somewhat nice just because it's such a hahn special. All the failures of this game. That its joe kelly melting down. That a star (relatively) home grown pitcher excelling heroically and losing behind a decrepit, shallow team. Chefs kiss.
  5. not new either. If you watched the astros series last year, you had to say "this team needs more of that, that is what we need more of".
  6. think this game is def. my breaking point. just a perfect encapsulation of this team.
  7. I never thought we'd have a more unwatchable team than 2015...but this is it.
  8. There has been some excellent pitching out of DSL lately, but hard to know if any of it means there is a guy there. Loidell's 2fer3
  9. Avila always was a weird hire. Like Dick Williams with the Reds, Avila was an old school guy trying to learn new concepts, but you really don't want a learning curve in a rebuild. Just get the real thing.
  10. His bat speed is really noticeably crazy
  11. wouldn't it be better if pringle is in the slot and velus bumps down to 4? I still have low low expectations for EQ St Brown in terms of real production, but him and pringle are damn good run blockers (unless I'm misremembering and it was Harry that was better at RB). Still hoping our running offense is a big deal.
  12. yes, joe borchard failed 20 years ago and that's why you shouldn't bring up players from the minor leagues.
  13. Carlos isn't the type of prospect you worry about his development. Considering how much of his ability to stick will be on work with pitchers, I'd just bring him up if we decide Yas can't hack it.
  14. It was pretty astonishing how bad he was his entire minor league career. There was like no point he was remotely productive.
  15. finally, sounds like a great day for offense.
  16. holy smokes, didn't see that. Yeah, I'd still take wes kath 100 times out of 100 over jason friggen bilous.
  17. Thompson's fastball seems good enough that he really should have at least a bullpen future, which is nice.
  18. I’m a little surprised, this is the big update? Seems like the draftees just pushed in. BA updates monthly now, though, so I’m not that hung up on it. Also just pretty sure Sosa is legit, albeit needing some patience, so don’t care too much. We know a lot about the kid.
  19. Luis Mieses, double #600
  20. Former FSU pitcher Jonah Scolaro was signed by Sox from an American Baseball league team, had a pretty sweet debut.
