  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 6, 2009 -> 04:39 PM) Complicated question. Depends on how long he stays up for. that's what she said
  2. does bringing up Hudson now change anything in his arbitration schedule?
  3. QUOTE (KipWellsFan @ Aug 5, 2009 -> 11:09 PM) Those are pretty stunning allegations, but at this point just that. Do I really believe this Prince guy is acting like ruthless dictator or mob boss? All the same I'm very disturbed by the idea of a large private military ran by a right wing religous nut. well all stories of blackwater has shown a degree of lawlessness. So this wouldn't shock me, and mob boss wouldn't be entirely inaccurate
  4. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 5, 2009 -> 07:01 PM) I just don't see Ozzie doing that though. Correct me if I'm wrong, I was out of state for the latter half of 05, but when Frank went down he did rotate our DH spot, no? Everett played the field sometimes I thought.
  5. I thought the interview would be funny, but yeah, that did look uncomfortable. I'm sure that's not something you'd want getting to your mother.
  6. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Aug 5, 2009 -> 05:57 PM) i hear ya. i think thats what KW and Ozzie want for next year. Have Konerko, Dye and Quentin DH while also playing at their respected positions through out the course of the year. I really like how this would balance our team out.
  7. It sounded more like "no it started on some blog or something"
  8. prophetic thread title or what, eh lostfan? Give me some love
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 3, 2009 -> 06:26 PM) It would have been stronger to say the money from Carlos Lee's contract brought a championship that Valentin, Lee, Ordonez and Thomas (out for most of that season) didn't.... Carlos LEE they are talking about the Lee contract with Houston.
  10. Not a fan of this article. It was a weird way to frame the salary argument. Why bring up Carlos Lee as your example when he is meeting expectations, and therefore, arguably, living up to the numbers on his deal. Why not bring up a real suck contract with a bad player.
  11. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Aug 1, 2009 -> 05:06 PM) Pretty difficult to disagree with you there.
  12. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 1, 2009 -> 06:27 AM) I think DeLuca makes a good point: I'm sorry but looking what we gave up, it wasn't really anyone I was excited about long term. I mean, poreda COULD be matt thornton? I mean, this isn't the bartolo colon raping, but we didn't trade anyone that would be a major asset to our team. Best chance is Carter.
  13. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 09:57 PM) This deal isn't for this year, just remember that. When the Sox want to start making the transition, having this big four to build around is going to make things a hell of alot easier. PEAVY IS OUR JOSE CONTRERAS (of 04)
  14. still kind of sucks we have to wait for him to pitch.
  15. Ha, I swear they are just pissed they didn't call this. the only thing they report on is stuff they can give their names credit for.
  16. QUOTE (League @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 03:48 AM) We'd be well on our way to 162-0. awesome.
  17. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 12:29 AM) Along the lines of the 9/11 troothers, there's conspiracy theories about the British government planning the London train bombings and the Spanish ETA bombings. There was a this american life on this that was painful to listen to.
  18. oh man, I laughed so hard at the bolded part. Per CNN "In Barrett's e-mail, which was posted on a Boston television station's Web site, he declared that if he had "been the officer he verbally assaulted like a banana-eating jungle monkey, I would have sprayed him in the face with OC (oleoresin capsicum, or pepper spray) deserving of his belligerent non-compliance." Barrett used the "jungle monkey" phrase four times, three times referring to Gates and once referring to Abraham's writing as "jungle monkey gibberish." He also declared that he was "not a racist but I am prejudice [sic] towards people who are stupid and pretend to stand up and preach for something they say is freedom but it is merely attention because you do not get enough of it in your little fear-dwelling circle of on-the-bandwagon followers." Barrett's comments were taken out of context, said his attorney, Peter Marano. "Officer Barrett did not call professor Gates a jungle monkey or malign him racially," Marano said. "He said his behavior was like that of one. It was a characterization of the actions of that man."
  19. It's just usually cookies aren't animate objects with rusty aluminum bats beating the s*** out of things and bleeding when you eat them.
