    QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 3, 2009 -> 06:26 PM) It would have been stronger to say the money from Carlos Lee's contract brought a championship that Valentin, Lee, Ordonez and Thomas (out for most of that season) didn't.... Carlos LEE they are talking about the Lee contract with Houston.

    Not a fan of this article. It was a weird way to frame the salary argument. Why bring up Carlos Lee as your example when he is meeting expectations, and therefore, arguably, living up to the numbers on his deal. Why not bring up a real suck contract with a bad player.
  9. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Aug 1, 2009 -> 05:06 PM) Pretty difficult to disagree with you there.
  10. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 1, 2009 -> 06:27 AM) I think DeLuca makes a good point: I'm sorry but looking what we gave up, it wasn't really anyone I was excited about long term. I mean, poreda COULD be matt thornton? I mean, this isn't the bartolo colon raping, but we didn't trade anyone that would be a major asset to our team. Best chance is Carter.
  11. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 09:57 PM) This deal isn't for this year, just remember that. When the Sox want to start making the transition, having this big four to build around is going to make things a hell of alot easier. PEAVY IS OUR JOSE CONTRERAS (of 04)
  12. still kind of sucks we have to wait for him to pitch.
  13. Ha, I swear they are just pissed they didn't call this. the only thing they report on is stuff they can give their names credit for.
  14. QUOTE (League @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 03:48 AM) We'd be well on our way to 162-0. awesome.

    QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 12:29 AM) Along the lines of the 9/11 troothers, there's conspiracy theories about the British government planning the London train bombings and the Spanish ETA bombings. There was a this american life on this that was painful to listen to.
  16. oh man, I laughed so hard at the bolded part. Per CNN "In Barrett's e-mail, which was posted on a Boston television station's Web site, he declared that if he had "been the officer he verbally assaulted like a banana-eating jungle monkey, I would have sprayed him in the face with OC (oleoresin capsicum, or pepper spray) deserving of his belligerent non-compliance." Barrett used the "jungle monkey" phrase four times, three times referring to Gates and once referring to Abraham's writing as "jungle monkey gibberish." He also declared that he was "not a racist but I am prejudice [sic] towards people who are stupid and pretend to stand up and preach for something they say is freedom but it is merely attention because you do not get enough of it in your little fear-dwelling circle of on-the-bandwagon followers." Barrett's comments were taken out of context, said his attorney, Peter Marano. "Officer Barrett did not call professor Gates a jungle monkey or malign him racially," Marano said. "He said his behavior was like that of one. It was a characterization of the actions of that man."
  17. It's just usually cookies aren't animate objects with rusty aluminum bats beating the s*** out of things and bleeding when you eat them.
  18. going to extremes to make a point is incredibly annoying because you aren't debating with the people in front of you, you are ignoring them and taking them to a field they aren't playing on, don't want to play on, and can't understand even what you are talking about.
  19. QUOTE (GO CHI SOX! @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 06:00 PM) I feel the exact opposite, Knapp may not be ready for a couple years, Carrasco and Donald are overrated, and Moreno may be decent. haha, I love these types of analysis.
  20. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 06:43 PM) I'm sure. Frankly though the lies have already had the intended effect so it doesn't matter what they say at this point. I agree. Conspiracy theories like these worry me.
  21. Lols. HOW CAN YOU TALK ABOUT HEART DISEASE KAP WHEN YOU EAT CHOLESTEROL
  22. so why don't you all just counter him instead?
  23. ljbl
  24. Kap, I certainly hope lithium is cheap in the new healthcare system.
  25. Knew this thread would be a hoot. Nevertheless, I've never had a problem while driving caused by a bike doing what what they are supposed to do. I pass them, at most with several cars ahead of me it takes less than a minute to get past him/her.
