  1. That's absurd.
  2. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 15, 2009 -> 01:04 PM) Wait, what? I said it had never worked? I don't think I'd say that. /drunk post
  3. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 15, 2009 -> 02:03 PM) Like Teddy Kennedy? Agreed. I can't imagine he's that big of an obstacle right now.
  4. a while ago I was talking about cap and trade and northsox said it had never worked, but, with SO2 I was under the impression that it worked rather well... and I don't believe I'm wrong. One thing wrong with our system is states with senators that they don't vote out, like WV, become a huge obstacle in moving the country forward. And I hate them.
  5. Obviously there are players I'd trade beckham straight up for.
  6. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 10:48 PM) Do the Blue Jays send a case of Vaseline with? this was pretty good.
  7. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 09:26 PM) Hedi and Spencer are really genesis, Sega or Phil Collins?
  8. I remember when Obama called rural americans "bitter" and nobody talked about it.
  9. SAY WHAT?!@?
  10. my paper keeps having these discussions about the online comments continually being derided by racist and ignorant comments. I just tell them that if they don't want hate-filled, childish, racist commentary in their comment section, they shouldn't have a comment section. The only times it works are in niche sites, usually involved in the technical aspects of something rather than general politics, fueled by emotion.
  11. if you are to look at real life, at a normal job, people accept workers leaving their position to take another one to better themselves. The same goes for the political field. I feel most like when elected officials from their area go on to bigger things. I, for one, was disappointed in L. Madigan's recent statement she won't be running for gov. or sen. But when you enter into a contract, in some cases, or a term, in this case, that you will be in this job for so many years before your evaluation by election, and instead quit - with no real calls for her removal from her constituents, but rather because she doesn't like the negatives of the job that go hand-in-hand, is a betrayal. She promised things and quit before she delivered them. Especially in a field of elected office, representing and working for the people, of which you are one, it is really absurd what she did. But she's the victim, I get it. She's crying all the way to the bank.

I'm going sunday. Any body else? I want to see women really bad, i fell in love with their s/t. (it goes without saying I'm excited for the later acts, I just hadn't realized who else was to be there)
  13. what if we offered a package of Broadway + a couple of other prospects for Halladay, would the blue jays bite?
  14. can we ban lostfan already?
  15. My friend just bought a fusion. I'll give you input when I see it.
  16. that's what happens when you follow a team and begin to like the players. I'm not a big albert belle fan, but he was way better than Joe Crede. But I've seen 5 joe crede walk-offs live in my life. More than any other player on the sox. It's not really homerific to root for a player. That's why you watch baseball.
  17. just tuned in. Didn't realize I could see this game.
  18. Constituent services are more like using your staff to help constituents with bureaucracy, in addition to stuff like sponsoring students for military academies and the like.
  19. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 10:40 PM) Durbin really isn't that bad... and I've actually called on him directly before, and he's helped me out. Well, his staff, same thing. Eh, reasoning like that is why so many congressman get re-elected.
  20. i must be the only one who remembers alan keyes vs. Obama in the senate race.
  21. i miss lance broadway/green
  22. haha that's hysterical.
  23. not sure if any really would affect me that much. Jordan would just make me reminisce a lot about what he did on the court. I think if a president got assassinated it would affect me the most, probably not to tears, but it's such a symbolic position for our country, it would be the worst of it.
  24. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 05:39 PM) Not to justify this, but attendance and public service positions aren't exactly the greatest of partners. Our state is currently operating without a budget, and yet the assembly is out of session for 2 weeks. How much sense does that make? In regards to budget I agree, but there's something to be said for reps to have time to get back to their constituencies. It's not a two week vacation.
  25. Our dept. of law is so wise.
