Gov. Palin Resigns (Quits)
QUOTE (Texsox @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 01:30 PM) Well Hillary Palin is the one that the Dems GOP wants to run. They have been salivating for four years to have her at the top of the ticket. I know I was so annoyed whenever people would make the comment about all Dems love Hillary, etc. Weren't you a hillary supporter?

The Democrat Thread
probably the most ineffectual leader in the history of this country that gets a load of s*** from the other side for taking the country in the wrong direction. Reid takes no one in any direction. He merely is.

Gov. Palin Resigns (Quits)
Put me down for one of the people who wouldn't want her being the R candidate in 2012. I don't care if she'd likely lose in a landslide, the fact that the is part of the 50/50 that COULD win scares the s*** out of me. I'd rather have someone I'd hate and live with, than someone I'd be scared for my life with.

Gov. Palin Resigns (Quits)
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 11:10 PM) Spin making the rounds: She is resigning because: Basically, the line is that she's quitting because the AK Democrats and the media were too mean to her. does someone hear a violin?

Gov. Palin Resigns (Quits)
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 11:02 PM) There are 2 ways it makes sense to me. She's facing some sort of investigation for something she actually did and she's ducking and covering first so that others take the blame, or she's going to declare for the Alaskan Senate Seat primary. Otherwise, this is very odd. For the latter, I SERIOUSLY don't see how resigning helps that AT ALL. The ® in the primary can just hold against her that she hadn't gone more than 2.5 years in to her run as governor, and likely won't last as Sen (2012).

Gov. Palin Resigns (Quits)
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 10:18 PM) This is not overly complicated, it seems to me. Palin's popularity in Alaska has been plummeting. The last thing she wants is to lose an election, or look unpopular. Cutting her losses to protect her image. I suppose there is a chance there is something brewing we don't know of, but, I think the above is more obvious and simple. but even so, at it's face it looks like she's quitting because of investigations and media scrutiny. That effectively ends her chances of ever getting elected to a higher office than governor, though she may be able to go for mayor! This is just the end of a terrible farce we've dealt with for months. edit: seriously, look at her speech: millions of your dollars are being wasted, so I'm quitting, I can do more change from the outside. Bulls***.

Gov. Palin Resigns (Quits)
from palin's speech: "Political operatives descended on Alaska last August, digging for dirt. The ethics law I championed became their weapon of choice. Over the past nine months I've been accused of all sorts of frivolous ethics violations - such as holding a fish in a photograph, wearing a jacket with a logo on it, and answering reporters' questions." Yup, you nailed all the ethical scandals you were accused of in that paragraph!

Gov. Palin Resigns (Quits)
it's so much easier to use your current position to gain positive PR/name recognition, however. I don't buy it, at all. I don't think this has anything to do with shoring up more time to run.

Gov. Palin Resigns (Quits)
from talkingpointsmemo.com "Wow. It just gets better and better. Apparently one of Palin's rationale's for resigning is that she would not stand by while so many taxpayer dollars were being spent investigating her."

Gov. Palin Resigns (Quits)
QUOTE (Texsox @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 08:58 PM) By not running and then running for President? It would answer those critics that argue when someone runs for President while holding office, they are cheating their constituents of leadership. She's not just not running, she's resigning. You can just as easily say she is backing out of her commitment to alaskans. Plus she could've tried to accomplish more in a year to stiffen up her policy resume.

Gov. Palin Resigns (Quits)
QUOTE (Texsox @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 08:52 PM) She can create a better base for a Presidential run freed from her role as Governor. I can't think of any examples of this happening though.

Something has to be up, you don't normally leave your current office to gear up for higher office. You merely stop doing your job, but you keep the title!

Ozzie worst manager?
A bit concerning, seeing as how the other two are good in-game managers (though I haven't watched a Pineilla team in a while), while Ozzie seems to be a club house manager. I've like how Ozzie seems to know when to put all the crap on himself and off the team, but he leaves a lot to be desired in managing the games. Oddly enough, in the 2005 playoffs I thought he managed it brilliantly but that's probably just because every piece fell into place for 12 games.

Gov. Sanford
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 30, 2009 -> 08:14 PM) He's also saying that the affair(s) have gone on since at least 2001. Clearly, they began after Sanford was broken hearted about that Obama dude not being allowed inside the Dem convention in 2000. Everytime anything happens to Obama, good or bad, Sanford's heart just breaks and he seeks the comfort of another woman. awesome
