back in 94 kanye would've been 17 years old, who cares. Kanye was inspired by NO ID and influenced by him no doubt, but of the two common classics, imo, resurrection and Be, they both pretty different, i wouldn't call kanye just a knockoff. On FF i think he was doing odes to jdilla and no id and it came off a little unfocused but I still enjoyed it quite a bit. I still think kanye's best beat is Cam'Ron's dope man. s*** is awesome.

tampa bay's experience is really showign right now. We are just too new to this game to know how to get the first overall pick.

people put way too much on this fifty-kanye thing, I disagree they would've sold more if they debuted different days, it's not a movie, where people will choose either/or, just getting people to the record store is more important.

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Sep 13, 2007 -> 09:59 PM) False. Even the 106 and park crowd in new york was chanting Kanye's name when both him and 50 cent were on the set sitting together. And 50 uses the same argument of his first 2 albums having sold more than Kanye's, but he should know that it's "what have you done for me lately." i think your talking about songs though, we're talking about technique.

fifty hasn't made an album since his debut.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 12, 2007 -> 09:34 PM) Really now? Thats pretty funny. Kanye made most of his traction as a producer, because frankly, his flow isnt as good as other rappers. On top of that, 50's first album sold 3 times as much as Kanye's His second album, more than 3 times that of Kanye. Kanye is a good artist for people who shy away from the brashness of an artist like 50 cent, and is brilliant in his own way. But you will be very hard pressed to find people that are ACTUALLY immersed in the hip hop world to say that Kanye is the better rapper. He is def the better producer, but that tracks are better when someone like Jay-Z does the track. as far as flow, fifty edges kanye pretty hard. But as far as lyrics, Personally, i don't have a problem when lil wayne and kanye have heavy word play like apologin, i think its fun and no different than slang. BUt as far as what 50 raps about, he's boring. He's all bravado, he's not more hardcore, or anything like that, he just has nothing to say, anymore. I think someone was right when they say "got rich and stopped trying" i think he's relying on past performance too much. Kanye raps introspectively and has funny lines, and talks about family and life, which is obviously because he doesn't come from the projects or anything. But to me that's what makes kanye a better rapper than fifty, he has something to say. Jay had something to say. Clipse had something to say, which makes talking of pushin blow accessible to me, because it's just the aesthetic of the story, not the deep meaning. Kanye taking the lead for having the mainstream single is f***in right on, but its funny, because its FIDDY whose supposed to have the singles. Amusement park failed hardcore, his only single dragging weight this summer was Ayo technology, which is basically buying a hit, asking JT and Timbaland to produce. Just my 2¢

QUOTE(Yossarian @ Sep 12, 2007 -> 12:06 AM) Is this worth having the worst record in baseball? Number 1 picks did that list somehow look bad to you? It had some of the best players to ever play the game in the last 15 years on there and the majority made it to the big leagues.

bittersweet was trash. Drunk n hot girls is great, people jus aren't expecting it.
-
I like lil wayne a lot but barry bonds was disappointing. great song, but disappointing.

106th and Park was pretty great, Jay-Z came out after 'Big Brother' and did a few verses off of 'Encore'. Bought 'Graduation' at our local store, kanye was edging out fiddy 16-2. Fiddy and Ye both came out at the end. I knew 'stronger' sounded tighter on the album, i guess timbaland worked on the drums more. nice to have a high quality rip.
-
it's not much of a feud. Fiddy was even in the studio with kanye during the making of his album and kanye quotes him warmly in one of his songs. Kanye has stated he's a fan of fiddy. They even showed up on stage at the VMA's together. "When I heard that thing about the debate, I thought that was the stupidest thing. When my albums drops and 50's album drops, you're gonna get a lot of good music at the same time." - kanye west.
-
right, nobody would turn into a music award show to see an artist with one of the top singles of the summer. Good point.
-
i love how people get mad over this instead of finding it funny.

it's very busy tonight.

QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Sep 6, 2007 -> 11:07 PM) I hate Timbaland, but he was involved with the new M.I.A. record and I heart it. not really. He only came for one track, come around, which was a bonus track. Switch and Diplo and mya herself were the producers.

when kanye actually raps he's probably the most modest rapper you will find. In this album alone see everything i am, big brother, and can't tell me nothing. Let alone roses, addiction, touch the sky on LR and all falls down, family business and never let me down. I find the negativity against him hilarious, when a rockstar is arrogant to the press it used to be funny, when a rap star does it he's just an arrogant thug. Meanwhile our rockstars are now boring ass suburbanites that just love their fans so much!! ANd they were treated badly in high school! Kanye's evolution has been really interesting, and he takes a lot of chances with beats in his album, as seen by the daft punk and can samples. And as funny as the kanye hate is in this thread, the JT hate in the other thread is equally embarrassing to read. OMG YOU CAN"T LIKE JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE. Kid's a lot more talented than most of the bulls*** I hear, and he makes enjoyable pop music in the likes of Michael Jackson did decades before. A good pop song is harder to make than people give credit for. ANd his collaborations with the neptunes and timbaland have added legitimacy to his vocal talents, that seemed wishy washy behind the casio beats in nsync.
