  1. Christ what is the point of these salary web sites if they can't get basic shit like this updated
  2. Man that is not the move I'd make if I was the angels.
  3. He's definitely a FA.
  4. I mean, he probably is, but he was -0.3 here. I don't know, I think BP is the most critical at appraising their catching stats year over year and trying to verify so I take them with the most validity. However, I'd venture to rely more on the fact that Maldonado is very good at defense. That said, you look at the top catchers and Salvy is amazing in these, so it clearly is aligned decently and Maldonado had a lot of chances. No idea, but I think we'd be happy if we signed Maldonado. My personal preference is to go Chirinos/Perez battle for backup. I'm a big believer that we have a Major Leaguer in Carlos Perez, not a starter, but a guy we can have on our bench for a long time.
  5. Also last I checked neither of those cases were Yoan Moncada.
  6. So I exported the BP Catcher Stats and sorted them by the Free agent catchers. Here's some good-to-knows (this is 2021 only) Best FA catchers rated at blocking: Yan Gomez (.4 Blocking Runs) Roberto Peres (.2 Blocking Runs) Alex Avila (.2 Blocking runs) Austin Romine (.1 Blocking runs) Sandy Leon (.1 Blocking Runs For Context: Yaz 0.0 so...uh err Seby -0.2 Zack -0.6 Best rated at Throwing out runners Kurt Suzuki - 0.3 Wilson Ramos - 0.1 Stephen Vogt - 0.1 Jose Lobaton - 0.1 For Context: Zack Collins - 0.4 Yaz - 0.1 Seby - 0.0 (BP takes into account Best rated at Framing Maldonado - 2.3 Vogt - 1.7 Knapp - 1.2 Mathis - 0.7 Vaille - 0.1 For Context: Yaz - 3.1 Seby - 0.7 Zack - -10.1 Overall Defensive Adjustment Maldonado - 1.8 Vogt - 1.8 Knapp - 0.4 (Yaz was 3.2, Seby 0.0) Offensive wRC+ for those catchers: Maldonado - 63 (steamer projection - 73) Vogt - 64 (steamer projection - 83) Knapp - 17 (steamer projection - 72) (Seby - 66 with steamer projection of 60) Robinson Chirinos has a negative CDA of 0.3 (essentially he is completely average in all categories) with a wRC last year of 108 and a steamer of 85. I think looking at this, you are probably best off throwing ST invites at Chirinos, but maybe a ML deal to Vogt. There would be good reason to go after Yan Gomez, he provides nearly average offense and good blocking, but BP hates his framing and throwing, which could be an issue.
  7. Nice you made the back to back. I have been fighting a cold but woke up almost giddy to check the box score to see what I missed. Was not shocked to see the Bulls smack them. It is crazy night after night seeing DeRozan get 20 points easy in first half and 35+ for the game. I have very little hope of our center-less, power forward-less team stopping Jokic and the Nuggets, but feel like we should have no problem with Portland. Famous last words.
  8. 2 years 8 mill
  9. The article mentions he just signed an extension in 2020.
  10. for catcher, I think we'll get "competition". I'd like to throw a ST invite to Robinson Chirinos.
  11. Baseball Savant has him at excellent at second base (95% percentile) last year. FRAA likes him a good bit. Fangraphs only has him slightly positive.
  12. My take is that in february people will be yearning for an offseason this good
  13. Definitely possible, didn't come across that way though. I can't believe KW is in his 60s!
  14. Well, depending on what JR does I wouldn't be shocked if Hahn bumps up and Haber takes over as GM.
  15. fortunately, I hated the cesar trade so I am in fact the straight shooter you all need to assess opinions.
  16. OBP of that team, so fun .340 .340 .380 .420 .350 .374 .303 .345 .374 Good pop on bench of Romy, Sheets, Engel.
  17. Sorry for derailing but I'm still laughing at forgetting I signed schwarber but I am still pleased that I got 195 million to this: Anderson R Lowe L Robert R Grandal S Abreu R Schwarber L Eloy R Conforto L Moncada S Very pleased with the balance AND would put TWO .375 OBP guys AHEAD of Anderson. With Schwarber and Eloy you have extreme power to help clear the bases of Abreu/Grandal's slowness. I'm fairly certain I recreated the 27 yankees. However, yeah, yeah "the rays aren't trading lowe" ok sure and "you forgot several important players even existed" okay Pal. And sure, there is no minors system to speak of.
  18. Oof, I don't know. For whatever reason summertime I'm often in the car during Inside the Clubhouse w/levine. Spiegel provides all the knowledge, levine says so much garbage that makes it unclear whether he watches baseball at all, but especially lacks awareness of anything outside Chicago. Do I think he talks to people, yes. But as I've said many times, you could have a direct source to hahn and still be bad at prediciting sox moves without context of their tendencies and what the rest of the market does.
  19. And in support of Sox interviewing Harris, he became the Cubs 3rd base coach after that, when he was just a low-level minor league manager. Willie got that job, but it is a nice way to boost candidates. I thought it was nice of sox to do.
  20. Notable: Kenny Williams in this says his current contract will be his last. I feel for Williams, but it's hard not to look at the org underneath him and wonder what pipeline he is building. Hahn, Fabian, Haber, Hostetler, Shirley, Koenig. I do not know Zein well. Paddy is excellent, and they did move Steverson into a role. But other than that, Kenny's son was hired.
  21. Would be huge to go into the offseason feeling good about two young tackles. Boy, let's target a center then huh?
  22. We’re still paying attention to that guy huh. Remember when the Kimbrel trade was breaking and he made the reasonable guess that Crochet was going back, only to say “Woops sorry! He was discussed but Sox went a different direction’ Among many other (all) posts. If you guys are desperate, I will post an inspirational Sox are active post each day
  23. My other thoughts are, while I share in the assessment that this team needs to get another big, I think I believe now that they are good enough that they can wait until February when the buyouts start to happen and trade market heats up. I don't think they'll drown by being too small unless DDR or Zach miss a lot of time.
  24. Especially because they were obtuse to the context. Who was Zach supposed to share the ball with last year, Ryan Arcidiacano?
