  1. Right, and frankly sox with their system are likely going to try to be the last girl at the dance (for lack of a better phrase, there has to be better ones than that). Hell, even get on the phone with LAA, no way they are buying 5th in wildcard with a 5 game deficit. Get Jose Iglesias over here to play 2b as last option. It's not hard to find stop gap 2b.
  2. 100%. It was once really useful, but then it becomes a pain to get rid of as every locale throws a stink about radioactive waste disposal until you sweeten the deal enough that you move around to the best deal over and over. But you were once a source of energy, powering caulfields tortured keyboard to keep going for one more name.
  3. It's a half-life play. Trade for hosmer at 80% of his salary to get X prospect (to trade elsewhere). Trade Hosmer at 50% of his 80% paid salary to team next year. Eventually you get enough teams subsidizing him that he becomes worth it. By 2025 you have 10 teams paying 95% of his salary to be a 2 WAR resurgent player on Billy Beane's Las Vegas As
  4. SD gets: Kade McClure Micker Adolfo White Sox get Hosmer Turner Hudson Nationals get: Mackenzie Gore Crochet Jake Burger Vera Ramos
  5. I'm a little concerned about bullpen costs. If you've been looking around baseball, the white sox are not alone in needing help in bullpen. Thank God we signed Hendriks. The astros have been melting down there as well. Yankees too. The Red sox may very well be where they are at because they've been extremely good at bullpen production with barnes and ottavino. When you look at a lot of the bad teams, so few even have decent bullpen pieces. Our best bullpen help is likely just hoping that bummer+heuer get on track. Otherwise I just hope a Hudson can find his way here.
  6. Also it is really hard to look at Story's offensive struggles and think "I am going to get the real trevor story for the next 2+ months". His July has been awful. And maybe the move to a team that is about winning instead of worrying about your contract helps, but, not really the kind of offensive performance you want to see out of a rental.
  7. Gio Gonzalez turned out to be the best player offered, there was a good review of all the rumored trade packages and the sox actually ended up in most future WAR, but miller probably surpassed that - not sure you'd count it since it was post marlins anyway. but funny enough David Samson with his new podcast did a whole thing on this trade and the white sox weren't even mentioned: https://www.fishstripes.com/2020/4/29/21241283/miguel-cabrera-trade-details-tigers-marlins-david-samson
  8. Well, if you can package Hudson in too, and avoid Kopech, it is closer. It really gets down to if there is any package that avoids Kopech and Vaughn and is still enough for Wash to me.
  9. Ben Cherington is doing Ben Cherington things in Pitt. Probably a good match for his philosophy, guy has a great feel for scouting and drafting. Love Pittsburgh as a city and stadium, here's to them going on the way up and not being any sort of obstacle to the sox.
  10. I do want to say I am break my own rule on a competitive team of only add never subtract (from mlb roster), and so am likely wrong here.
  11. well yes it will take a big package but obviously they aren't going to say " we are looking to move trea at any cost".
  12. probably true. But the most effective major league pieces that avoid this are a package around Madrigal, Crochet. Does a Madrigal, Crochet, Burger, Vera, and Kelley package get it done for Turner + Hudson? Probably not. Seattle could bust out Julio Ramirez and it just busts it open. But if you replace Madrigal with either Vaughn or Kopech it probably gets you to the end. It sorta reminds me of the 07-08 offseason where sox shouldn't really have been able to put a package together for Cabrera, nearly did, then a package that prospect-wise was superior in every way blew it out of the water, only to find out 5 years later that the sox package would have been the best for the marlins in terms of total major league value.
  13. Uh when there are like 6 all star SS available in FA? Terrible idea
  14. I disagree. Turner is the level of talent that papers over weaknesses. He is on an mvp level this year, and all we would need for next year and a half is set up men.
  15. I went into trade season thinking/hoping the outdated reports on the Sox prospects wouldn’t match the industry, but it’s clear at this point soxtalk is way higher on our prospects, and the terrible year from the high school prospects destroyed our trade inventory. it doesn’t mean they are busts, but it was really bad timing to suck so bad. Meanwhile, I still think our system will be more productive in producing major league pieces than it currently suggests with the 40 FVs, but all we have for tools is a few loud power guys with awful hit tools.
  16. Guys in the same vein as our beloved fake insiders I would like all credit for first speaking this into existence. As proof that I’m legit I once saw Jim callis in the airport and did not bother him out of respect.
  17. Holy smokes. Unfortunately…we have zero good trade pieces that don’t downgrade us now. Kopech would probably be key.
  18. Still wondering
  19. It’s frustrating to me that the Sox didn’t jump at adding chirinos a few weeks ago

We may not get much Sox rumors, but we are so lucky to get every minor development of every Yankees or mets move
  21. that's better than I thought, thought it would be intra-round. It definitely sounded like bears staff just hated miller. Poor scouting there for sure. But I was hoping he'd turn it around this year.
  22. sure seems like they should have just traded him to denver pre-draft edit: I was wrong, I thought 2022 was voided. Packers somehow ended up in way better shape and with the qb. That's...that's great. I love how the football gods just always spread the wealth.
  23. I'd still love him on sox where he is not asked to be a star but the 7th or so best hitter, to get on base, make contact, and wreak havoc on the bases. Sucks he plays for KC.
  24. Yeah, and I would guess maybe Nationals are most likely to look for just a quick buck. Hand is rental and $5 mill or so left, Hudson 3+ mill left. Braves have too much control on all their good bullpen, which is a bummer. But Escobar + Hand/Hudson does a lot for this team.
