  1. Seriously, I’m a big fan of Story’s career moving forward, but for the next two months? The guy looks lost right now.
  2. Well, we at least will be able to compare Hahns choice vs others. He chose something else (internal or otherwise), and we get to see how well it goes.
  3. And then he had like a 125 wRC+ for the next month?
  4. I’m so glad the adults are here to set us straight!
  5. Arizona: “we can deal you Escobar, but we’ll need a live body in exchange.” Hahn: “No deal.”
  6. This actually hurts. But there are more. He hath covid, but will emerge
  7. Ozzie thinks every good team needs one shitty offensive position player because ozzie was that shitty offensive position player.
  8. I know I shouldn't jinx it but it does appear that he found something in his last start in charlotte. Interesting thing I found out is Hendricks is shorter than lopez? amazing. Sox have a nice incremental height going in their bullpen Hendricks - 6'0 Lopez, Ruiz - 6'1 Evan Marshall - 6'2 Kopech, Bummer - 6'3 Ryan Burr - 6'4 Heuer - 6'5 Crochet - 6'6 Tepera is 6'1, and I think we have too many of those. Now, Bailey Ober is 6'9, a rare collectible. And Pineda is 6'7, which keeps the nice straight line going. Might be worth exploring.
  9. Never say never with a pitcher. He's doing one thing at an elite level in AA. He just has to figure out the other part, not getting hit.
  10. Chisoxfn is going to punch someone if you keep super-threading the deadline thread.
  11. Considering the success they had with Chas McCormick, still really like Houston's player dev. Hell, had we traded romy for Yimi Garcia, I may have shed a tear.
  12. so the yankees are in on every single possible target I gather? Good for the engagement, methinks.
  13. As have been good enough at self-scouting to earn benefit of doubt, and they are getting back a good piece. Luzardo is a good enough prospect to earn benefit of doubt. Good trade for both imo.
  14. Less good, both starting tackles already not practicing due to injuries
  15. Difference to me is Luzardo had had a lot of injuries. As are pretty good at assessments, but I like the trade for both teams. The group that moved to the Marlins from the Yankees were very good, and now you see cashman really struggling, it makes you think.
  16. I'm with this, though I worry if our starters start to wear, it may expose the bullpen even more. It's a balancing act, but I also totally agree that we have bullpen pieces likely to just do better.
  17. I feel like reds are in a formula one mindset that they'll somehow be better off if they can sell a winning record and 7th place NL finish like it matters.
  18. So all the draftees are in Alabama until next Thursday, so maybe first ACL action the week of August 9th?
  19. getting so jealous of other teams beat writers writing "nice catch across middle for jerb schlobach (UDFA)" while bears are in a closed practice.
  20. It is hilarious seeing Mariners sell while the Reds, who are in a worse actual position despite projected as a better team, are like "yeah, let's do this." Someone should tell them last years playoff rules don't apply.
  21. A part of me is also still like ... he's a 6'7 lefty. Your stuff has to get really bad before it shouldn't work at all. Or no control, and it looks like he still has some control.
  22. I am going to get responses like : - Left handed! (true!) - Not even that good anymore (also, indisputable) However, the hardest thing about the reliever market this year is everyone that looks good has multiple years of control or is on a cheap deal. That sweet sweet meeting of "Pending Free Agent" and "Good" is hard to find. Would I rather Giovanny Gallegos? You betcha. But the Cards are out of it, they just are. And Andrew Miller is a pretty expensive pending free agent. He is not what he once was, however, since his return from injury here are his stats: 14.2 IP 2.00 ERA 66% strand rate 14 Ks 5 BBs ahem...uh 17 h His velocity on his FB is not where it was last year, but has improved from just an average of 87 in April, to 88 when he returned to 89 for his 4 seamer and 90 for his sinker. In July he gave up 5 singles on his slider that had an avg exit velocity of 76 mph. Really unlucky. So the main point is this - At his salary he likely comes cheap, and he's better than Jace Fry. And he could be ascending, OR, it was just a blip and he's about to be injured because, he's old and has pitched an insane amount. His slider doesn't hav ethe drop it used to, but his sinker actually looks pretty good. Is sinker slider my fav bullpen array? no, probably least favorite. Welcome to the deadline baby.
