  1. Watching the best teams in baseball all gear up to try and be the best team in baseball is frustrating. The sox, hopefully for the better, are just supplementing to get through the regular season and into the playoffs. There have been plenty of times where doing nothing ends up being the right move, or at least big moves end up being more noise than substance. But then there's also times where a Verlander is acquired and takes you to a world series. Or a Castellanos arrives and is on absolute fire. The Sox have a playoff team, made sure they have a playoff team. They could have lined up and tried to insert all stars to areas to upgrade over their weaknesses to ensure they are a playoff team. Others tried to insert stars wherever possible to ensure they can place the best player on every possible spot. But they can do that to a lot less injury than the sox now. I hope like hell that Colson Montgomery explodes through the gates, and we trade him for a suddenly available Juan Soto in 2 years. Preller will still have the pieces in 2 years. Friedman will still have the pieces.
  2. So the young position players are all considered low ceiling still is my takeaway.
  3. It sucks seeing the stars align of turner coming available but following a team that never seems to have the bullets. It may not matter. A lot of stuff on the Cubs failure about the Eloy trade, etc. But they stopped drafting well without top 5 picks, and their intl stopped. It never stops with the Dodgers and rays and Yankees (intl, their drafting is garbage) and Sox. Mike Shirleys job is immensely important. Paddy’s job is immensely important. I hope they don’t fuck this up. it’s why I hate when people talk about how colson montgomery and other prep players are years away from impact. They might be, but their value could impact Sox a lot sooner.
  4. Nice. Lenyn is a nice story.
  5. The bulls are so irrelevant I just can’t. I was so optimistic with this group, but ambition starts at the top.
  6. What the hell. I was thinking they’d unload. Damn it.
  7. Also - preller can do this because he knows he can keep bringing in more talent.
  8. right, Preller can do what he does because he has continued to bring in waves of talent from INTL and the draft each year. The sox practice of being uber targeted has meant we had some amazing prospects but a huge canyon behind. We just have to hope we hit spectacularly in this draft because I don't think this depth thing will change.
  9. Ah, the epitome of the 2014-2016 mindset applied to our 2021 championship contending team.
  10. What? I’m saying there are more players looking to sell than teams now buying
  11. Rosenthals latest only has this on the white sox ”where are the white Sox?” Ill say this, seems to be a whole lot more on the sellers than the buyers.
  12. I think getting the comp at 2016 should have worked out. That draft was incredible, we managed to weave through all of the impact players.
  13. Oh yeah, that trades an A for sure them.
  14. It’s happening!!! (if you fall for this, just delete your internet)
  15. I gotta admit. They are a good hateread. I get so mad at how dumb it is, they have me wrapped around their finger.
  16. Not recently but they get their info so early I’m sure it’s coming, they are basically the decisionmakers
  17. So part of this is Hahn just not being a buyer because of his horrible start and the shit 2015-16 teams. So this is off memory but: 2013: - Sell - Peavy for Avi. Didn’t work out for Sox, but they got a now 8(?) year major leaguer and 1x all star so I’ll give it a B+ for talent eval, d- for PD staff - sell - Alex Rios for Leury Garcia. B+, not bad. 2014 - I don’t remember anything? Middling team “rebuilding in the fly”. Was this that one reliever who got injured a week before deadline and we almost got arrietta? Tough luck 2015 - Specifically didn’t trade smarj, used the comp pick in a loaded draft for a college reliever F- - Zach Duke for Tilson (was this 15 or 16?), poor strategy of going after Old AAAA players with playing time - D 2016 - either this was Duke or I don’t remember. Starting to feel like 2016 was Duke. 2017 - Sell - Q deal A+++ - Sell - Frazier/Kahnle/Robertson - D , kahnle was good, almost got luzardo with Robertson alone Hodgepodge of years - Soria for Cordell - F, hate the trading for 25 year old injured players strategy - MiGo for Ti’Quan Forbes - B+, I’m Forbes biggest backer, migo was nothing, went young, May pay off? I thought Forbes would bet us a MRP - The AJ Puckett deal - can’t even remember who we sold for this guy but right idea, I liked both - that Tampa trade for Gillespie B- 2020 - Buy year! Nada Sox had reasonable activity, but just haven’t been buyers under Hahn save for last year. So, go impress us?
  18. Lisa left eye Lopez burning down Andre Risons house was pretty good. I have no idea how to spell his last name but greg louggainnis (? Greek spelling) HIV felt like it was covered for months, in a pretty disgusting way looking back. For me personally, Walter Payton dying was incredibly sad when I was a kid. I mostly missed him playing and just idolized his highlights especially as bears were terrible.
  19. Feels like the lack of August made less people go right up to deadline.
  20. Wow, thank goodness. I’m so glad the Sox medical staff - so good at predicting injuries - is leading our acquisition effort.
  21. Burger would be a really good match for Coors
  22. what a fucking horseshit game. Fuck you cb bucknor
