I think This team which has excellent starting pitching but a slumping bullpen, TLR is getting more wins out of. RRs bullpen management was so bad it showed even when he had a great group like last year. But - I think Sox would be about the same with 95% of managers, personally. RR was really bad though.

I think there are some specific examples here where I wouldn’t change my judgement of them even if I had benefit of knowing it worked out, and it mostly did. I think the Idea today that fans were wrong about Leury and he was right is a little overblown. I love Leury, but it was a real drag. He was put in a tough position of needing to play but also having to play against RHP because we had better LHP options. Soxtalk constantly wants to platoon players, but it’s nice to remember how hard this game is. TLR knew we needed a lot of Leury this year, and knew the investment in giving him more reps would pay off. It did. But it’s not like dude is an all star. He’s just acceptably below average now.

Thread makes it seem like peoples main criticisms of TLR are about tactics. I would disagree.

hmm. He sounds like me. JK I thought twins would be worse but holy smokes I definitely thought they would be 1st or 2nd in division. Dumb bet though, Cleveland can look like a trash team and still squeak out 88-90 wins. Twins can look great and apparently have a 65 win season. Sox are not acting like the sox at all, in a great, great way.

High school players don't take longer to become trade chips, see Matt Liberatore, Jarred Kelenic, both traded a year after selection in high profile deals. Teams shedding major league talent are trying to get the best players and scouts are quite capable of giving opinions on whether success is due to competition or age, they do it every draft.

funny thing about this is that this team has finally gotten so consistently good that we just had a .500 stretch and it felt like we were the worst team in baseball.

What a series win. A week or so ago I said sox should raid the power hitters of the twins (less attractive now with how callups shook out, but at time made sense) and I was told Wait, the sox are about to play 6 games vs the twins, they could get reasonably into it. They did not. Because they are f'ing terrible. Still would take whoa nelly if we have lotsa money. Lord knows I've been spending it on this team.

But he could be injured by playing, and the point of baseball is to prevent any player having an injury.

Sox should just iL Abreu, Anderson, Moncada the minute any backup player has a hit in a game and hold them there forever.
